R.I.P. Lemmy, you were one hell of a showman. I'll be having a drink, and listening to 'Overkill' in your honor tonight. Heavy Metal has lost one of the greats today.Â

The most random greatest thing ever

It is a shame Chuck Berry's classic "Chuck Berry Is On Top" album is out of print. I've never been able to find a CD copy of it, and it's his best record. Arguably 1 of 2 the albums that started rock music (the other is "Here's Little Richard")

Just got my new Fender Mustang II V.2 for my birthday. Cannot believe these amps are so cheap, they are definitely worth every penny.

I had not heard about the arrest I guess. Thanks Bogie.

What I woke up hearing in my sleep

Only an Atlanta team would get the #1 seed, reach conference finals/NFC Championship and then get utterly destroyed like that.

Wishing a special 69th HAPPY BIRTHDAY to DR. Mike Murdock. You have brought me so much (unintentional) joy of pure comedy since i first discovered you last year. The jokes write themselves

Non-stop rain and wind! Woo! Only on the gulf coast, this summer is going to be a great one

DVD Flipper discs; good or bad? Been reading a lot of tech junkies with problems on flipper discs but so far I haven't had one issue. Maybe I am lucky?Â

I love Windows 10; the perfect combination of 7 and 8. Best Windows in years.Â

R.I.P. Chuck Berry, one of the greatest. For those that want to check some of his catalog now, "Chuck Berry Is On Top" was arguably his best album. It contained all his big hits from Johnny B. Goode to Little Queenie, Carol, Almost Grown, Maybellene, etc etc.Â
Â
Sadly, CD copies of Chuck Berry Is On Top are relatively difficult to come across. The album has been out of print for a long time. Amazon sells CD-R versions, which I do own a recent copy. Basically, it's legal for them to press CD-R versions of out-of-print albums and sell them for inflated prices over 20 dollars. It comes with a booklet and all the art is printed on nice paper, but one look at the back of the disc clearly shows that it's a CD-R and not the real thing.Â
Â
Chuck's best album in print, happens to be his debut record 'After School Session'. Maybellene is on this album and was later included on 'Chuck Berry Is On Top'.
Â
My favorite Chuck Berry song was 'Little Queenie' and this video of him dancing is a glory to see, watch how he moves his legs back and forth.Â
Â
Â
Who covered Chuck Berry the best??? IMO, the Rolling Stones and no one else. 'Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out!' featured two Chuck Berry covers. The one of Little Queenie was gorgeous. There are times when listening to Kieth Richards' rhythm style of playing where he can actually fool the listener into the thinking it's really Chuck Berry you're listening to. Only reason I take the Stones over any other covers is because of that. No other guitar player mastered Chuck's style better than Kieth Richards.Â

Chuck Berry was around forever like BB King. It really is sad to see him go. Now only Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis remain living from that old era, and as for the Blues, we got Otis Rush and Buddy Guy still with us (Buddy who has now been grandfathered into that role of "king of the Blues" since BB passed).
Â
Chuck Berry outlived BB King, that was a surprise to me. I thought he was a few years younger.
Â
I imagine for your father, he was the coolest thing in the world back then. Just watching videos of Chuck Berry is a great pleasure.Â
-
Worth noting; Chuck Berry's 12 bar blues style of rhythm playing rocker songs is so influential. You hear it in practically everything. While he didn't invent the 12 bar blues, he certainly influenced how it's used - fast paced for a rocker.Â
Â
The Rolling Stones used his style of 12 bar blues rockers a lot. Even Bowie's Suffragette City uses the 12 bar straight out of the playbook.Â
-
Thanks for starting this status update on Chuck Berry Bogie. I have a great deal of respect for the diversity of your historical musical knowledge across a variety of genres. I sincerely mean that. I'm not exaggerating either.Â
Â
I appreciate that nugget you shared on how Berry's death affected your father too Jules.Â

David Sylvian...one of many Bowie clones from the 70's and 80's. Here he is with his band 'Japan' trying his absolute best to look like his idol.
Â
Â
Â
Doesn't he look familiar?Â
Â
Bowie from 75
Â
Not going to shade Sylvian's band Japan, Quiet Life is a pretty good song...Mick Karn on bass, proving why he was one of the most sought after bass players of early New Wave. Karn would later go on to do albums with Gary Numan and Kate Bush, as well as producing his own solo records. A unique bass player who definitely made his band (Japan) sound a lot better than they truly were. R.I.P.Â

Â
I have Japan's album 'Quiet Life', was listening to it yesterday when I posted this.
Â
For a band, they owe a great deal of their sound to Mick Karn. Brilliant bass player, I'll praise him to high heaven cause he deserves it. He was the one thing that made their band a bit unique, remove him from the picture and they would just be a generic New Wave band. Karn did some work with Kate Bush and Gary Numan. With Numan, the song "Subway Called You" really showcases what a fantastic bass player he was. Â
Â
QuoteIt's almost too blatant how he copies Bowie to me. Â From movements to sound to looks......I mean sheesh........
Â
The song itself isn't bad if you don't have to look at the Bowie poseur though.
Â
There are many, many, many David Bowie imitators in the music world. From the 70's on up, for the past 4 decades, there has been various Bowie wannabes. They still exist in today's age too.
Â
Some are more obvious than others, and some that begin as Bowie imitators can sometimes turn out to be brilliant artists. But David Sylvian is one of the more blatant ones. He's not the #1 in that category, but definitely is up there among Bowie wannabes.Â

Indie Rockers: Metric is a great band. Listening to their 2009 album 'Fantasies' for the first time in some years.Â
Â
These Canadian rockers are great, and Emily Haines has the voice of an angel. Hearing her voice years ago was what originally drew me to this band to sit down with a number of their albums.Â
Â
The ballad 'Collect Call' is my favorite song from this record. (Wish they did more ballads like this, cause it tends to show the strength of Haines' voice)Â
Â
Â
Â
Love this cute rocker too with the goofy lyrics: "Who would you rather be; the Beatles or the Rolling Stones?"Â
Â

I saw this today and just had to show you.Â
Â
Â
Laughed so hard I was in tears at Le'veon Bell's rap music.Â
-
OMG I actually did watch the entire video. Â
Â
My fave part actually is the terrible towels on the newborn babies. I almost wish I had a still photo of that. I mean are you kidding me? That looks like CHILD ABUSE, those poor babies. Those towels could be DIRTY too.
Â
And then after they show a wedding with everyone holding up those stupid towels. Â Probably use them at funerals too.
Â
Well if there is one thing I have going for me this year it's rooting against these clowns. I despise them. Most hate the Pats more, but not me. Steelers are #1. They are the crud of the Earth and for all we know they even win the Super Bowl this season.
Â
But it will be tough to win it all for them.
Â
If we went 1-15 and beat the Steelers to me thats a good season.
Â
And that rap music, omg.........WHY. Â It makes me prefer to listen to Shaq rap instead since he wasn't even that bad at it really.
Â
Â
Thanks for posting this.Â
-
Â
Oh yeah the part with the babies wrapped up in the towel is sad.  I've heard about that for years but never believed it until I seen it.Â
Â
My favorite part though is Le'veon Bell's crappy rap music. WHY YOU HATIN ON ME should be his nickname.Â
Â
Big Ben got married and had kids as a PR move thoughÂ
Â
And it even shows the Neil O'Donnell pick six they act like never happened. WORST PICK SIX EVER in the SB....I know the Tracy Porter INT hurt but seriously, that one was way worse and is still funny. You have to see that clip, there was no one there, O'Donnell literally gave that to them gift wrapped.Â
Â
God I hate the Steelers, same here. My #1 AFC team I hate more than anything, never liked them ever. I like certain historical players on their teams (Bradshaw, Swann, Rod Woodson, Bill Cowher) but I hate that team so much, and I felt so bad for the Colts losing to them in 2005. I know that had to be painful.Â

Â
Honestly that was odd. He was literally accused of rape and I thought he was single. And then a few weeks later he had this picture perfect family. Â
Â
I love the Steelers too and their classy image and this video shows how many bad things most of them have done.
Â
QuoteOh yeah the part with the babies wrapped up in the towel is sad.  I've heard about that for years but never believed it until I seen it.Â
Â
Haunting image with those babies with the terrible towels.

Â
NBA stars rap better. Â Or I just like them more with it.
Â
Â
^^
That always cracked me up.
Â
Â
I will be back later. Just got home. Dodging off and on rain storms and thunder today that happens in spurts. Yikes. Nothing bad, just annoying.
Â
This hurricane coming btw looks like a BEAST.

What the funk? New Prince song sounds pretty good
-
I agree Bogie ever since Prince dropped his name & became a symbol; I have no idea what to make of his musical creativity or choices. I still need to check out his new song. I have preoccupied with a family matter lately, but I will get to hearing the new track very soon I promise. You have my word.

The Fender Stratocaster turned 60, Happy Birthday to the man's best friend. You can never go wrong with a good strat, never.
