  1. Here is the deal, if they win, I will force myself to a season of Tecmo Super Bowl on the SNES with the scrubby Jeff George led team to a Super Bowl, and post all my stats, games and everything on this season. I will play it out till I WIN A SUPER BOWL with Jeff George.

I really don't have a problem doing this, even if they lose I might do it cause I am God of Tecmo Bowl with Jeff George under center. George to Langhorne TOUCHDOWN. I'd prefer to do it on TSB 3, cause at least you have Marshall Faulk, but a real challenge would be the first TSB game I own on SNES.

    Go Colts!

  2. Class act. Romo has been playing a lot better the last few seasons but you wouldn't know it cause everyone is too busy trying to pin every loss on him.

Seriously; go listen to Cowboy fans. I am not lying, they wanted to trade Romo for Tebow last season. Romo has no protection, no run game, and he hits a perfect laser pass while being sandwiched by 2 or 3 defensive players and right after that the typical Dallas fan "We need to get rid of him"

Romo is NOT the problem. It's pretty hard to do anything when your owner runs the team and loves to control every single thing about it. Dallas would have probably won 2 or even 3 more Super Bowls if Jerry Jones' ego wasn't so big and he didn't push Jimmy Johnson out the picture.

  3. BayAreaBronco if we are lucky enough to have Manning playing for another few yrs you will start to ignore all these regular season successes by Manning since he has always been able to do his job starting his days with Colts. Eventually it will be his playoff games and # of superbowl rings that determine how people rank him among all QBs in NFL history.

Spot on, the regular seasons means nothing. People constantly judge Favre by his post season and Super Bowl history, no excuse to give anyone else a pass. Joe Montana got the job done, I don't think there will ever be another Joe Cool.

  4. How can you compare to Brett Favre?

Favre was confused I think....I want to retire, I don't want to retire, but I'll always believe that the Packers pushed him into it the first time. He's no angel either, so don't take that the wrong way.

I do not see Lewis pulling a Favre. For one, he's suffered through injuries and knows his time is up. Looking back at Favre, he still had a lot in him. 2007 and 2009 were both two of his best statistical seasons and he was old. No one expected him to come out and have a career low on INT in 2009 at the age of 40 and he did it. But the key factor is, Favre was just about impossible to injure, and I don't think he suffered nearly as much stuff as what Lewis has.

It's pretty hard to compare a Linebacker to a Quarterback. I don't think an LB can last as long as one of the best QB's of all time such as Favre, who was still in great shape as he reached 40.

  5. How is that Lovie's fault that the Bears team has been completely lopsided for years? The GM for years never got that team a real WR until they finally were basically forced to go get one for Cutler. When you trout out Hester as your best WR you are a joke of a GM. That OL has been neglected as well for years.

He probably should have been fired, but how that GM gets a pass is beyond me.

Hmmm let's see the QB situation over there. They waited and waited and waited to get rid of Grossman, then the short term solution was Orton, then Cutler, who is just a tad bit better than Orton and loves to throw picks. The Bears never had a real offense under Lovie. Making your best player WR was a big mistake. Why they kept Grossman on their team so long, I will never know. He's perhaps the worst QB to ever make it to a Super Bowl thanks to his defense, but they kept him long enough, he was their man. Lovie never seemed too concerned about him despite all the 3-5 INT games.

He had more than enough time to build them at least an average offense. They won 10 games this year and only beat 2 playoff teams; Minnesota and Indy. That just goes to prove how mediocre they have always been under him. All star defense, bust offense. They had more than enough time to fix the QB and the o-line and the rest of the offense. They bring in Mike Martz who is doing something right with them in 2010 and they fire him and he's the fall guy for last year. Cutler is just not your man that is going to take you to the Super Bowl. I don't care how many people say he was hurt, he did not look that hurt on the sidelines of that NFC Championship. He looked fine to me. Yes I know the O-line is bad and how he has no weapons, but he makes a lot of mistakes on his own with decision making. Drew Brees won a Super Bowl with C and B grade receivers. You don't need all pro WR's to win something.

  6. while the Bucs point is fair what I think gets lost about gruden is that he did build the raiders team that got to the Super Bowl too. It could be gruden is better at building than he is maintaining? That or I have always gotten the idea gruden was not a good fit for the bucs over the long haul. If you listen to the players talk about him I just don't think they liked him. Maybe had he stayed with the raiders a team he built with guys that responded better to his coaching style things might have gone differently over the long run.

That's a good point, but we really don't know what would have happened had he stayed in Oakland. When the Raiders made that Super Bowl, they were running the same system that Gruden had used there, that's why it was so predictable in that Super Bowl they managed to pick 5 interceptions.

  7. Um, really?

    1. Chiefs-Jamal Charles

    2. Jaguars-Maurice Jones-Drew

    3. Raiders-Darren McFadden

    4. Eagles-Lesean McCoy

    5. Lions-yes, they need a RB

    6. Browns-Trent Richardson

    7. Cardinals-Same as Lions

    8.Bills-CJ Spiller

    9. Jets-um, don't remember so they could probably use a RB upgrade as well

    10.Titans-Chris Johnson

These teams do not all need a RB.  The majority of these teams have a good or great RB and need a competent passing game to complement the running game.  If there were enough good QB's in the league already then why doesn't every team have a good one?

They need to RUN THE BALL then, exactly like I said. The Browns in particular would have a strong run game going and abandon it for seeing Weeden drop back 40 times a game. McCoy gained over 100+ in certain games for the Eagles and instead of continuing to feed him, Vick throws it 40-50 times. It's ridiculous how these teams do not want to run the ball. Even Buffalo will stop feeling CJ.

  8. We have enough quarterbacks already in this league. I don't care if any of these teams get a good one or not, I am sick of all the drooling over them.

Every single one of those teams need a running back and a solid run game. The sad thing is, a couple of them could run the ball but choose not to since it's the age of video game football where any QB can throw for 300 yards a game.

  9. Its way to early to call them winning the South.

Brees is good, but he has ALOT going for him, including his Off avoiding the injury bug for the most part.

But as for the South. ATL is the king of that division until proven otherwise. Carolina can be a good football team if they get it together, same thing for TB.

To be honest, as it stands now, I think the suprise team of the year next year is TB. They have everything they need, but perhaps 1 piece on def. The have the Off, and are a season away from having the defense. I think things are extremely bright in TB.

The King of the division is 0-4 in the playoffs, and only wins the division every other year when the NFL gives them an extremely easy schedule.

Saints got the ring, I think that proves you other wise. 0-4 in the playoffs, even when they have that Number 1 seed, and about to be 0-5 in the playoffs. Atlanta can't win a playoff team, and we beat Favre, Manning, Warner, and Stafford in the playoffs. At least we win when we are home in the playoffs, unlike Matt Ryan who chokes it away to a wild card team that shouldn't even be in the playoffs like GB a few years ago.

  10.

Next year, with Sean Payton, dont be surprised if they win the NFC South again. The NFC South never has repeat winners, so I like the Saints' chances to win that division next year. Just cannot dig yourself out of an 0-4 hole.

Besides, Spagnuolos' teams play better D in year 2 of his system installed. I dont expect the Saints' D to be world beaters but they will make enough plays to win the division next year, IMO.

Do you buy that not having their coach hurt their defense...??

Why didnt it knock down Brees' numbers.

How come Indy not having their cocah didnt hurt us???

Without Sean Payton, that is exactly why Brees' numbers are what they are. Payton would force them to run the ball, and over the years we were getting better at the run, when it was always a weakness. In 2011 we were a top 5 ranked team on rushing. There was a complete lack of effort in the run game. Just the fact Pierre Thomas; the best back on this team finished the season with only 1 rushing TD is proof of that.

I remember back in the Panthers game, Thomas went 10 carries for 110 rushing yards, and they stopped giving it to him, and Brees went on to throw 50 passes. That would not have happened if Payton was on the sidelines when you have Thomas rushing that good.

The only games we seemed really committed to the run were Dallas, Atlanta (Home), and the game against Tampa Bay at home where we shut them out.

I don't think Payton controls anything on the defense. Had we had him this season, we would have won some of those games we lost, but not all of them. realistically I can only think of a handful. The Chiefs game, we were robbed in that one. Say what you want but it's hard to win when the replacement refs call back 2 TD's, including one that was very controversial. I think we would have beat Carolina early in the season, and the Packers, and that's about it. Hard to win when your defense is total garbage like that. Roman Harper and Malcolm Jenkins just need to go. i have been telling Saints fans this all year and they defend them constantly for lord knows why, they play absolutely terrible and get a free pass..

  11. I watched Gruden for all his years in Tampa Bay, and I never understood what was so great about him.

Yeah he won a Super Bowl....with a team he did not build. I remember watching Tampa Bay, as they played the Saints twice a year with the new division re-arrangement and I can remember how they never had a quarterback, always changing under him, and they were so un-predictable. One season they are 11-5, the next they are 7-9. They go 4-12, then they are 9-7. They go 5-11, then they are 11-5.

He's one of the most overrated coaches I have seen. He's average at best considering his records in Tampa Bay. He would have a nice defense (mainly from the remains of Dungy's team) but on offense, he never had the ball rolling. Brad Johnson isn't the best thing in the world but they got rid of him right after they won that Super Bowl, and I had no clue why, cause everyone after him was average.

  12. and for whomever drafts Barkley, they will continue their saga of overrated QB's coming out of USC.  The last USC QB to do anything remotely successful was Palmer, and really what has he done?

THANK YOU! I have been telling people this for years!

Matt Lienart was a bust, Sanchez was a bust, Palmer was the only good one and that don't say much considering the Bengals replace him with Dalton and in just 2 years he's done more than Palmer did in his whole career there. Barkley isn't going to do anything. USC Quarterbacks are extremely overrated.

  13. Rex is a player's coach in my own opinion. He's the nice guy that is all for the players. Sadly that don't mean he has discipline or edge on his team. Look at how they pat Sanchez on the back all year for screwing up, better yet they patted him on the back with that big contract going into this season for all the mistakes he made last year.

It's not just the QB, the jets defense is very overrated. This is not the same defense from 2 years ago when they hit back to back AFC title games out of luck.

  14. Washed up, check

    Overrated, check

    Big mouth, check

He deserved it. I remember when he was hyped up to be this big star for the Giants and he never was. He was over paid when he was there to just run his mouth and get 2-3 yards a carry. I don't blame the Niners really, they do not need him. Gore, Dixon, and that new kid from Oregon, forgot his name.

  15. How many playoff teams did they beat this year? Colts and Vikings that was it.

Chicago is a joke. Take Cutler with him. They have been all defense and no offense forever under Lovie. Look how long it took them to realize Rex Grossman was a bust.
