It's a nickname for my girlfriend's little brother. We call him Beeb cause he looks identical to him, same goofy haircut and all. He's 18, and he's not a bad kid like the real Justin Bieber, he's just too young to go to the clubs with us

Does your girlfriend's little brother like Justin as an artist? Does he realize that this comparison both musically & professionally is not intended to be a flattering one? Hopefully, he just ignores it & laughs it off as a friendly hazing & nothing more. I'm sure he's a nice guy though as you stated Bogie.

    4. Synthetic

      Synthetic

No he hates him, he's young just his haircut makes him look like him. Its hilarious

  2. Missy Elliot is still the bomb. The only reason to even watch this SB.

  3. More doctor's visits. All blood work today and scans. I've had my share of needles today. Despite the beating, i feel pretty good. Happy to know my ears can be healed, though it's going to take a long time. Hopefully no nerve damage comes back, confirmed I have both ear drums punctured, and I can still hear, woo.

Not exactly. The healing process is going to be very slow, but I will survive. I've survived this kind of stuff in my legs and back before, I should be able to make it. Healing simply takes time.

Well don't drive listening to the final tracks, you might swerve from laughing LOL

Most of the album fades into one another with the shorter songs, great record though! Plastic People and Brown Shoes are my favorites on this album so far in a day

I am for sure getting it sometime sooner then later hopefully. OMG yeah I was going to drive listening to it. lmao.

If you're going to buy it, may want to get We're Only In It For The Money with it. Pretty sure those albums go together, I don't have it yet, it's widely considered his best album

  5. Musicology Myth of the day - "back in the day people wrote their own songs and no autotune" Not true. Autotune was called 'backing singers' back in the day, and most of your favorite pop songs from the 50's and 60's were indeed covers or written by a studio writer. The studio is a magic factory. Don't hate on it.

    1. The Fish

      The Fish

It's not the same thing. Depending on how technical you want to get we could take this back to the first electric instrument, but the big thing/difference is aesthetics. Auto tune is annoying as get out, back up singers are at least performing a natural part.

    2. Synthetic

      Synthetic

The studio has always used a number of effects that people forget about. Overproduction does exist today, but I get tired of hearing about how super perfect everything was orthodox and absent of effects back in the "good old days". It's much easier to record digitally today than it was 30 years ago with analog.

  7. Neil deGrasse Tyson is quickly ranking high on my favorite people list. I love this guy for calling out movies for their scientific inaccuracies, this guy is the bomb.

    2. Synthetic

      Synthetic

Yeah, that's what I like about him. Science is not my strongest subject. I'm more into philosophy and economics, socio-economics and political science/ideology. So listening to him from time to time is very useful in learning new things.

I missed the 13 episode "Cosmos" series & I have never seen Mr. Tyson talk about science other than a few You Tube videos. The line that "science is sexy" & that "science...can be in both your mind & your heart" is complete nonsense to me because science is a clinical discipline without emotion. It is not a religious, world changing experience. It is looking for formulas & chemical reactions that can be duplicated every single time without fail. JMO.

Did you ever catch a TV show called Jazz Scene USA from the 1960's? I don't know if the show was broadcast in America or Europe, but ever since I seen this clip of Barney Kessel on there, I've been so curious

I can't recall that show. It's been a very long time and a few years of abusing my body makes it hard to remember some things! lol

Bogie- I looked up Jazz Scene USA and found out it was a US TV show from 1962. It was a Steve Allen production and made 26 shows. There are some of those avalible on DVD.

Seattle often competes with the Gulf Coast in terms of statistics on who gets the most rain yearly.

I remember the Johnny Cash rant on Johnny Cash courtesy of Beavis & Butthead or their Star Trek Next Generation infamous line between the caption & his 1st officer in command of the enterprise Bogie. "#1 go take a #2." LOL!

I wouldn't mind N.O. as long as I'm in a good area and the Jazz scene there does keep me interested, but as far as the whole "I love the south!" thing goes, I'm a total 360 opposite from most people down here. My dream is to live in Carcer City Nevada or Miami Florida around all those beaches

      Synthetic

Hi, their albums are expensive. Just a tip, keep a look out for used copies on EBay. They are much cheaper than the usual 13-16 bucks for one of the brand new remasters.

    4. Synthetic

      Synthetic

I have two of the new remasters from 2009 and they do sound great, but there really is no difference compared to the old EMI/Capital CD releases if you have a good output stereo. I play mine on the computer, and the older discs still sound great.

    3. Synthetic

      Synthetic

Purple Rain is an emotional song too. First time I ever seen the movie, oh yeah I teared up watching that for the first time. He does not play it much either, also Let's Go Crazy, he cranked up his guitar for that.

I love Prince. Always have. May not be popular to admit that. But, I met him once many years ago and he's a very humble, kind person. I also think he is an incredibly talented songwriter and performer. A little odd. But, who isn't....

  17. PSP external battery is busted. Does anyone still play these things? I am thinking about getting a new one to play Castlevania Symphony of the Night on...any recommendations?

Aliens created bongs that they gave to ancient people. That's how Native Americans learned what to smoke and what not.

It's an addictive song, though it's drawn out 8 minutes. I LOVED when he did it on the SB. Best SB half time show ever

    3. Jules

      Jules

Yeah we did get the best halftime show. And then got the Who vs. the Saints. We own the halftime stuff. The Prince Purple Rain thing was surreal at the game since it literally was raining when he did it. It rained hard that whole night.

    4. Synthetic

      Synthetic

I liked that he started off with Let's Go Crazy and did that medley. I remember the rain, it was crazy. Prince is a phenomenal live artist. If he ever comes close, you gotta see him. You won't be disappointed.

Yes, sometimes this world can be very depressing. Please hang around Bogie. I'd miss not having music & movie discussions with you my friend.

It always bums me out when people I really enjoy are no longer here. It still blows losing Williams & Bacall so close together because it feels like part of your youth dies with their final departure.

The Brits did dominate 80's dance scene with crazy stuff. They had to compete with the Italo-Disco artists, explains the bizarre flashy stuff, dance music has always been better with Euro style.
