  1. I stand corrected. It's going to be about 36 degrees throughout the game (4:30-7:30) with a chance of occasional light rain. With that said Foxboro is in a weird weather spot. I only live 15 minutes southeast of Gillette and it can be much colder there than at home. There's a natural weather valley with the moisture from Mount Hope and Narragansett Bays meeting up with the cold air from Canada and the Berkshires. last weekend it was raining at the game and the sun was shining at home. Those familiar with the area know that the weather can really change dramatically at the Burger Kings (Routes 24 & 495). So I guess what I'm saying is a have no idea what it's going to be like in Foxboro on Sunday.

  2. Umm, yeah, they were the best third down team in the league. That's a stat, not a judgment. Still are, I believe.

Good sack team? Well yeah, again, that's a stat. The numbers are what they are.

I never thought the defense was the absolute best in the league, that we'd throttle everyone we played and never give up a third down again. The defense always had vulnerabilities (every defense does, really). I don't know how that means they were/are "frauds." That's not what that word means.

I know the stats but they won't finish there. You know exactly what I meant. Is HOAX a better word?

  3. Except your point is wrong.

Definition of running up the score was yesterday when you throw from 38-7 and stay almost till the end. Show me a game where Manning was throwing from 38-7.

When should Pitt have pulled Ben? And when are you going the figure out Belichick's consistent? Stop being a soccer mom. These are the big guys in the big league. Nothing can replace game reps and we are coming into the meat of the season where they separate the men from the boys as evidenced by the Steelers/Colts game yesterday.

  4. LOL

What does this mean? We cheated our way to a shutout last week?

It means they aren't as good as everyone thought they were and that things always level out. Did you really think they were the best third down team in the NFL? Did you think they were a good sack team? The other shoe just dropped.

  5. That is a myth, GoPats.

Here is a synopsis of the proof that disputes popular pundit talk that lures us fans into such thinking.

    2005 Steelers - Start 7-2, go 7-5, finish the season 11-5

    2006 Colts - Start 9-0, then go 3-4 to finish 12-4

2007 Giants - Start 6-2, then go into a slump to finish 10-6

2008 Steelers - Started strong, stayed strong to finish 12-4

    2009 Saints - Started 13-0, went 0-3 to finish 13-3

    2010 Packers - Started 7-3, then went 3-3 to finish 10-6

2011 Giants - Started 6-2 again, then go to 6-6, rebound to go 9-7

    2012 Ravens - Started 9-2 but go 1-4 to finish at 10-6

    2013 Seahawks - Started 11-1 but go 2-2 to finish 13-3

These are all SB champs. The common theme, they start fast to build some equity to survive latter season bumps and bruises. Then, they regain health (like Ray Lewis and others for Ravens, Sanders for Colts, Avril and Harvin for Seahawks etc.) and remind everyone why they were good to begin with. So, that momentum thing, the numbers do not support it.

So, every SB winner has won 6 out of their first 8 games since 2005. I have not seen a team go 4-4 or 5-3 and then turn it up to go 10-6 and win the SB since 2005.

Good post. All SB winners are very good teams even the 07 & 11 Giants.
