  1. Yes , I did specify that the 2 year suspension rule was enacted in September of 2023 , which was around 5 months after Rodgers was cited. My point was that the original suspension was for a "Minimum " of 1 year , so IMO , it's not at all surprising that his suspension is longer than those that did not bet on their team. The Eagles took a chance that he would be available in 2024. It was a low risk , high reward signing IMO.
  2. They received the same punishment but the length of the suspension was "open ended." Really difficult to say "they received the same punishment " as the "punishment was not specified. But it's obvious that they view Rodgers violation to be more serious as last September , they specified the following... "Under the new policy, as disclosed in a memo from commissioner Roger Goodell that was obtained by ESPN on Friday, a player who places a bet involving his own team will be suspended at least two years. Bets placed by players on any NFL game will result in at least a one-year suspension." After reading this , I would think at least half this year and good chance the entire year.
  3. His violation was more severe than the players that were re-instated . Maybe he gets an extra 8 games or so ?
  4. The more I read on him , the more I think my first take on him was too high. I think he goes somewhere between P 26-27 and pick 40.
  5. I say round one , you say round 2 or round 3 . We shall see said the duck
  6. I'm thinking that a trade down would net us a 3rd and we would package that with our P 46 for something in the high second. Totally agree that it would be bad strategy to accumulate day 3 picks. Even if what you say id not true , this draft is said to be very good in the first half and weak in the later rounds.
  7. RAS score was 9.89. C'mon... with the hand held vs electronic. Are you saying that his 40 is really higher than the 4.43 he ran. Well ... how about those other CBs that ran 40s in the 4.4's at the combine ? Theirs are really 4.4 but DeJean's is not ?
  8. I think he goes in round 1 and with a trade down 6-7 spots , he would have enough value to take him there.
  9. I'm begging to the Cooper DeJean is a probable target for Ballard's pick in round 1.
  10. Pretty easy for Indy to add a player like Diggs or Simmons. The two "easy" options would be cutting MAC or signing one of the above to a 2 year deal with most of the salary pushed to year 2. In 2025 , we won't have the 8 mill in dead money and probably won't be paying 14 mill to the C position . Looking at 2025 , the only meaningful FA we have are Buckner , Speed and Kelly . As of now , Spotrac has us with 76 mill in cap room . Looks to be that # INCLUDES picking up Q Paye's 13.3 mill option. Really simple to do a deal for one of those 2 safeties .
  11. I've made some good posts and bad posts in my many years on this board. This , IMO , was a really good call. You could argue the "overpay" issue , but all these resigning of our own players with the exception of Pittman included the players testing the FA market. Thus we can assume that we paid top of the market for them. I would also say that Pittman was not anything close to a "home team discount."
  12. Very excited about the soon to be 36 year old Jackson. I'm surprised he's still available . I probably won't sleep until Ballard pulls the trigger on this one.
  13. I'm thinking he ends up trading down to around P 25 . By the charts , that would net us a late second rounder. We would then have approx. picks 25 , 46 and 60. Maybe then trade a 3rd or 4th to move up from P 60 ? Obviously this all depends on how the colt board breaks out in the first 12-14 picks.
  14. Do you think Ballard values Latu over Verse and Chop Robinson ? I;m thinking Verse goes before Latu as his combine numbers are off the charts. Robinson also has what Ballard values but his production probably pushes him down a bit. Maybe mid 20's ?
  15. Since Ballard thinks the FA period is for suckers , the most interesting part of this almost 130 page thread is our dogs.
  16. https://share.icloud.com/photos/0f9qI9Zf3eoyEnEkgbd97wLbQ Mine looks like a guinea pig. I won't say what my wife paid for this thing. Should have named it Kujo as it rips us to shreds. You have 2 fine looking hounds. Not sure that photo link will work as I never tried this kind of posting of a photograph
  17. We had a Golden Doodle that made it to around 15. We now have a 2 month old Golden Doodle that is a nightmare to take care of. Thing goes into attack mode 2-3 times a day . Never had a dog like this and it's tough on my wife and I as we have reached our 70's. Smart and funny dog but brutal...
  18. You get the second rounder by trading your 2025 first . Or something more complicated like this years 3rd and next years 2nd and a tad more. But pretty much will be significant 2025 draft capital.
  19. Cap "room" is really not the issue. Not only are the options you mention available , the Colts could also structure a contract with a large signing bonus , large 2nd or 3rd year roster bonuses and a small first year salary. Next year the cap will go up and we won't have any big cap casualties like we did this year with Shaq.
  20. I already admitted you were smarter than me , what more do you want ? I really didn't think your post was all that informative or funny. I basically read it quickly and saw Simmons mentioned and decided to comment that it won't happen. BTW.. the Colts could afford him by SIMPLY setting his first year salary low and extending probably just one player. Also have the MAC contract and won't have 8 mill in dead cap like we did this year. I'll try to get some help reading and understanding you post so you won't be posting how I'm missing the point .
  21. Never said that your post said "hey the Colts are going to sign Simmons." But whatever... you're just too intelligent for me to follow , so I'll give it up.
  22. Didn't "miss the point " as your post is hardly above anyones comprehension level. I was just commenting to the your thought that some Colt fans think Ballard might still sign Simmons. Comprende ?
  23. Ballard is not signing Simmons. take it to the bank. Look for a journeyman OL and maybe a DB that is not highly sought after.
