  1. Playing Curtis Painter as long as we did was as blatant a tank as one could see. Irsay and Polian knew exactly what they were doing, and sticking with what we have now is easy to read. We will compete with what we have and the better draft PICKS we have next year definitely will help long term. Irsay, Ballard, and Steichen and our Capologist have a 2-3 year framework for building a SB contender and winning this year, would be costly. We need studs. Several of our current" best" players won't be here for a SB contending season. Build around the draft, developing our own talent, resigning our own if possible, and filling in the cracks in FAgency at the appropriate time. Wash, rinse, repeat.
  2. If you didn't see his play as solid what words could educate you? For those that thought he was solid, their LT had a PFF 68 grade. And we got hurt bad when Dayo gave him a break. If one noticed.
  3. Wishing is for fishing but I sure hope 🙏 Ogletree gets a lot of healthy playing time. No Mac and not much Granson works for me.
  4. I want him to be healthy. He certainly needs to be exercising and strengthening his lower body. Hope all goes well JT and someone else writes that big check.
  5. I'm doubting you watched this and got the message. We had plenty of plays with such as poor spacing by receivers, poorly ran routes, lack of effort, missed blocks, AR having some impressive reads and throws, him throwing too quickly, waiting to long. Sure, teams run much the same stuff, but defenses are faster to gobble up space so there are tighter windows. Great timing is critical with AR developing trust with his receivers to get to a spot. Our group is just getting started. And there were a number of our guys that need their buttons chewed.
  6. Dayo gave him a breather in the 2nd half and decided to give up the edge for the chance I guess to jump on the pile. The RB cut it outside for a very long run if not a TD. Incredibly sad watching a 3rd year player do something so ridiculous. This is Turay stuff. The light isn't on.
  7. Looking at where our starting 3 WR's were drafted makes you as having NO CLUE!
  8. He gave Pittman he...ck more than once for effort. Poor blocking from Pierce that killed us. Oh Reggie!!!! AR did a lot of the right stuff for his 1st game. Smart stuff. Optimistically, we could have a pretty interesting attack figured out for the last 1/3 of the season.
  9. What a treat it was watching Grov and Buck destroying the middle. Their play was a critical component to Zaire and E J also being so excellent. Can’t wait to watch these guys disrupt Stroud.
  10. I watched him pretty close. He held his edge well, i thought he was solid. His LT counterpart graded lower than Kelly. This while the rest of our front whooped on them good.
  11. I hope Jonathan extracts as much money as possible and we meet him and his new team in the SBowl.
  12. It is a decision for the coaching staff who is the best man up. They chose Kelly, even if he was somewhat diminished. There is no excuse involved. And our staff graded him and we kept putting him out there over Pinter. Where is any excuse shown? Q wasn't 100% either last year. This is COMMON every year stuff in the NFL. If they can play up to a standard they will. Leonard wasn't close, and was politely benched.
  13. Perhaps I'm over thinking this but, Pierce had a route that he rounded off because the defender kept him far enough in front that Pierce couldn't get into him, then break out thus creating space. A fine job done by the defender, and I figure that is what he was coached to do against Pierce. So here is the point. When AR and Pierce are totally confident in each other, I believe that given the space the defender played at, the proper read would have been for Pierce to break off the route for an easy sideline catch. I believe Manning would have have read and done that with Marvin or Reggie. As a rookie this probably helped account for some of Mannings World Record 26 int. AND, him having 100 int his 1st 5 years. Remember though, Manning's longer balls often fluttered like wounded ducks those first 5 years. Practice practice practice. It is going to take a few years fans.
  14. Pierce was horrendous in pre-season. He looked lost and AR completed just a couple passes to him. Pierce is better than this but Steichen can't trust him and AR yet apparently. They will make some plays, they have to get in sync so they don't give up interceptions. Pittman had a hard earned good day with the rookie. And he got in the end zone. Will we ever get our QB to hit him in the end zone? I believe Pittman is going to grow into a top notch clutch #2 like Reggie.
  15. Sorry, but you are ignoring he had a significant left arm issue 2 seasons ago and played through it. So how much lifting, upper body and lower can one do with one arm? He was still getting over powered last season in ways that didn't happen prior to that injury. It was/is my hope that he is finally back to as near 100% as his body will allow him to get. Maybe he only grades middle of the pack, thats life.
  16. A tight budget and very high draft picks in 24. Simple, and appropriate. Yet incomprehensible by many couch GM's. Going 8-9, 9-8 year after year stinks. We need top talent. Draft, develop, and hopefully hit big enough there you can splurge on the needed pieces through Trade or FA that gives the Team a great shot at a SB. We are young and unproven throughout our roster. We ARE far from a contender, so we plan for the future.
  17. So it is your understanding that Cox $4.8M salary isn't fully guaranteed at this time. I thought it is once he was on the opening day roster. Leonard is at serious risk of being cut after this season so pushing more dead cap money down the road would be bad. Grove just might get a new contract in season. He is a bad man.
  18. Winning this year is certainly not a priority. Getting young guys experience is THE priority. Winning this season! would be detrimental to our long term goals. Sorry, but you are making assumptions on subjects you have zero information on. What was JT's minimum to play this season? A couple million in incentives? Or 4 years $60m? AFTER he passes a physical will we offer him anything? Unknown.
  19. Reggie became an Elite route runner and had as good of hands as anyone. He Set DB's with incredible footwork, while Marvin did that and had incredible speed. We need a Marvinish kinda guy. Pittman would be showing more 1ish level play if he could have developed all of his years with a Phillip Rivers. This year won't show his full potential either. I hope he gets to play a full season. He is playing for his next contract and looking at game one I see a warrior that is going to prove to be very valuable to our success.
  20. Pittman is very reliable and we saw him make good catches in tight windows and get hit hard doing it. And yes our offense desperately needs a fast, lightning quick #1. lol Reggie and Marvin both were superb at getting Open using great footwork and speed. And not taking hits doing it. So much of that occurred though by playing with Manning for multiple years, with Manning taking every practice snap, so they developed exact timing. So what we call Pittman not getting separation is more two players having to learn to read the defense the same so the QB can release his throw before his receivers make their break. This was something Luck still couldn't/wouldn't do (accurately for sure) 4 years in except at times with TY.
  21. About 1:10 into the game Smith got instantly smoked for a quick sack, and early into the 3rd quarter and even with a bump from the TE Smith allowed another sack from behind. AR ripped himself away from another sack when Smith was quickly beaten. Re-watching, I agree that the pass Pro was generally solid, though they did blitz a number of times running free to AR. He was well prepared and made several really nice throws in blitz situations. And I too believe Raimann's ceiling is Very high.
  22. I do hope Freeland earns the RT spot. We need more power inside than Fries can generate.
  23. Thank you Nathan for these telling charts, and thank you so much Chloe for this data that actually makes things clear. Seeing AR's chart week after week would be fun/interesting. I didn't notice AR using his eyes to move/freeze the safeties. He probably did, but he is very bright and will be good at it. Something has to give with reliable production from Pierce. I know his hard work will give us Something. lol
  24. Perhaps Jax is a good, well coached team that out played us in certain aspects. We watched our D make a bunch of excellent plays too. Hey, what a novel idea that Steichen and his staff will use the players they have over say at least the first half of the season to build on our future. We can figure there will be 4-5 new starters next season as Steichen and Ballard look for and go after better talent fits. I would take a few years of Mike Evans. And love Austin Ekelor for half what Taylor believes he is worth.
  25. Wrong. He banked on Pryor coming back in the best shape of his life. Pryor admitted he went home after the season knowing he had this great opportunity, and he put on 20 lbs getting up into the 360's. He came to camp to get back into shape, back down into the 340's. He screwed Ballard, the team and himself. The good news was Ballard drafted Raimann, who got thrown to the wolves and by the last half of the season he went up against the best, game after game and was holding his own. Yes, Ballard doubled down on a good player in Raimann. Fries is not the long term answer, but watching every pass play from yesterday's game one should admit his pass protection was quite solid. He plays with to high a pad level to knock guys off the line. Did you clowns watch Glo getting destroyed last night?
