  1. Adrian Peterson I have to refuse because of all his down-time and legal issues. Matt Forte was a beast, but the Bears seem to have locker room turmoil, and their abysmal efforts are trickling down to Forte's potential.

Marshawn Lynche might be the #1 favorite, so I'll give him a close nod to Darren Sproles, but there are two things that make Sproles better in my mind. First, in that last game, Sproles had Mark Sanchez as his QB. Second, Sproles also plays special teams.

^ That punt return is insane. He wasn't even touched, yet he was doing a zig-zag pattern down the middle of the field. That guy has insane acceleration, and he has the highest motor of any player I've seen.

What I also don't get is the guy is so small, yet he isn't injury prone. He's 5'6" 190lbs. In comparison, the average height of a horse jockey is 4'10" to 5'6", so if he decides to drop about 50lbs after retirement, he can make a new calling for himself.

If I had to win a game tomorrow and I can take any RB, I'm taking Sproles.  He can run the ball, he can run routes and catch, and he can devastate teams on special teams.  And for those saying you have to be the best RB on your own team, Sproles is better than McCoy right now.  McCoy just hasn't been the same guy he was last year.

If we're saying that Sproles is purely the RB and can't play special teams, then I'd take Charles over him, but that's it.  Murray is good, but he's been playing behind a dominant o-line all year and teams have to respect Romo and Bryant.

  2. do you feel teams dont really give a QB an opportunity to grow now-a-days? you see guys like manuel and smith benched before they play 20 games. has luck wilson cam made too lofty expectations for QBs to come in day one and change the fortunes of a franchise? honestly I feel like if your team doesnt really believe in you, then youre not gonna put it all on the line to help your team succeed.

I'm probably in the minority, but I think teams give QBs too much time.  I don't think it's that hard to evaluate whether a guy can play or not.  By the end of season two, you should have a clear idea of whether your QB can legitimately get it done for you.  If you think about it, in the last twenty years, has any QB ever come back to haunt their team after being released and joining a new team?  We all know who the really good QBs are, and these guys don't get let go in the first place.  The only time you see it happen is when the QB has an injury and the team believes they have a great young QB prospect (ex. Brees and Peyton).

The biggest mistake teams make imo is that they don't move on when they should.  They give out huge contracts for QBs that aren't very good (recent examples are Jay Cutler and Andy Dalton getting huge money; I'd add Flacco too but he did win them a SB, however, the amount of money they gave him was insane).

  3. I've only watched a handful of their games, so I'm sure you're more knowledgeable about the Eagles than me, but I don't know about the Superbowl. The Cowboys are still in contention for the division. However, many of the NFC powerhouse teams from last year look like crap right now, so who knows?

And that was the bad Sanchez I was talking about lol.

And I don't see the Cowboys as a huge threat. I'd take the Eagles over them in both games. Their running game is great but I think the Eagles can limit it. And the Cowboys don't have an answer for the Eagles uptempo attack.

  4. He's had some great drives, but yeah, the turnovers have been his biggest problem.

Sanchez looks good so far. Then again, my expectations weren't that high to begin with, so maybe I'm exaggerating lol.

I watched every eagles game, including preseason, so he's meeting my expectations lol. I see him doing the exact same things as Foles. Even last week, had some great drives but also two awful turnovers (one was a whacky INT but there was also a complete drop of an INT, so it evens out). But that's okay, at least that means the qb production will be consistent. If the Eagles can win next week, I think they'll go to the Superbowl. Their o-line is only getting healthier. Their special teams is phenomenal, and their defense can hold up vs any qb not-named Luck, Rodgers, Brady, or Peyton.

  5. I wonder what Jets fans are thinking right now? :)

    He looks better than Foles.

Eh, I wouldn't say that. Foles has had some great drives all year (that's why he has a bunch of 300 and 400 yard games). His problem, and Sanchez's as well, is the turnovers. Still plenty of time left for Sanchez to turn it over.

  6. Oh definately not. That said slow starts against good teams will hurt you...it gets you totally off your gameplan. They don't have to blow out everyone...it rarely happens but Denver really hasn't played 4 good qtrs of football much this year....those turnovers and most importantly those false starts and penalties that get them in long yardage situations really hurt that offense. Playing a good clean game can be habit forming....they need to start building those habits for the post season. If you start thinking your going to cruise you see how fast that gets beat out of you.....hello NE.

Okay, I think I get what your saying. Initially I thought you sounded like you were one of those fans who want to see perfection every week and if it isn't there, then the win isn't any good. As long as colts win by one next week, I'll be a happy camper, even if it's an "ugly" win.

I completely agree with your good habit forming part. The penalties, especially the false starts need to stop for Denver. To be fair, they did do massive o-line reshuffling (I can't actually recall any contender having ever changed up 60% of their o-line after the midway point). But those penalties have been there all year. The increased pressure on Peyton early in the game, and him just being somewhat off, were the reasons for the slow start imo.

  7. Denver didn't look good early. They need to come out the gate and step on peoples throat. They had a similar start against Seattle and New England and we see how those games ended up. Coming out slowly today against a rookie qb and lets be honest a pretty pathetic team won't hurt them. They pull this stunt with KC or SD in a couple weeks they won't be able to come back.

Honestly, I think that is why they passed so much. Yes it is their identity but its also about keeping the tempo upbeat and getting a good rythem...thats why they stuck with the pass in the third. I do think they HAVE to run the ball much better. Last year Moreno kept the defense honest and even if Peyton carried them in the playoffs they still had a decent run game. If they come into the playoffs with no run game....they will be ripe for the pickings. Peyton will run the ball...he has proven that...but he doesn't like to be behind the sticks on 2nd and 3rd and long....and right now he trusts those short pass plays more than 4 yd runs.

It'd be nice to come out the gate with two touchdown drives, but it's not needed.  There's a reason football games are four quarters.  They still dominated during a 20 minute stretch.  There hasn't been a single championship team in recent years that's come out the gates firing on all cylinders for every single game.  In fact, every championship team has been in tight close games (some where they have won and others where they lost) and they all have had moments in the regular season where they just looked awful.

In the playoffs, it's all about luck and getting hot (which is good for the colts I guess since they already have Luck ).  In the regular season, it's all about staying healthy and doing just enough to win at least 10 games.  You don't have to dominate every game to be a SB winner.  Every game is different and in the playoffs, the past is just that - the past.

  8. Brady and Big Ben are in the conversation as well now

And then there's that Peyton guy :hide:

I also wouldn't discount Murray from possibly making a run.  If he can put up numbers that translates to wins if Romo remains out, voters will go crazy over that.

  9. Witten? Have you looked at his numbers over the last 3 years? 13 TDs in three years? Gates has a good year going this season but only had 18 TDs over three years. Graham has 36 TDs in the last three years. Thomas has 21 TDs in 2 1/2 years. There is no doubt the Gronk can be in the HOF if he can stay healthy. None of the TEs could do what they do without the QB play so why is JT different? Brady feeds Gronk more than Manning feeds Thomas.

If I had to take a tight end to play a game next week, I'm taking Witten and Gates before JT and it isn't even close...Witten is still a beast at getting separation.  He is physical, and playing physical against him doesn't work.  He's also outstanding in blocking.  Gates makes ridiculous circus catches with ease and can still get it done even with two guys covering him.  Julius is just another guy.  I don't see anything special in him.  Put any average tight end in his place, and Peyton still would have gotten him almost identical production.

There were people saying JT was the best tight end Peyton's ever played with, earlier in the season.  They were nuts.  Dallas Clark could run circles around JT.  Clark had excellent hands, ran great routes, and wasn't afraid to make the hard, contested catch.

And Gronk could perform at his same elite level without Brady.  Gronk is arguably the best Tight End in the history of the league.  Watch this guy play, he is making insane catches every week, or trucking over two defenders on the way into the endzone.  You throw a ten yard pass to Gronk and he'll take it 30 yards into the end zone, with the remains of his would-be-tacklers sprawled on the ground.  Gronk has that blend you never see - he's physical, has great reach, and has enough speed where only cornerbacks can catch him.

  10. Which TE is better in your opinion? These two are arguably the two best in the game. I'd go with Gronk myself, hes insanely good.

Thomas isn't even top 3. It's Gronk, then Graham, and then Gates and Witten. Then you have Julius with guys like Bennett and Olsen. If Peyton wasn't throwing JT the ball, you wouldn't hear his name much.

Gronk is a future hall of famer.

  11. I was going to bump the old thread, but, it was locked (shocker).

Anyways...the lord of the idiots is here

Brady didn't exactly throw any beautiful deep bombs. Broncos came out with a horrible game plan. You need to double team Gronk and not let him get a free release. Chris Harris needed to be on Edelman the whole game. Brady still can't throw further than down yards down the field by the sidelines. He's great at attacking the middle but that's why you make your defense be packed there. Colts will hopefully do a smarter job.

And for the record, I'm not saying Brady didn't play great, just saying there is still a clear weakness in his game that teams aren't exploiting like they earlier this year.

  12. I liked the video but do understand where Ruksak was coming from regarding the TD text . . . the maker of the video could of just use the stock footage of the throws without adding the text . . . Brady just passed 50k yards this year and there was no footage of that and a corresponding text . . . As the maker got stock footage of other plays the maker could have just use the stock footage of the milestone TDs . . .

with that issue aside it was a great video . . . well he did get the billing of the names backwards :) . . .

We all realize the maker is a huge Patriots fan right? Just saying I don't think he was trying to slight Brady.

  13. It was a bit weird that the 400th TD and 500th TD were both with the Broncos and the 509 record breaker, to think that it is only his 3rd year felt weird to me. To me, by showing Manning milestones, it had an unintended slant stating that if you want stats, Manning has it. The tad bit of Peyton heavy nature of it made it seem like that was a subtle message.

The video was made by a Patriots fan lol.  Highly doubt that they were putting in a subtle message favoring Peyton.
