  1. This has been edited to "Please Consider This"?? Really?! I mean, I think Doogan is a self-aggrandising patronising "holier than thou" edit, but the levels of censorship on this site are taking it too far. If he wants to look down on everybody with a different opinion to him, then let him, similarly if people want to tell him how much of an dipstick they think he's being let them. Provided nobody is getting hurt (save a slight internet ego bruise), then it's no big deal. Death threats and over the top insults are different matters, but let him have his opinion!

    Dan,

This forum is about mutual respect, not a free-for-all internet ego bruising competition. The Colts Fan Forum has always stood as a different type of football site where all fans could come and discuss their team and their favored sport WITHOUT the fear of being bullied, insulted or flamed for such opinions.

Unfortunately there are far too many who do not wish to follow that 'Golden Rule', but this isn't the wild west and it is not your average football forum. This is the Colts forum.

One of the main reasons the title was edited was because of other people, not Doogan. The title was indeed a red flag to a bull to anyone sporting for a fight (thus provocative), but plenty others have been giving just as good and came ready for battle. They are fired up to voice their opinion in thread after thread, but heavens no if anyone voices one that is opposing to theirs.

That is not how it works. Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion and it is valid, but it is yours and yours alone. That goes for everybody. You don't have to understand someone elses' point of view, but if you are going to participate in discussions here...you (a general YOU to the entire forum, not to Dan in particular - lest there be any misunderstandings) have to respect it.

Now this is to Dan...if you have a problem with the way the board is moderated, PM a mod. And insults are not cool. They are considered personal shots.

To everyone...this can be a good debate, but if it continues on the downhill trend...it is going to be locked. There is enough fuel already around here.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

  2. Okay, since we had to go there...I will take my shot at reasoning about the "perfect season" debacle.

The next week was Buffalo, IIRC. And a record blizzard on the frozen tundra. Polian was in Buffalo for a lot of years and had experience with players in those conditions that time of year.

Perhaps (just my own thoughts) they knew they did NOT want to play everyone for the whole game in Buffalo regardless of the record. I realize that Reggie and Dallas played for a bit, but not the whole game. Anyway...It would have been 100x more heartbreaking to be 15-0 and lose there or have the players pulled after being 15-0. Even worse, having Peyton or someone else get seriously injured in that game.

Injuries DO happen this time of the year and they do make a difference on the team. No one has foresight, only hindsight. But you have to ask what ifs on - Freeney and SB, Wes Welker in the *, heck...Greg Jennings right now? There are lots of other examples.

Being cautious is not cheating. Deliberating laying down so you can effect the draft is, IMHO.

    Just my :2c:.

  3. Personally I'm glad I'm not a colts fan. I couldn't handle those disasters. I would have been so mad because I demand good coaching. With good coaching,Polian staying out of it,proper drafting balance, AND not letting Manning run the offense...those colts win a playoff game or two. One they let Washington and Marcus go and went small fast over pursuit defensive players with tackling abilities of the Key Stone Cops...well...they went south.

But they did eek out a SB so...in the end thats all a fan can ask. (we were just lucky as fans to have BB win 3)

    edit:

Oh and a 4th to soon to be:-)

    "Personally I'm glad I'm not a colts fan." ? Dood. :nono2: Ouch.

    Ditto, man, ditto.

Now you are sounding like a :flyingelvis: fan.

    ;)

  4. Supporting our coach is all fine and good (and much appreciated by some, I am sure), but can we find a better way to open the discussion than using expressions like "eating crow"?

We have had too much drama and name-calling (not saying that the OP did any of it...just a general observation) lately on the forum. FvF fussing. ;) It is the hope of the mod team and many posters that the discussions here, especially those of sensitive topics where people seems to head to polar opposite sides, can be conducted in a manner that respects all points of view.

With that in mind, I am going to close this thread and ask the OP to re-open the topic with a slightly different tone. Deal? :beg:

    Thanks so much in advance.

    PG

  5. Just to add something as we head into offseason and draft time...please don't question each others' fan hood - no matter where you stand on draft picks. It just is not cool. We are all Colts' fans here (unless you are a fan of another team, of course :D) and we all have different opinions. All opinions are valid because each person here is a valid and valued poster.

So respect each other and one anothers' right to have an opinion and understand that it may not be the same as yours. You may not understand it, but you need to accept it.

    Thank you.

  6. I would be very upset if they purposely threw the game. I have seen such joy and determination and pride on the players faces the last 2 weeks, it would be so hard to not see that one more week. Plus, we don't know who all will be back in blue next year...so I don't want to see their final game as a loss.

I would prefer to head into the offseason with a good mental attitude and a best momentum we can muster at this point.

I have felt that the team hasn't so much as 'threw' games this season as they haven't given their all in a few of the them. That was disheartening, especially to the players who did leave it all on the field. The seemed to play as a team lately and that gives me hope.

I just don't want to see that crumble just for the one draft place. Many of those players will be back here next year. For many, this game is their resume. Either way, they need a good one to put down on paper.

I know the FO has said they can take a 1st round pick salary, but I would rather spend some of that on the rest of the team and have a 2/3 round instead. But if 1st is what we get and we did all we could in the game against the Jags, I have no problem with that. If the coach decides he wants to protect some starters and pull them out if things are getting chippy (because it is a "meaningless game" as far as standings go), I won't have a huge issue with that either if the players are okay with it.

I would like have one more win, but right now my concern (as a fan) is for the players. All of them. I want them to have a great game to look back on, esp. if it is their last one as a Colt.

  7. lol.....had that same thought last night. Like if Luda stopped smoking dope and started pumping iron.

I wish we could please stop with this debate about the last game. Please?

It's irrelevant and divisive. Like seriously, we got nothing better to do as Colts fans then to sit here and argue amongst ourselves about whether or not we should be happy that the Colts are winning?

Both sides have a point. Can we not appreciate that and move on? This off-season is going to be very argumentative on this forum....I can tell that already.

    +++++++++ Thank you Ruksak. :worthy:

  8. The players are playing REALLY hard for something or someone...either their own contracts, their pride, their teammates, their coach - something. There just seems to be a different aura to the team the last few weeks.

If they are playing for Caldwell, then what does that say about him?

Look what happened when they played hard for Dungy. :lombardi:
