  1. "Treat others like you want to be treated."

    and

"If you cannot say something nice, then don't say anything at all."

If we acted like that, we would not have near the problems we have here or anywhere. But no one is perfect. This is also an internet message board and too many folks think that it is just a place to vent. It is just faceless names with no feelings so I can say whatever I want with no consequences...how many of you think like that?

Well, you are wrong. Maybe that is the way it is other places, but not here. Not on our forum.

We have always stood for equality for all posters and for this to be a safe place for ALL football fans to be able to come and discuss the game - without fear of being called names or being trolled or being talked down to.

With all that has happened in this last season, too many poster have gotten away from the original core ideals of this forum. Not good. That is all I can say...just not good.

The mod team cannot even keep up with all of the fires these days. It is unbelievable! What has happened to our fan base. Seriously?

For those who don't know or have forgotten, we have a set of rules here. They apply to EVERY poster. It doesn't matter what team you support, what player you support or if you simply like football. Break the rules and the mods will do what is necessary to keep the forum running smoothly. If you want to keep posting here and be part of the community, them simply FOLLOW THE RULES that YOU agreed to when you joined this site. Do not blame any one else if you choose not to do what you agreed to do. You have a choice. Please make the right one.

The name calling/insulting is going to stop. We already have the 24 hour 'rule' in place for inflammatory posts and personal shots, but if these become a habit...then you will lose your posting privileges. Simple. Stop and think before you post.

If you see a subject or even a poster that you have an issue with, move on. Please find more civil ways to discuss the subjects at hand without being inciting or insulting. If posters only wish to hear their own viewpoints, then there is no purpose to continue in a particular discussion except to incite and inflame. That is considered trolling. If your post is just to make trouble, then you are causing trouble. That is not going to be tolerated.

We all have to work together to heal. Heal the fanbase, the forum, the team...heck - even the league after a lot of the things that have happened. If you here to only make things worse, then re-evaluate why you are posting.

We want lively discussions. We want a variety of opinions debated in a civil manner. We want a variety of fans from many backgrounds so that things remain interesting. We want differing opinions discussed from lots of viewpoints. But we do not need constant sniping and people being hurtful to each other. Nor do we need people being nasty toward members of the NFL organizations - owners, coaches, players, etc.

Do your best to be respectful. Think before you post. Debate in a civil manner. Respect others' opinions even if they are not the same as yours. If you are not contributing to a topic, then move on to another.

Thank you for your time and cooperation. Let's make this the best forum for football fans once again.

  2. Please find more civil ways to discuss the subjects at hand without being inciting or insulting. If posters only wish to hear their own viewpoints, then there is no purpose to continue in a particular discussion except to incite and inflame and that is considered trolling.

  3. For fans who say that Spygate helped the Patriots steal SBs, then Bountygate no doubt helped the Saints obtain their SB (their entire path to the SB not just the game itself). Bountygate just did so in much worse fashion.

Deliberately setting out to injure a fellow player is despicable. And to do so on a bet or for extra money. :yuk:

Not to mention the outside bets on it. :nono:

  4. He was nervous in the presser (if you are meaning the Broncos intro). Anyone who knew Peyton could tell that...especially at first. But he was more comfortable as it went along. I didn't see anything out of the way. He looked tired, but I am sure he was. :)

  5. Wow, in all of the major developments that were tweeted about back in September, who knew then that the "Blue Sea" (of Colts fans) would be parted so horribly and deeply...down to the bare dry ground? I wonder if these outcomes were considered or expected.

So very sad to bear witness to. :(

  6. I doubt your characterization of a healthy and recovering GOAT is akin to the risk I perceive as an aging and injured QB that is still rehabbing from nerve damage to his arm. If this risk is not perceived as real by the Broncos, they would not have the contractual structure that provide the mitigation of this risk. Nonetheless, there is no guarantee that PM will return to his former pre-injured form.

A draft prospect, is by definition, someone who has not played a single NFL down. However, it would be a mistake to perceive the #1 draft prospect, so highly rated as to be called the best QB prospect since Elway/Manning, as as some inept neophyte to the game of football. There are hours of game footage of Luck playing QB at the college level. Nonetheless, there is no guarantee that Luck will translate well into the NFL level.

I too would place my money on the known vs. the unknown. However, I think we see differently as to which is the more unknown and which is the more known. ;)

When it comes to unknowns, gambles and risks, it then comes down to a matter of faith and what your gut tells you (in most cases and I am not meaning faith in a religious way).

It seems your gut (and Irsay's) goes with the young unknown. My faith (and Elway's) lies with the experienced one. Only time will tell which is the better choice.

  7. Everything in this game is a gamble of one sort or another. Every time a player steps on the field, every down that is played, every pass that is thrown - all is a gamble and a risk. No one knows what will happen. "Any given Sunday" is the only thing you know for certain.

But there are measured risks based on experience. No guarantees, but at least no unknown quantities.

As with all things, it is a 2 way street. You cannot say that it is a sure thing with a rookie QB who has never taken a snap in the NFL vs horrible odds with an obviously healthy and recovering GOAT. It is not reasonable. All are unknowns, just to varying degrees.

I would place my money on the known vs the unknown, but it wasn't my decision. :dunno:

  8. rusksak,

What ifs will drive you crazy.

    1) What if PM never got injured such that he did not have to miss a year of football?

    2) What if PM never experiences decline in his performance until well into his sixties?

    3) What if BP did not build this team with Dungy/Caldwell/Manning complicity around PM, and instead paid attention to Defense?

    4) What if BP had a better QB2 than Painter?

    5) What if Andrew Luck was not available at the right time?

    6) What if the Colts did not get the #1 overall pick in 2012?

    7) What if PM advised Luck to not go back to school last year and Luck took his advice?

    8) What if Elway did not pull the Elway to the Baltimore Colts back in 1983?

    9) What if Harbaugh won the SB in 1998?

    10) What if the Colts did not get the #1 overall pick in 1998?

But one of the biggest what ifs and unknowns in the game is a rookie QB. Just sayin'. ;)

  9. Are you as disgusted as me, PG? All these excuses about rebuilding and cap space, Andrew Luck craps gold bars, it's just disgusting that we're going to watch OUR QB smoke the league for years and years and years and years while we wallow in insignificance trying to rebuild 5 years before it was necessary.

Like, couldn't we rebuild in 5 years? Use some of those picks we could've gotten? If Irsay and Polian hadn't built this teams with overpriced popsickle sticks....bah

    In a word, yes.

  10. Overruled M'lord. Speculation.

If you are basing this knowledge on his 'in front of the camera / microphone' persona', then I despair.

Sure, he appears to be all he seems to be, but do we really know his values etc? Really know?

How do you NOT know? Works both ways...
