  1. I just don't get the whole preseason panic. We go through this EVERY year. We treat preseason like an extended training camp and use it like preseason is supposed to be used...a testing ground for rookies and newbies and roster battles. First string guys see little action.

They never show their cards as far as play calling goes. Whatever the offense and defense does is never what goes on when the season starts.

We ALWAYS lose in preseason and win in the regular season. People, fans, media talking heads always start crying that the sky is falling because the mighty Colts lost to so&so in preseason and sucked so badly...they didn't win ANY games. :blah: I recall years when the Dolphins and Raiders and Lions won all of their PS games and not a lot else the rest of the year.

I also know a lot of teams that take PS so seriously that they keep their #1 players in when it is not necessary and they get hurt and are out for the whole season. That is just dumb.

So while PS is great training ground and testing for who will be placed where on the team, it is not indicative of the regular season. I wish folks would remember that. *sigh*

My only concern is that Peyton is not going to have any on field time due to his surgery and lack of training with the new guys with the lockout, etc. Come week one, it may take a bit to shake off the rust and get in sync. But it will happen. We may have a bit of a slow start, but things will come around. I have faith. :cheer:

  2. Threads that are topics or subjects DURING THE GAME, should be posted in the GAME DAY FORUM so that they will be kept in one place until the next game. This leaves the main forum open for regular and post-game discussions.

Any topics posted during the game (relating directly to the game) will be moved to the GAME DAY FORUM.

Also, don't forget that we now have a chatroom available during the game. All forum rules apply there, but please enjoy this new feature.

Lastly, it has been an issue today. So as a reminder, PLEASE do not post requests or links for illegal streams to any NFL games. This can get us all in trouble so these types of posts cannot be tolerated on the board. Legal, sanctioned NFL links and legal radio broadcasts are fine.

Thanks for your cooperation in all of these matters.

  3. doesnt this thread go against the very rules you are reminding us of?? lol

"We try to keep the board organized in a very easy to read manner. Therefore, please search before you post a new thread and please post the topic in the correct forum. Duplicate threads of the same subject will be merged or deleted and if the topic is not DIRECTLY related to COLTS football, then it does *not* belong in the Colts Football forum."

    Just sayin... :grouphug:

Forum rules are on topic everywhere. ;)

  4. Just a friendly reminder! :rules:

Maureen has posted an PINNED announcement with some helpful tips to aid both new and longtime users of the fan forum. The main one is for everyone to read, carefully review and FOLLOW the forum rules and guidelines.

It is easy just to register at a new forum and jump right in with both feet and begin posting, assuming (you know what that word means) that this place is like every other football board out there. Well, that would be a HUGE mistake. :nono:

The Colts organization has set certain standards for the way they wish the fan forum and all of Colts Direct to be maintained. This is a family friendly place where all members are to be welcomed and can feel free to discuss football in a safe, friendly environment.

To that end, we do not allow insults, cursing, personal attacks and such on the site. The Golden Rule here is: "Don't be a jerk."

We try to keep the board organized in a very easy to read manner. Therefore, please search before you post a new thread and please post the topic in the correct forum. Duplicate threads of the same subject will be merged or deleted and if the topic is not DIRECTLY related to COLTS football, then it does *not* belong in the Colts Football forum.

You can find the rules anytime by clicking the link at the top right corner entitled -FORUM RULES. Additionally, if you ever have a question about board moderation, please send a private message to one of the members of your MOD TEAM. Above all else, please do your part for the community and report any actions that you see that are "out of line" by using the report button on each post (lower left corner of the message) or you can report a member in general from his/her profile if they are a particular problem.

Another feature that is helpful if someone simply gets to you on a personal level, but it is not a rule violation situation - use the IGNORE feature. It will help you and keep you out of trouble by removing the temptation to respond. :ignore:

Using proper netiquette will go a long way in communicating with fellow posters. Using ALL CAPS is rude and inflammatory. Don't do it.

One of the biggest NO-NOs on the forum is requesting and posting links for illegal websites and online streams for games. These threads/posts will be immediately deleted and accounts can be suspended. The same rules apply in the chat room. We understand that everyone wants to see their favorite team play, but this is a legal issue for the Colts and the board and is trouble we cannot have.

Again, we want everyone to enjoy the forum. Many people worked long and hard to get our fan forum back like it used to be (or as close as possible) and we want it to once again be successful. A community is only as good as its fans and posters. We are all in this together. The rules are simple and easy to follow and the mods here are pretty easy-going, helpful and quite nice. We don't bite...well, not TOO hard. :rawr:rotflmao

So just read the rules and show respect to your fellow posters (even those from other teams!) and things will be cool.

Now, who is ready for some football??? :coltshelmet::cheer::huthut:

Thanks for your cooperation and continued support! :shake:

  5. This isn't a troll tbh this how the typical casual/bandwagoner fan acts for the colts. They don't know anyone past the big names and starters and believe the first thing they hear

Indeed. Actually MOST fans listen to NFLN or ESPN or play Madden and fantasy football, so they pick up on certain notable names. They also listen to the talking heads who like to hear their own voices too much and believe what these guys say about FAs is the gospel truth. So if we aren't out there signing the "big names" like Philly is doing this year, or like the Patriots or Redskins have done in the past, then we must be sunk before we even start. All because we have a team on "no-names" besides Peyton (and Freeney, Clark, Mathis, Wayne, Saturday, Vinatieri, etc...). Meh. :whatever:

*MOST* football fans don't post on forums or take the time to discuss the game on a daily/weekly basis or even have 'in-depth' discussions like we do here. So the casual fan (probably 80-90% of fans) don't know the names of the players on their own team past the well-known starters.

That is okay. Fans are fans. It takes all kinds. But you still cannot insult the team. ;) Or troll. Or incite.

In those instances, the knife cuts both ways.

  6. How about this - anyone who complains about losing a preseason game (not about how we played, that's fair) gets some type of punishment. Like a 'scarlet letter' of shame automatically put in their sig until the next game. Banning is to harsh.

This  is as close as I can get. haha lol

  7. get em PG. haha. ur right this has become :offtopic: and is now a :catfight: . hehe sorry had to try a few smileys out

You are correct and my apologies. :sorry:

I was trying to discuss the WR possibilities and got sidetracked. My bad. I am human, too. haha

I don't think we will ever see Moss in Colts blue, either. I don't know why he is still an issue anyway. Unless he UN-retires, he won't be in ANY uniform.

I am happy with the WR group we have and I am hoping the all remain healthy this season so that there will be no need for any FA discussions. :beg:

  8. ...

i also think it is funny that i got a -2 on my post that was completely uncombative because you dont like my views..now i see why every1 tries 2 agree w u..

I guess that goes to show that you don't get how the rep system works here.

A person can only vote ONCE (up or down) on your posts. No one can tell who has voted what. So apparently other posters disagree with your posts.

But I don't appreciate your absolutely false insinuation at all.

  9. To Nicky -

I don't think we need to sign anyone as it happens. But this is called a discussion. The topic at hand was "what if" we were to sign an additional WR.

You seem to be treating it like you HAVE to convince every person here to believe that Moss would be the greatest thing since sliced bread. You also react as if someone has an opinion that differs from yours then that person is just plain wrong. That is not a discussion.

I personally don't care what Belichick said about Moss. Fact of that matter is he cut him from his team, so I guess he didn't think as highly as he first said.

It is no diss on Moss at all. I like Randy. I always have and I think he is (was) an amazing player. But the fact remains that he is retired and the last team he played for he did very little...well, nothing really.

So I don't see him coming into Indy and being a star WR for numerous reasons.

I don't see Stokely doing it either. But if the team WERE to sign a FA or whatever reason, I think Stokely would fit the team/system better. That is simply my opinion. He is also not retired. ;)

Besides, if he caught one TD...if it were at a crucial moment (like last season), to win a crucial game (perhaps playoffs or SB if someone were injured), fine with me. I will take one shining moment. :D

  10. Thank you Chad and Brent.

If Nicky had taken time to actually read my post, I clearly stated that if we were to add anyone for insurance (that meaning someone who would be on stand by behind all of our regular guys in that position)...I like the idea of Stokely because of his knowledge and chemistry with Peyton and because he has shown flashes of brilliance with both of the last teams he played with (despite having QBs that are not of Peyton's caliber).

I have nothing against Moss. But he has retired. He has never played with Peyton either and he did squat with the Titans last year.

Besides, people were talking about "daydreaming" and how there is no harm in that. One of my personal "daydreams" is to see Stokes in Colts blue one more time. Big deal.

So to Nicky - you might want to consider cooling your jets a bit because you come across very combative.

  11. So many things to say about this topic, so little time. Let's try to keep this short. The :eagles: have nearly 0 chance of winning the Super Bowl while the :1colts: have a fairly high chance because of team chemistry (sorry, I really wanted to use the new emoticons).

Yeah ! Someone noticed my new emoticons!

As to the OP, no offense dude...but really. You get your posting privs back and you come to the board with this? You KNOW this is going to incite others and provoke a negative response...therefore, one of our forum definitions of 'trolling'. "Small DUMB DTs"?

That is just not cool. :(

  12. Blog? Do you mean the forum? I echo shecolt's post and ask that if you or anyone else has a problem with the site or another poster, please contact one of the mods.

Otherwise, I am a little confused. :sorry:

  13. Wow...you guys have encountered nicer fans at LP than I have. I wouldn't take my kid in there and he is 14.

I went once and was really cool toward the Titans as well (respectful) - it was the last year that Steve McNair played and I liked him a alot so I cheered for him when he took the field. The folks surrounding me were still pretty hostile, not good-natured. The drunker they got, the worst they got.

Some fans last year talked about their kids being cussed at. I guess it is any given day. :dunno:
