I agree that we need to blitz more, especially against 2nd string QBs.  The only comment that I made about blitzing is that it likely wouldn't stop the screens that killed us.  But yes, we need to blitz more.  Elite teams like the Cowboys and Eagles do it, so why shouldn't we?

    My thing is this:

    1) We all know the Colts are 2nd to last in the league in terms of how much they blitz

    2) They can't stop screens regardless of blitzing or not (which has been a prob for a way too long)

Stop being scared, and take the chance (a greater chance) at getting to the QB and blitz.

Kenny Moore is amazing at CB blitzing. He is on the smaller side and gets lost in the pile and his "bend" is fantastic....Use him!

Send the LB Speed, he's super fast

I don't remember ever seeing Gus send a safety to blitz cuz he's so scared of getting beat over the top. (which happens anyway)

I just don't get it. It's super frustrating to watch.

  2. I've been posting for more blitzing all year, and then people say oh, well you can't with our secondary.

This team is 30th in the league at blitzing. Yes, the front 4 get a decent amount of sacks, but cmon. The Colts constantly make mediocre QB's look like all-stars week in and week out.

Barely ever blitzing (esp backup QB's) is ridiculous.

Grow a pair and pressure the QB instead of leaving your secondary 10 yards off the ball and letting the other team march down the field.

I'm also sick of watching screens go for 20+ yards. Unreal.

I watched the video and didn't hear or pick up on many of the things being said here.  I don't think Saturday said much at all, other than Bradley was a good DC.

I picked up on alot of what Jeff threw down

    1) Steichen has brass cojones /makes good decisions

    2) Reggie Wayne has them receivers playing

    3) Josh Downs is super smart

    4) Props to Gus Bradley like you said

    5) Mentioned Kato June being great

    6) Colts and Bills O-line is underrated... Philly O-Line cut from a different cloth

    7) Mentioned Mike (I believe Mitchell -another coach) not caring about today's rules.....just trying to decleat people lol

Mad props to Jeff Saturday for letting all the hate roll off of him and being an all around good dude.

  4. The Colts are doing waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than anyone gave them credit for...including me.

I thought we'd win 4-5 games and here we are in the playoff hunt w/o a backup QB, starting RB and CB.

    Steichen is the real deal.

I'm excited for the future of this franchise with him at the helm.

  5. I think Ballard FINALLY got the right coach.

    I think he listens to the coaching staff quite a bit on players;

Gus wanted Yannick, Reggie (and prob Steichen) wanted Downs

Steichen brought in Minshew, McKenzie and on board with the AR pick

Reich wanted Matt Ryan, Pascal, Parris Campbell and so on

Steichen is infinitely better at picking players than Reich IMO, and I finally feel confident he will lead this team in the right direction.

I'm excited for next year's draft with Steichen involved, and I hope Ballard cracks open the check book this off season too.

  6. Not sure Germany and SS should be uttered in the same thread ....

As tight lipped as SS has been during media presses, he let us in a little bit about a play they had dialed up against the Patriots (that they didn't use) and against the Titans!

Week 13 Recap: Shane Steichen, Colts at Titans (Sorry, can't figure out how to link the video).

  7. 1. WR - we do have a good group, but our depth is lacking

    2. Center - Kelly is hurt quite a bit

    3. CB - Brents and Jones are our starters, but there is no depth

    4. LB - Olubi seems legit but Ballard is good at picking up great LB's late in draft

    5. DT- when Grover went out, man did we suck at defending the run

    6. RB - JT banged up a lot this year, Moss will leave for better money, and Sermon ain't it

    7. Offensive line depth

  8. If the Colts sneak into the playoffs, Steichen's name will get more traction for HC of the Year. I do like flying under the radar though.

That play with Mo Allie sneaking out for the 30 yard gain was still the best play Colts have ran in 10+ years. Props to Steichen on having the cajones to call this play

  9. Imagine where this team would be if we blitzed more.

If you don't want to click on the link:

NFL standings ordered by total team sacks

    1. Baltimore Ravens: 47
    2. Buffalo Bills: 41
    3. Miami Dolphins: 38
    4. Dallas Cowboys: 37
    5. Kansas City Chiefs: 37
    6. Indianapolis Colts: 36
    7. Los Angeles Chargers: 36
    8. Washington Commanders: 35
    9. Cleveland Browns: 34
    10. San Francisco 49ers: 33
    11. Minnesota Vikings: 32
    12. Philadelphia Eagles: 32
    13. Arizona Cardinals: 32
    14. Pittsburgh Steelers: 32
    15. Seattle Seahawks: 32
    16. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 31
    17. Tennessee Titans: 29
    18. Cincinnati Bengals: 28
    19. Las Vegas Raiders: 28
    20. New York Jets: 28
    21. Green Bay Packers: 26
    22. Los Angeles Rams: 25
    23. New England Patriots: 24
    24. Jacksonville Jaguars: 24
    25. Houston Texans: 24
    26. Denver Broncos: 23
    27. Detroit Lions: 23
    28. Atlanta Falcons: 22
    29. New York Giants: 21
    30. New Orleans Saints: 18
    31. Carolina Panthers: 18
    32. Chicago Bears: 17

The Colts currently have the sixth-most sacks on the season with 36. The Baltimore Ravens are comfortably at No. 1 with 47, but top three is definitely in reach for Indianapolis. Currently, the Miami Dolphins are third with 38 sacks on the year, just two more than Indianapolis.

As the Colts push for the playoffs, the pass rush will need to remain a factor. It’s not a coincidence that Indianapolis is riding a three-game winning streak at the same time the pass rush is dominating; the two are connected. In order to win in this league, especially late in the season, you have to be able to get after the quarterback. Indy is doing a good job of that right now
