  1. Counting one-two-three. How many minutes until the "Fire Pagano" threads start? I think they're staring now. :argh:

  2. Re-watched the Force Awakens twice yesterday....The more I go back to this film, the less I am impressed with it. Each scene is very nostalgia heavy, and the film does a terrific job paying tribute to what Star Wars is about all in image. One could write a book demonstrating it scene by scene what the film is calling back to in the classic movies.

However, as beautiful as a film is, it don't make up for lack of storytelling. Essentially it's a New Hope 2.0 in it's framework and Abrams and company played this VERY safe. Why does the Empire still exist 40 years ago blowing up the death star and killing Vader and the Emperor? Why do the rebels still act (and look) like a rag tag team of partisans opposing the bigger established system? If anything, the rebels should be the ones in power now and whatever is left of the Empire should be scattered and weak.

After further thought on this, I wish they would have went with more original EU material to make up a story. Timothy Zahn's book and the character of Thrawn alone, could have inspired a much better film.

I haven't seen "The Force Awakens" and not sure I want to see it. The last few Star Wars movies I've watched haven't impressed me at all. Maybe the franchise has run its course and needs to be put to rest once and for all. There is only so much a producer and director can do with this storyline until they run out of ideas. IMO it be best if Hollywood dropped the whole Star Wars franchise and tried new things instead.

  3. The Steelers offense is just unreal. Long ball after longball, run after run. The skins cant even touch em. Nice to see Toler getting turned to toast when he's not on our team though

  4. Andrew Luck and Drew Brees today combined for 8 TDs and no interceptions. And both lose.

    Very sad.

While we're at it, let's fire Pagano, Arians, Jason Garrett and Sean Peyton. Add Adam Gase just because.

  5. All the best to my beloved 16-year-old nephew Christopher as he travels today to study one semester in France with his senior high school class.

Blessed and safe travels, Chris. As Tim McGraw says, remember to remain humble and kind as you prepare for the rest of your life.

Safe travels to your nephew. That is a great learning experience for him; I hope he makes the most out of it.

  6. I had a dream where I was at the Superbowl and the teams playing were Green Bay and Buffalo. Location was in Houston, ad the score was tied 6-6 at halftime. I work up before the game ended, so don't know the winner. Premonition as to the next Superbowl? Not sure, but the dream seemed very real.

  7. Congrats to #4 making it into the Hall of Fame. The greatest Packers quarterback ever, and the reason a lot of 80's babies fell in love with the NFL. I would not have begun watching football as often if it weren't for #4, thanks for the memories!

I enjoyed watching Favre play; he always seemed to be having fun.  He had a good speech, was very emotional. Although I'm a Colts fan, it's mostly because of Favre that I also like the Packers.

  8. Just spent the evening being entertained by James Taylor.  I was in awe of this man's amazing incredible talent.   "How Sweet it is"

I didn't know that "You've Got a Friend" was in response to "Fire and Rain."; I never connected the two, although I can see it now. James Taylor has the kind of voice that calms, if that makes sense.

No one yet mentioned 'You've a Friend", one of Taylor's best songs.  Carole King also recorded it, though not sure who had it first.

  11. Not a great day to be celebrating a birthday... Thoughts and prayers for all those who have lost loved ones in these senseless killings the past few days in Dallas, MN, and other places.

I saw all the seasons of the X-Files when it was on. It was interesting at first, but IMO went downhill when Scully had the baby, and it became all about conspiracies. it was time to end the show when Mulder left.

Enjoy the first few seasons, though. Those were the best episodes.

"Finding Dory" looks good; I enjoyed the film "Finding Nemo", and this one seems to be on the same order.

I watched trailers for the new ":Ghostbusters" film, and wasn't impressed. Somehow I can't get my mind around a new cast. No matter what, I can't see it comparing to the original. I've seen too many remakes that never should have been done.

  16. Sorry about the slowness.  Nearly 2K people here right now. Working on it

  17. This won't be a popular opinion I am about to share among my fanbase but I am going to anyway. I don't think Tom Brady deserves to be suspended 4 games. I think at this point too with the incident happening last January that it's becoming a witch hunt at this point and a bit tiring. I wish the whole thing would just have DIED last season.....I didn't even want to hear about deflate gate again. Frankly I can find it embarrassing since we got CREAMED in that game.

The Patriots lost a first round draft pick and got fined.  I am not sure at this point in time Brady needs to be dragged through the mud either since as much as some hate the Pats and Brady lets face it......it's more fun when he plays the game. It's more fun when all of these stars are on the field. I was looking forward to seeing the Pats play in Arizona week 1 and that battle. Now if Brady isn't there it loses it's appeal to me.

And lets be real, it was deflated balls and even Rodgers admitted he likes MORE air in the balls. I get they broke a rule but lets relax at times here. Nobody killed anyone, raped anyone or hurt anyone that badly. I am sorta embarrassed this is still being talked about when we got our butts kicked in the AFC title game.

And thats about all I got for now on this topic. I am not mad or upset over anything but I was hoping this deflate thing would just go away forever. And I am sure Brady will fight this and it's another battle in the media.

I put this here instead of in the threads on the forum since I don't want to be targeted as being as a closet Pats supporter. I am just saying I am tired of this topic and wish it wasn't even still around.

I'll say they have a record of 2-2 after four games. Looking at a loss to Arizona and probably Miami or Buffalo. Either team plays hard against New England. Houston is still unproven; not sure how Osweiler will do.

About "deflategate": I think that it's become a power play. Just pushing to see how far the NFL can use its authority. I'll be glad when the whole thing is ended (if it will ever will end.)

This has been a bad year for musicians. So many of the 80's generation have died; things are hitting too close right now.

      RIP Prince.
