If I am right, Reggie Wayne scored 13, didn't he? Andre Johnson scored 14. So, have those guys been busts in the NFL? I think not.
Certain positions, a REAL BAD SCORE (single digits) might matter, like QB, MLBs or O-linemen, one can make a case. But the teens and beyond for a score, to me, the score becomes less relevant for the above positions and certainly for other positions. Vince Young, who scored 7 for a QB, was a red flag that teams did not pick on. You can get by athleticism to an extent but eventually you have to be able to read Ds as a QB.
I am curious - how would you access Claiborne's low score of 4? DB is much more difficult to play than WR

Man, Jamie Dukes is so annoying!
I sometimes wish they would kick him off as an analyst. He gets so upset whenever another analyst says something counter to him, and then he just tries to talk over them. Very distracting to hear real football talk when one guy is demanding the floor

I personally think Manning would be foolish not to sign with the 49ers if they have expressed genuine interest in him. (Or if they will limit what he normally does) My question is, how much do you think it'll take to sign him?

My guess is that Alex Smith hasn't signed the contract because Condon, who represents both Smith and Manning, is waiting to hear what the 49ers have to say. Will Smith get a new agent because of these events?

I am just thinking hypothetically about the Chris Johnson situation. Had he continued to hold out and not play for the Titans, and then the Titans were to release him because of his decision not to play, then should other GMs be allowed to sign him?

When two parties sign a legal contract, it is binding and should not be broken. I don't think it's fair to the owners of a franchise if they take a chance on a player who suddenly becomes a star a few years later, and that star thinks he has the right to demand a better contract. Should the NFL impose a new rule disallowing GMs from other teams to sign that star? So basically, if you don't like how much you're earning, you either stick with it, or leave the NFL

I would be mad. There's a few teams out there that can become contenders if Peyton signs with them, I doesn't have to be the Texans. I don't think he will though. For 1, it would tarnish his legacy with Colts fans, they are the ones that really supported him his entire career. But I don't think he wants to do that to Irsay or the fans. I don't think he wants to get in Indy's way or Eli's.
All those teams are contenders, but the Texans are head and shoulders above them all, with an elite running game and defense, and a scary machine in Andre Johnson. He would easily win the division with the Texans, possibly securing home field advantage as well. I am more of a Peyton fan than I am a Colts fan, so I would love to see him win 1 or 2 more superbowls. Besides, the Colts are going to be rebuilding the next two years, so it's not really affecting their chances at the playoffs. Manning wanted to come back, but Irsay didn't let him. That should give him the liberty to go wherever he wants

He would be a great pick up if he actually stuck to his role of pounding it down the middle and moving the chains, but he tries too hard to be the premiere running back. He bounces around a lot and tries to be nifty with his feet, which often leads to very minimal yardage gain. I watch a lot of Giants games (I live in NY), and I find myself wondering why he takes the field when there is a much better option in Bradshaw who can do everything Jacob is supposed to do and more.

If Manning comes back, I believe he can keep Randy Moss in check. Moss played well with Brady and even at 35, Moss is probably good for 1000 yards 8TDs with Manning at the helm. If we are moving on with Luck, then I'd rather pass.

Maybe he just doesn't anything to do with the mess that this team is going to be for a while.
I hope this is the only reason. For him to think that he is worth 7mill/year average with all his inconsistencies is beyond me. His greed will catch up with him in the end, where he'll have to settle for 5~6mill a year

Personally, I don't think Peyton will be ready to throw 100% by the March deadline, and I think that Irsay really needs to man up and complete the transition into a "new era."

Seeing how Giants play the way they do in the regular season, it's very possible that they'll be coming into the playoffs with another low playoff spot. but if they face the saints, niners, or packers at home, they may fall to this curse as well

John Gruden was traded from the Raiders to the Bucs for two consectutive 1st and 2nd round picks, and that was in 2001 or 2002. I'd say Belichick, in today's coaching market, is worth considerably more than that in comparison IMO...
Would you go so far as to giving up this years 1st overall pick?

Hypothetically, if we had a mid 1st round pick, and Belichick was on the trading block, would you pull the trigger? Or would he cost more than a 1st rounder?

Put Gronk with a QB like Painter or Collins and he becomes what happened to Dallas Clark. he becomes a NOBODY.
Jacob Tamme ring a bell? Also, the Patriots have a shifty machine in Wes Welker. How'd you forget him? Plus, they have a top 3 passing o-line yet again. When you have time in the pocket, the completion rate goes up much higher.

Brady has one great WR and one great TE. Yes, Wes Welker is great, IMO, based on his consistency and the fact that you have to game plan for him. Same with Gronkowski. Aaron Hernandez is nowhere close to the "great" designation, IMO.
The true "great" term for the Pats is their QB and O-line coach all these years, and the performance of the QB and O-line year in and year out.
Right now, Brady and Manning still stand apart with their consistency but based on Brees' and Rodgers' pace, it is fair to expect those two to catch up to Brady and Manning eventually in this pass happy league.
IMO, having a great O-line exponentially trumps having a great WR corps. I think it's more impressive to see Rodgers doing what he does with such limited time (similar to Manning of last year), than it is to see Brady make short-intermediate throws with 3+ seconds in the pocket

I don't see how this scenario is any different from hoping we bench our players in week 15 in our 09 season to prevent injuries. You argue that we play to win every game and yet, if you bench starters, you are clearly not putting your best foot forward and therefore, not trying as hard. Well why can't we do that for the next game? Try a little less hard so that we solidify the 1st overall pick in the 2012 draft which would provide almost twice as much value as the 2nd overall pick. In both cases, you are cheating the fans short-term, but helping the franchise long-term

Define "blow" the number one pick? Winning games? I'd like to know when that has ever been bad.
You guys are never happy. Getting to the playoffs was bad last year, because we should have taken the losses for better picks. Then we hate how bad our team is this year, but instead of drafting players who can make an immediate impact, we should draft a guy who won't contribute. Then when we start winning games, which is what this league is all about, we're "blowing" it.
Well, you can argue that this was a meaningless, if not stupid game to win. What benefits the franchise more over the next 5 years? Winning a game when you're already out of playoff contention, or getting the number one pick? The answer is very obvious
EDIT* I am still very glad that the Colts won, but the "win every game" argument does not weigh very heavily against solidifying the number 1 pick

He played a great game throughout, but when he was needed to make a final drive to win the game, he came up short (Which is the media's perception of him during the playoffs). Â This Broncos team has been, in my opinion, one of the better teams he's played with in recent years. Â They were lucky that they didn't suffer many damaging injuries as playoff teams often do ('09 Colts). Â Is it possible that this demoralizing loss might get to Peyton's head? Or is this going to fuel him even more?
