Procrastination can be fun but I've got to do my exercise!
-
What a week! On Thursday someone came into our garage - door was up and wife was home. We got a video from a neighbor and the guy came in and stayed 10 minutes! He went through my wife's car and took some money and her garage remote. He then went through my bike basket and took some money and an old pocket knife! He went to my bike and took an fluorescent water bottle holder from the bike handle. We had to reprogram the garage door remote.... Today I lost the house key on my walk so went down to Lowe's to change our deadbolt and door handles!... Lucky for me I can watch my Colts! WHAT THE GAME IS CANCELLED!... Oh well I've got my Coors Light!

So, I'll tell you my terrible tale. Years ago, I was at my brother in law's wedding. When we went home we found that our glass door had been broken and the house ransacked. The good news is that they caught the guys, they were driving a truck around, robbing houses and loading the truck. So, I got my stuff back. But, the police told me that often, houses are robbed 1 month later because criminals know that people have insurance and replace things. Which we did. So, even though they caught the criminals, they must have not caught everyone.
We replaced our glass door side with a steel door/deadbolt and the neighborhood started a crimewatch. One month later, the front door was taken off it's frame and the house ransacked again. My neighbor didn't notice until she saw the police at our house. WE MOVED. That solved the problem.
I have a friend who's mom has a kitchen in the garage. I guess some Indian families use a garage kitchen to keep the smells out of the house. She left the garage door partly open to let out smells and a kid came in and walked right into their house. They had security camera on the entry from the garage so, they got a good picture and the police caught him. That ending was happier than mine

I dislike these war stories but we should share our experiences so some us can take notes and be a vigilant. When we first moved into our newly built home (our present), I didn't turn the alarm on and you guessed it! Basically money, old coins - dimes with no copper, buffalo nickels, old pennies, silver dollars, $2.00 bills and jewelry were taken! They also took an outdated check book (account was closed) and tried to cash it. My wife's name wasn't on it but they used her name. It was tracked down and the check cashing company held the suspect. We went to court but nothing happened after. I guess the police dropped the case. I learned a lesson to set the alarm!

Next thing you know somebody will knock on your door & ask you if you wanna buy an underground bomb shelter again. Deja Va Cuban Missile Crisis reboot. Only kidding!
In all seriousness, that had to be a very frightening experience even with a false alarm. Like you have got to be joking right?
Here's hoping that never happens again. Why does bad stuff always happen to people I like instead of colossal jerks anyway? Just once can't we reverse that trend? LOL!

Got my pot roast going and recipe called for red wine so I opened a bottle of Pinot Noir. I guess I need to help the remaining wine to evaporate!

100GFB will soon be leaving the forum. It’s been great but it’s time to leave the building. It’s nothing on anyone just time to start a new chapter or even a new book! Yikes I hate to read! This forum has been great as I can’t go to the bar down the street and talk Colts football. I don’t live in Indiana nor any of the neighboring states so this provided me with news - good or bad it was news on my team. I enjoyed reading the friendly and sometimes outrageous banter but it was Colts news. I’ll always be a Colts/Indiana fan. As a Colts fan let’s just say my fan base goes back to The Horse, Johnny U, Big Daddy and Mutz. My favorite toy as a youngster was an Indy 500 replica. Lol! It was metal and heavy. SW1/Ruston you could say it was heavy metal. I may be back but it’s time to leave the building.

Farmer Brent why won't some of my plantings - corn/beans don't grow in certain areas. I have a strip of land that I call my garden about 3ft by 20ft and at times nothing will grow in some areas. Example corn has sprouted about a 2ft then nothing then some a couple ft then nothing the rest of the strip!
