  1. I gave my pessimist view, now here's one for the inner optimist. People always said he was the Jordan of football, well he could still come out of retirement if he gets his mind right like Jordan did. Especially if you see him at all the games active with the team still. Don't burn your bridges forever. People chill and have faith he changes his mind and gets healthy and regrets and comes back with a burning fire.

  2. To be fair to the line and both GMs, health and continuity is a major factor in a flourishing offensive line. I think if our line was healthy since day one things could be different. I think Kelly is playing hurt, and so was Mewhort until he got IR'd. AC has been doing decent like always, but the rest of the line has been a mess. You can't predict injuries and I think the NFL needs to seriously reevaluate their playing surfaces and use some modern technology on all fields if it's safer.

Injuries are a league wide problem. But man we sure do seem to take the brunt of them ever since the Manning debacle. Injuries seem to do in our chances almost every year the past few. And obviously the draft isn't an overnight answer and free agency is a crap shoot.

The key to this team's success is a healthy Luck and offensive line. You start shuffling guys on the fly every single Sunday, and we all see the result. So the real question should be, how do we stay healthy? Replacing decent prospects with even better ones will not work out if they can't stay healthy.

yeah but if i recall right.... we still had Mathis, Reggie, Fleener etc.

We almost led the league in sacks under Manusky and it was a team affair. Grigson drafted Fleener. Yes Mathis and Wayne were here but they were past their primes, even though Mathis led the league in sacks, he did get caught doping around that time. I think the year he was suspended we almost led the league in sacks but I could be wrong.

We let go of Grigson's OC and DC for Pagano's. Tell me how that's working for us? I'd say Manusky and Pep weren't the problems, and maybe Grigson wasn't either. This may all be starting to point towards Pagano.

i cant take this % serious. Blaming Ballard because Hooker got blindsided? Comparing him to to the colossal bust Werner? You look dumb lol.

Oh wow an ad hominem attack. How original...Malik is burnt toast and his picks were more luck than skill. We have the worst coverage safeties in the league and it isn't even close. The stats don't lie. We couldn't stop Alabama out there.

so out of 29 players drafted since 2013, only 15 players are still in the league, 6 alone from last year.   Of the total of 4 first rounders, only 1 is still on the team in 4 years and the 2nd is a bench warmer in New England.

Yet somehow we still managed to put a more respectable team around Hasselback, than the highly esteemed JB and company.

  6. Ballard has given us our worse season since 2011 and heads rolled that year. He's the one who went into the season without a stop gap at QB. Grigson was horrible in the draft, but he did get us Vontae and players like Adams who were pro bowlers. Grigson gave us Hasselback who actually had a better record that year than Luck. He got canned for going 8-8 two years in a row and missing the big dance by 1 game. We were a flawed team getting blown out every few weeks then too, but Ballard hasn't given me much hope yet. His draft this year is already looking shaky.

Injuries are a thing? How many of Grigson's picks busted because some players never can recover from what may seem like even a minor injury to a fan? If you lose even a fraction of a step in this game your career can be toast.

Ballard's draft is already looking shaky. What if Hooker never recovers? Even Werner showed flashes. I was at a game he had two sacks and helped us seal the W against a tough Baltimore team. Did he get hurt and never recover or just get rich and lose his hunger? Possibly, but we won't ever know and Grigson gets a bust. What if the same thing happens to Hooker? 7 games of promise and nothing ever again. We gonna give Ballard a pass?

Literally the only way I can even defend Ballard right now is that he is intentionally tanking. He put this roster together and it is a true bottom feeder, something Grigson never even accomplished with a 40 year old Hasselback running the show.

I'm willing to give him time, but he's not off to a great start.

  7. LOL more impact than Grigson? Grigson took what every single expert and analyst said was a 3 win team and they went 11-5 those three years. Ballard met the analyst's expectations of us being horrid. We are a worse team than last year all around. Grigson won GM of the year his first year, Ballard is going to win us a top 5 pick and a general consensus we are a bottom feeder again, but this time they are right.

  8. JB is the most overrated QB to ever play here. He is not a starting quality player. He's proven to be a solid back up and nothing more. He can't make the touch throws and the timing routes. He just bullets it in there. If he was your starting QB, you'd be a perennial loser. He's not even that elusive with his legs either. He's just plain average at best.

I'm not going to give him props for us squeaking past two winless teams. He's not consistent enough to put together long scoring drives that eats clock and lets our defense rest. He hasn't done anything in any second half this whole year. He's the opposite of clutch. Starts strong and slowly fades away as the opposing defense figures out his tendencies. No wonder our pass defense is trash, they have a false sense of being decent playing him in practice every week. Most of the sacks yesterday were him not getting rid of the ball. We won't win another game with him starting so this season is toast.

  9. Kelvin Hayden laid the biggest hit in Colt's history. Maybe I missed it, but I don't think I saw it on there. I think it was on a punt return. I remember when they had the big hit "jacked up" countdown on ESPN, he had like the number 1 or 2 hit of the year for the whole NFL. It was a monster hit!

  10. This is a legit thread. All Colts fans should be on board with this. Grigson has whiffed on too many first round picks and free agents so we are going to miss the playoffs again barring a miracle.

The Irsay's should be doing everything they can to get Peyton Manning here to to be the GM, even if that means keeping on Grigson as the assistant GM while Peyton is the figure head with the final decision. Peyton made this franchise and only he can turn it around like Elway in Denver.

So Peyton please come home and Irsay do the right thing! Let's make this happen. Luck and Peyton on commercials would be a marketing miracle for a league that is losing viewers at the moment. It would also be a way for Peyton to redeem himself here if he could win multiple rings with Luck at the helm of his masterpiece roster.

It really is ideal timing as we take great confidence from a strong road win into a period where players can rest up and focus on the upcoming games.  3 of our next 4 games at LOS and all four could be considered winable the way that the Vikings are playing.

This could be a real turning point for our season going into the next games fresh, with players returning and renewed confidence........or we could blow it and end the season 4-12!  With the Colts, it could really go either way!

What in the current regime's track record suggests we will collapse? Three 11-5 years and last year we finished 8-8 without Luck. Yes I'm still on my heels if we can make a true run or not, but it's possible. So if we go off of track records it seems inevitable we will finish better this year than last because of Luck.

If we could somehow win the next 4 it would be huge! A short week for a Thursday Pittsburgh game after Tennessee scares me, but the Ravens laid the blueprint yesterday.

  12. Everyone is limiting a rookie and a 2nd year guy that hasn't gotten a chance yet to scrubs. Morrison is rough but he has some talent and is actually playing as a rookie and buried on the bench so that gives me hope. Jackson looks like he needs to start next to DQwell. I know what I saw and I saw a decent starter possibly. He might not be a pro bowler right now but could he be? Would you think Gary Bracket would have been when he was backing up Rob Morris and rated a 50 something on Madden?

He has speed that competes with Bracket and his mentality appears to be that of Bob Sanders. Some of you are sleeping on the fact that this guy needs to play now. McNary is slow and good on special teams and as a back up. This guy could be a missing piece to the puzzle. You can tell he plays with a chip on his shoulder and that mentality spreads to more veteran players and inspires them like Bob Sanders did. We need guys with that hunger even if they end up only being situational players.

  13. Is this guy a potential diamond in the rough? He seems decent in coverage and is really young and plays fast and hits hard. For all the talk about our lack of talent, I feel we have some young talent that can be overlooked. I also think Akeem Ayers has some potential in this defense as well. Add in Morrison and are things as bleak at linebacker as people say in the young talent department? Sure another draft could help but I'm a homer fanatic lol.

  14. Everyone calm down. This team is still light years ahead of how Peyton started. Expectations are just so high anymore. I remember losing three or four in a row in 2006 and thinking how much of a bust Dungy was and for the first time almost gave up hope. A defensive coach brought in for defense with a horrendous defense for years and the worst run defense of all time. And this was like 9 years into Manning's/Polian' career on our second coach who appeared to be headed out the door. And don't kid yourself that our roster was stacked, we were still talked about as one of the least talented teams with Manning carrying us by himself. I hated Dungy's conservative play with undersized "quicker" players, and actually do like Pagano's more aggressive nature . Don't sell a coach out as a bust until he's packing. Dungy and Manning were both one and done choke artists before the miracle happened. This team's playoff record is good compared to how Dungy started and don't even bring up Mora. There are positives they just have to turn it around and make the tournament somehow.

Maybe we dont have Bob Sanders, one of the GOATS when healthy, but did the flawed 9-7 Giants have a miracle player? Was that pass rush all world in those 7 losses? I think not. That was a total team effort and turn around. Ours was too but Sanders was playing like the best safety ever in those playoffs. We could still go 7-3 or best case 8-2 if we catch fire and take the division or the wild card and make a run. Lots of football left to quit now. 2006 happened and is our only SB win at home in Indy. Here's to hoping for another Colts miracle to send Gore off right as a first ballot hall of famer and champion!

  15. His last time he started here was in his second year in a new defense and he got 4.5 sacks. His next year he lost his role and whatever promise he showed. I am not sure any of our guys will get more than 5 or 6 sacks, and I feel if he can stay healthy and really try hard off the field, that he could be a 6-8 sack guy just from what he showed in his second year. Now that isn't all world, but is what we have now better with Mathis 0/4?

I know he's a controversial subject around here but I was really disappointing that he did not even live up to being a solid role player/ back up guy and as a first round pick that haunts us to this day. Then I just read that he greeted us on our way home with a smiling face working for a German television station, and thought maybe that's a sign we should just give the guy one more shot as his old job and see if he can get a few sacks. Just let him rush the passer and not play all the dumb coverage they had him out of place doing. Maybe our coaching staff is so bad they are ruining guys careers, because what is happening with all of our players is a joke.

No way Grigson can be wrong that many times. The draft is more like buying a lottery ticket. Every guy we've drafted almost was drafted close to where he was projected. There have been a few reaches, but many misses on guys that were slated around where we picked. We have got to utilize our talent better, and for some reason I am so desperate I want Werner back because he at least showed some glimpses of promise until he was benched last year. The guys we have now, no promise at all so far, so could he really be worse?

  16. Losses like this hang over trust me. It's like you wake up the next morning and you still can't get over it. You think it over and over in your head about what could have happened different to at least make this respectable. Hopefully our team feels that way too. The corners were playing some great coverage at times last night. The Steelers were just that good. We left our whole secondary on an island because of a lack of pass rush. They couldn't hold those physical specimens with perfect coverage when the ball is thrown perfectly to where only they could get it. We get a lot of pass rush from blitzing so Freeman and Thornton being out hurt us tremendously. Also Geathers may have surpassed Mike Adams at this point so the veteran nod may have actually hurt us.

Still for some dumb reason I have hope. I think we take the Jags next week because that's what we do. Look at the Eagles. Winston threw 5 touchdowns against them. We held him to one. They now have a chance at taking their division after beating the Patriots. Sure the Pats are hurt, but look at our team. Let's take care of our division and get healthy. The offensive line is make shift but it will heal watch. A lot of our problems will be solved if we can get healthy going into the playoffs. It's all about getting hot at the right time. And this year more than ever, its any given Sunday. 27/32 teams are still in the playoff race and I would not be surprised by a single one of those teams getting hot and making a run and possibly winning a Super Bowl. Not after a defense even worse than the one we are seeing now turned it around and gave Manning his only ring. Not to mention all the other teams with miraculous turnarounds.

Our defense looked elite in the first two rounds of the playoffs last year after getting smashed by the Steelers this bad. Sure the Patriots game happened, but a good offense with sustained drives leads to a good defense as we've seen before. Luck is coming back so I'm definitely not down to tank to get one possible play maker when it's proven time and time again it does not matter where you draft. Brown was what a 6th round pick? One player drafted like 10 spots higher in the first round will not make a difference. If you eliminate just that one player, we draft higher than anyone else in the rest of the rounds with that logic anyways.

Think if you were a Jags or a Titans fan leading the division right now, would you want to tank it all away? Then neither should we!

  17. He's alright. It was just a strained calf I saw it on the Whalen thread.

I hope that they allow him to start though. If they cut him again I will lose some faith in Grigson. I think he earned his spot last week. I still see that Miami play he was wide open in my head and think we could be in the driver's seat for the bye. And also think maybe those slow starts would not have been so bad.

He should start at slot for us from now on. He's the best natural slot guy we've had since Collie. I think he can help open things up on the outside more. No he may not be the best WR ever, but I personally believe he is the missing piece to our puzzle because of his route running, hands, agility, and ability to get open are great. He is really undervalued around here. Hooefully the FO and coaches value him like they should now. He has all that talent I mentioned and the best connection with Luck on the team. He is a diamond in the rough and needs to start.

Brazil is good but he is better as a 4th and a back up on the outside because Griff is better all around suited for the slot and can go outside when needed as evidenced by his first touchdown.

  18. Its pretty close I think, Griff is faster then what people give him credit for and is much closer to Brazills speed, Griff showed a better vertical at his pro day according to draft scout, I also think he is a bit stronger(also according to Draft Scout), Also Whalen appears to be an affective punt returner, There is also the question of if Brazill can be relied on to keep himself out of trouble in the offseason, I'd have to go with Whalen but Brazill has potential to of course....Although Whalens been injured two years in a row now....so waiting to see the extent of this injury.....unless that info came out and I just have not seen it yet

  19. Definitely rooting for him! He definitely was thrown out there too early in his career. He wasn't ready. I remember that game. I actually felt bad for him because he looked like a boy being abused by man monsters, and boom he goes down for the year. Good to know he is now strong enough. I think there is a pretty decent chance he can stay healthy with an improved training and medical staff, if he lives by their advice.

    Best of luck Ben!

  20. Manning is one of the best, that's all you can ever say. I had to give a speech once on why Brady was better. We had to give the opposite viewpoint of what we believed on an emotionally charged issue. So while everyone gave their speech on serious and sometimes even depressing matters, I took the chance to make people laugh. I mean you can have a preference, but what I learned is no one can really say who is better, and that is just in this generation. It will always be debatable.

But I still look back at the Super Bowl run as miraculous. It was like the one true glimpse of what we tried to always be as a team over the years but failed to do. Sure Manning helped a mediocre team at times look phenomenal. But they did win one for him regardless of what anyone says.

My name is BobbyMorris94 on here because me and my friend always loved Rob Morris on video games and in real life and gave him the nickname. Getting Booger and starting him over that scrub Gardner that got ran over all year and getting Bob Sanders back gave this team new life.

Just have to love the defense that year. They seemed to actually stunt and play the run with Mathis and Freeney and it was lights out with the rest of the squad clicking better than they ever did. I feel guys really put it all on the line, and Rob Morris was a big part of that and led by example. But Bob Sanders was the best safety I ever saw to take the field when was healthy. I don’t care what anyone says. He impacted the game more than any defender I can remember.

Our defense won us that Super Bowl, and lost us the next one we made it to along with the special teams, but that was a much different unit.

The best team wins the Super Bowl, not the best quarterback. Sometimes the best team goes 10-6 in the regular season and catches fire. Sometimes they have arguably the best quarterback, but the Colts were the best team that year because we fixed our horrid defense miraculously when it mattered. And that's why it was so sweet. That level of redemption after all those years getting run over by teams and stomped by the Pats in the playoffs will be hard to overcome as a fan. That was the best championship ever in football for me and will be almost impossible to top even if we win it all again. Ok well Luck getting one his second year would be sweet considering where we were just 2 years ago to this day. But man, that run still gives me the butterflies. Our defense was one of the best I ever saw take the field for those four games.

So if we ever can establish a solid all-around team and defense, and Luck does progress to elite like all signs indicate, we should become a dynasty. We have some curveballs coming for teams this year, should be interesting to see how much this team grows from year one to year two...
