no way would I draft a guy just to play nickel in the 3rd round, besides I think he goes as a FS, Porter is just to small for the 3-4 and would be a better fit in the Robert Mathis role anyway in my opinion if he was drafted into a 3-4 scheme but I think he goes as a 4-3 OLB, he is about 10 pounds heavier then a large SS lol (listed as 6'1" 231 at senior bowl
Mathieu would be drafted in the 4th round, but would be our 3rd pick of the draft since we do not have a 2nd round pick.

with us picking 24th in the draft this year, the updated mock draft has us picking these guys with the pick:
Bucky Brooks has us picking : Johnathan Hankins / DT / Ohio State
Daniel Jerimiah has us picking : Sharrif Floyd / DT / Florida
Charles Davis has us picking :Jessie Williams / DT / Alabama
Gil Brandt has us picking : Alex Okafor / DE / Texas
I like those 4 as being possible first rounders for us, but if Robert Woods (WR / USC) is still available i think we have to take him. I have been stressing all year we need to focus on defense in the draft, but i also think Woods could be our replacement go to receiver when Wayne retires. and they have him falling to the 27th pick to the houston texans.....
At the same time, im also liking Matt Elam for our first pick. Safety out of florida. after Vaccaro (Safety /Texas) going in the top 20, i think Elam is the next best Safety. and we need a safety. and i dont know if we can trust passing up on a good safety and hoping we can get rambo in the 3rd round.
my first 3 pick wishlist:
1st round) Elam / or Woods
3rd round) Porter (OLB / Texas A&M)
4th round) Mathieu ( im sticking with this pick, i think it would be a safe pick and he will be a good nickel back)

Per NFL.com
The Colts made the playoffs with an aggressive, downfield passing attack directed by offensive coordinator Bruce Arians. The newly hired Arizona Cardinals coach doesn't dink-and-dunk, and he loves to talk about not coming home with any bullets left in the gun. The Colts hired former Stanford offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton, who ran the West Coast offense, to replace Arians.
"I think it will be a hybrid," Luck said during a teleconference from the Pro Bowl on Thursday. "There's so many great things that coach Arians taught us, coached us up on. I think Pep has some really great stuff that he knows and he coached. I think we're going to do whatever gives us the best chance to win, whether it is chunk the ball, or the short stuff, we'll figure it out.
i love the air it out go for the long ball type offense. i cant stand the WCO. hopefully they do mix it up.

As jvan said, all QB's do that...or they clap their hands...it's basically the shotgun version of saying "hut". And just like when they're under center, the ball isn't always snapped on the first leg lift, sometimes it's the second, sometimes the third etc. Otherwise it would be totally predictable and QBs would get sacked a lot more often when they're in shotgun. ;)
actually this year i have seen indy do more of the guard tapping the center while luck was in shotgun, to snap the ball. seen a few teams use that strategy this year.
-
This really isnt a surprise. we all figured he would be out, some were hoping he would be able to stay but he does not fit a 3-4 scheme. i can see jax picking him up. maybe even oakland.
-
TY Hilton. prob the best rookie WR this year. 800+ yards and led the team in receiving touchdowns with 9. and if im not mistaken led all rookie WR's in both categories also.
-
i have noticed that with manning though, as was said in the video...Manning kicks his leg just as soon as the ball is going to be snapped. and he still does it in denver.
-
Try playing Peyton Manning in Madden. He runs the play clock down to zero almost every play, it's not a fun experience.
yeah i hate playing against him also lol. i had to face him twice in one season (including post season) game seemed like it took forever when the broncos were on offense. lucky for me after that second season of him being on the broncos, he decided to retire with out winning the superbowl as a bronco. Luck 2 Superbowls, Manning - 0 in those two seasons . next time you play in career mode, give up two 3rd round picks to new england and you can get the " gronk " lol. thats what i did, had gronk, fleener and allen going at it.
-
I agree, looks very good for the Colts! I was looking at the teams we play next season and there are about 13-14 very winnable games, the 2 that seem less likely being home vs the broncos and on the road vs the 49ers.
I wouldn't necessarily say the Seahawk's and the Bengals are easy. plus we struggle against KC alot it seems like.
-
So we're looking at least 20 million roughly?I guess we can backload alot of these contracts.I just want to make sure we keep in mind how much it will cost to keep luck in a couple of years. He's top priority.
I Was waiting for someone to mention that aspect. Luck is top priority over everyone else. if he keeps getting better and starts throwing together 4000+ yard 30+ TD seasons until the end of his rookie contract he is going to want big bucks and you cant blame him.

Hmmm.... Greg Rosenthal reports the same:
Jets' owner is pondering to trade Revis. Cap problems, if I get it right.
His earlier stats are impressive (in most of 2012 season he was injured), but I don't know in what shape he is now...
If Jets are dumb enough to trade him... let's offer them a 3rd round pick and Drew Stanton for Revis. I think they need a servicable QB.
Stanton is a FA, so i dont think we can trade him lol. but i also would not off the jets a 3rd rounder. all of the CB's traded this year were had for a 4th round pick or a lower pick. except for vontae davis inwhich was had for a 2nd round pick. so give the jets our 4th round pick for revis, or our 6th round pick for him lol.
-
like i have said on the other thread or two about this topic he is not worth our 1st pick. sorry but the guy wants a raise every year, he has a bad attitude, and he is only about himself. we do not need that drama in indy. i dont care how good of a player he is. one bad apple brings down the whole locker room.
-
Must not have been around during the Pollard/Dilger days... The Colts did the 2 TE thing a while ago.
you know pollard was on the show amazing race lol.
-
Two TEs on the line and one in the backfield lined up behind them. Or some other variations of that.
I seen this play on madden
-
Truth. A big, tall receiver doesn't HAVE to be a Wideout...We saw a few flashes of Fleeners ability to go up for a catch this year, and I'd only expect that to improve.
i honestly think fleener could be moved to the slot WR position and be there full time.
-
I'm pretty sure that the Patriots have 4 TEs that could be starters on half the teams in the league.
half??? id say more like 3/4 of the teams in the league lol. although im starting to question the durability of the " gronk ". breaks the same arm but in a different place by falling out of bounds, starting to wonder if he should stick to modeling lol
-
Give them this a 1st this year, next year's 2nd and 3rd. Maybe a player thrown in.Revis is the best defensive player in the league when healthy.
im hoping this is a joke that you are posting lol. 1st rd, and next years 2nd and 3rd rounder??? the guy wants a pay raise every year, has a bad attitude and only cares about himself. the colts dont need that kind of drama.
-
Would you like to see former Colts C Jeff Saturday hired to be the Colts new assistant offensive line coach ??
CHAMPIONSHIP BONUS:
Shannon Sharpe was very vocal on the CBS post-game show about Bill Belichick's "declining" a post-game interview with CBS following the Patriots loss to the Ravens - at home - on Sunday.
Do you think that Belichick should be fined by the NFL for "blowing off" the post-game interview with the network covering the game ??
yeah belichick should be fined. post game interviews are manditory. he refused to do it.

can we please just stay away from drafting all kinds of stanford guys. were not trying to be the indianapolis cardinal here. defense needs to be the main focus in the draft.
1) Johnathan Banks/ Xavier Rhodes
3) Rambo
4) Sean Porter
5) MAthieu (Nickel Back)
6) D-lineman
use the free agency period as a focus on offense. more holes on defense to worry about
-
I prob wont watch and just have someone tell me when luck is finaly in the game and then ill turn the tv on. or just not watch it at all and look at the stats after the game is over.
-
this will be interesting to watch. so who is starting the game???
-
Free Agency i think we need to get offensive lineman. maybe grab a ROLB.
i think our draft needs to mainly be focused on defense as was stated by another poster CB in the first round, and id like to see the colts get the CB from Texas A&M. cause after the CB from bama he is the next best CB who more then likely will drop to us at 24. Rambo (Safety) in the 3rd round, Mathieu in the 4th round (could be a good nickel back) and with our 6th pick get a DL.
-
we will be fine with out him. he will regret signing with the pats, especially when brady retires and the pats fall back to just an average team.
-
I wasn't responding to the OP, my point is that without any of the field issues I saw him as fourth round talent in the NFL.
oh, i apologize then lol.but i agree i dont see him as nothing more then 4th round or later talent. which is where i still think we should draft him. regardless of his off field issues i beleive he could be a very good nickel back for us

considering a couple NFL scouts including chris landry has said he is projected as a 2nd or 3rd round pick but will fall to 4th round or early 5th round. so i would say 4th round is about right.
