The fact I mention a lynch mob should hint that it is not completely literal to most. Basic reading comprehension should allow you to see the point in spite of the hyperbole. But lets look at the the parts. If Ballard passes at QB and takes a DL at #4 I doubt I will be the only one going from neutral (or even positive) on Ballard to seeing him negatively, or be in the minority suggesting he deserves to be fired. I also think that many will question Irsays judgement if he allows Ballard to go this direction. Which part of this is irrational (not whether you agree with the opinion, but is actually irrational)?

It was meant to stress a point: "that this draft should be QB or ammunition for '24 QB and anything else is just the Colts continuing to spin its wheels in mediocrity", rather than be completely literal (which I am sure you knew, but felt like taking a pot shot). Am I really going to join a lynch mob ... no, but I will go from being neutral (admittedly slightly negative leaning) on Ballard to a firm member of the fire Ballard camp. I also know that Irsay likely signed off on it. I really like Irsay and frequently defend him, but a decision like this would force me to question Irsay's decision making, and start thinking maybe he should step aside (although I doubt that would happen). That being said the point behind the point is I am over the "Ballard method" and if he is so set in his ways he can't see his own flaws and adapt to the changing NFL then he needs to be replaced. And if Irsay can't see it then the Colts maybe need a new set of eyes steering the ship. Again I think both are unlikely, but doesn't change the fact that one or both of those things may be what's needed if the Colts pass on QB.

He should be fired if he does this ... I'll officially join the lynch mob if this happens; and Irsay should immediately turn over control of the franchise to his daughters if he allows it.

Levi's isn't necessarily the top of my list. But Colin Cowerd asked to name another QB that was jacked. I've seen some Luck pics where dude was pretty ripped, maybe not quite to the Levi's level (and not taking bathroom selfies), but definitely if they stood next to each other when Luck was at his biggest I bet they would be close.

You are picking outliers/exceptions to the rule ... it's in the same vein as saying you can get elite QBs late just look at Brady. The odds getting a high level starting QB are already not in our favor, why further stack the odds against ourselves by gambling on another variable. Parlay bet often?

If the Colts could get Fields for 35 I would be tempted to do it and double dip by still taking a QB at #4. Hedge my bets. Fields flames out we have a shot at a top QB in 2024 and our guy from 2023 .... three chances to hit.

What if they suspect the Texans want the same guy. You don't just let them take him and settle for your second choice if he is truly your guy. You pay what it takes to get your franchise QB, you don't get this opportunity often. If they view them all as similar than sure sit and take whoever drops, I doubt they will not have a preference though.

If they love one QB, they should pay whatever it takes to get Chicago's pick to guarantee they get their guy. This isn't a pick you try to get cute with, or just take whichever QB drops.

Well we would have a QB and a LT and no Q. I haven't done it ... But I bet if someone went through and drafted straight off (maybe moving up or down a few players to fill needs) one of the rankings/big boards over Ballards tenure that our team wouldn't look much worse than it currently does.
