I agree this season has been a major league disappointment. I think most everyone had us in the talk to be one of the teams that could win the AFC. I'm going to say it again I'll never forgive number 12 for what he did. He screwed over the fans and that is not acceptable or forgivable. This is the last time I'll say this but it had to be said us the season of hope ended with a thud.

I feel the exact same way .   You’re not alone bro

Does the Bert Jones count if it hasnt fit me since i was 10?

Funny thing is, they were all gifts.

It’s funny because I was old enough to have a Bert Jones jersey but living in Phoenix we weren’t able to watch a lot of Colts games I just had to watch them whenever they were on and look at the paper the next day  would’ve loved to of gotten a Dickerson one I have all the other ones plus a few but I like the Burt Jones idea

    Seriously?     You must be new.

I think it was a lame post.    Full of falsehoods and opinion,  but like many posts around here,  almost totally devoid of facts.

This is an on-going debate here.      Opinion over facts.

I have a difference of opinion with the poster.     Too hard for you to understand?

My whole statement about the heart of a champion was my opinion that was the just of it can you really not understand that?  I don’t care what opinion you have , to respond to my post the way you did was pretty lame and tells me you probably need to get out of your parents basement.  And btw,   I’ve been watching the Colts for over 50 years.   That doesn’t make me an expert but to say I must be new is pretty dumb.

Yes, because mental health issues were not well understood when he played.

nice to see how far we haven't come.

I know this is months late but I had to respond .   You are not understanding my posts I think you should re-read them.   I talked about the heart of a champion.   As an example Roberto Duran after the no mas fight which in my opinion he lost because he had to lose so much weight and he was absolutely in no shape to fight Leonard as quickly as that fight happened.    Duran came back because he had the mentality of a world champion took out David Moore pretty easily and went toe to toe with one of the greatest middleweights of all time and darn near won the fight.   I might add in his career he beat the pants off of Leonard  and held the light weight championship of the world for seven years.  It’s because he has the mental fortitude that it takes to be the champion of the world.   Peyton Manning coming back from a terrible injury he had the heart of a world champion and that’s what it takes.   Andrew luck admitted that he wasn’t mentally capable of playing period.   He has that right and I understand that.   Last year when he played against the Chiefs in the playoffs he looked terrible and I started to questions that heart at that point.    I’m not trying to put down Andrew luck he certainly has the talent to be a world champion but he is has admitted he doesn’t have the mentality to do it.   I want a Roberto Derann or a Peyton Manning leading  my team.

Is my math wrong or does 6+4 = 10?

Well by my standards you are correct however in this day and age everything subjective in fact there’s no wrong answer anymore if 6+4 = 9 hey that’s OK as long as you feel good about it.  That’s the most important thing

Honestly I'm glad Ballard didn't make a move there.

Look at the weapons that where traded.  Emmanual Sanders who is 32 was traded for a 3rd and a 4th.

Ballard has gotten Okereke, Willis, Hines, Mack and Stewart in the 3rd and 4th rounds.  You want to trade away the probability of getting a player of that caliber at age 22 away for a receiver who might play for us for 2 or 3 years tops.  Especially when he's going to come in and not know the offense?

Mohamed Sanu who is 30 was traded for a 2nd.  This guy is a career 2nd or 3rd receiver.  Ballard has drafted Leonard, Smith, Turay, Lewis, Ya-Sin, Bangou, Campbell.  You want to throw away the likelyhood of getting that kind of talent at age 22 for some temporary help?  Campbell for the record showed what he could do for the offense, he just needs to hold the ball better.

Stand pat, TY is only out 3 or 4 weeks anyways, not the whole season.  We arn't in win now mode.  This team isn't winning a SB.  Don't throw good draft picks away chasing wins in a season that you know you won't be making a deep playoff run regardless.

I agree however I do like Sanders  that guy is a very very good receiver still at 32

This game hurt,  but its pretty amazing we were in position to win it considering what happened.

    Kelly Out

    Brisset out

    TY out

    Hoyer pick 6

Vinny....ugh, man I love the guy but he cost us this game. He hits the extra point and were not going for two. Then we dont need a 45 yarder at the end to stay in it. Just so harsh

I feel the same way  my concern  is that all the injuries are really hurting us  and we can’t play the game that we can and are capable of playing.

  8.  All I can say is I like this young man .   He is smart and   He makes good decisions for his youth And he has a very strong arm.   Is he going to be a Peyton Manning no not at all but right now he’s not making stupid rookie mistakes and he is putting our team in a position to win games .   When luck wimped out and quit I was very upset and thought we were in trouble.   I don’t feel that way now at all .    I now think that we have a chance to win any game we play and as this kid learns more we as a team will be even better .    I love what our coaches are doing we usually have the highest possession of time over the teams that we play that helps our young defense.    I see us as a team of only getting better and who knows maybe Super Bowl bound in the next year or two.

I think this is one of the most well rounded management teams in Colts history.  Great FO, great coaching staff. The results on the field are a natural consequence of that.  We need to keep Reich and Ballard happy for as long as we can.

Irsay is doing a great job of shutting up too, which really helps.

I have to agree with you 100% I love this front office all the way down to the coaching I never liked a lot of the Colts teams that they put on the field  during Paytons tenure here.   The front office has done it just an incredible job with great young players with very promising futures I just love this team.

I didn't know stats alone won championships.  We had the greatest statistical QB of all times & he flamed out more often than not in the playoffs & the 2 he did win he was mostly carried to those 2 by a great running game & a great defense.

We we should be 2-0 right now with both coming on the road vs AFC opponents.  As long as we keep winning you can keep the stats (I do see 5 td’s to 1 int though).  When the wins stop coming we can focus strictly on stats.

We’ll see in a few weeks how we compete against one of the better teams in the league (K.C.).  I know our last statistical marvel in Luck went in there and flamed out last post season.  So maybe just maybe the stats alone don’t win championships but good teams do.  And that’s what CB & Frank are building.

Are you kidding me ?    Everybody  says Peyton Manning wasn’t good in the playoffs he had a few tough ones but for the most part it wasn’t on him in fact his playoff stats are pretty good if you look them up and put them against Brady .    My computer just crashed otherwise I would put up some stats that would prove you wrong.   Did you see how our defense could never stop anybody only one year did they actually stop someone and that’s when they won the Super Bowl.

I didn't have nearly as much trouble with that call as I did with all the non calls for holding.   Good God.   I thought some of the chargers o lineman were sledding

Boy isn’t that the truth I was screaming about the Holding it was totally obvious .

    This deserves its own topic.

First of all, I feel like the refs could have gone either way on the call, but they didn't "get it wrong."  This is basically the Dez Bryant catch, which was by far the least controversial of the "controversial" no-catch calls (Megatron, Dez, James, and now Ebron) and the bandaid the league put on the rules doesn't change the fundamental nature of how possession works when a receiver leaves his feet.

The rule is very simple.  If you're leaving your feet to get the ball, and the ground knocks it loose, you never had it.  Ebron made a great attempt to keep control but the ground knocked it loose.  Just like Bryant Ebron tried to corral the loose ball on his body, but it was still a loose ball.  Result: incomplete pass, and he never had possession.   Obviously you can't score a touchdown without possession of the football.

Does it suck?  yes.  Does it look to the layman's eye like a touchdown?  Yes, he's across the plane and the ball didn't actually fall off his body until after he came to rest, just like Dez.  But he still doesn't control the football and the rules are what they are.

I think he had possession of it in the air no problem it’s when he hit the ground that it bobbled

I don’t think you can crunch numbers or compare JB to other QBs and come up with a  definitive answer how he produces.

Stats can be misleading at times too. For example, did they (scores) come in garbage time versus when it mattered and the game was on the line time.

That’s what separates good QB vs mediocre IMO.

I think you’re right I think we’re just gonna have to wait and see what happens  and hope for the best.

I don’t think we will have to be worried about another 2006 Divisional meltdown like the Steelers dished out.

Never has any Colts game upset me more, than that game.

OMG.  Stop it that was the worst game in Colts history I have tried to forget that for years now.   That was the best team the Colts ever had with Peyton Manning no question about it but they were held out their last two games and didn’t start playing until the end of the game .   Tony Dungee screwed that up as far as I’m concerned I hate that game I’ve never watched it since.   And I have it on DVD . LOL

    Hey there Lolly,

You were among say the first five friends I made on Colts Forum. I hate to see you in pain since I consider you my brother from another mother man. Yes, Luck's departure truly sucks indeed because it hit us all from left field & nobody I mean nobody saw this coming. Uh huh. We all feel like we are wandering through the wilderness in a fog because Luck would have won a SB with Ballard & Reich running our squad now. It just feels like Andrew's HOF pedigree wasn't reached & that's what makes this so hard to swallow. Things were really starting to click for Chewbacca man. He was releasing the ball faster, our OL was giving him time to throw & slice thru opposing secondaries, I wanted to see Devin Funchess take his career to new heights like Eric Ebron did in a new setting; our fan expectations for the team were so high & then the bottom fell out. It blows bro.

Yep, this season feels lost already man. Believe me, I get it. Darn it. I'm really gonna miss Luck. I just connected with him on a strong level. I get it if fans are furious with him. Not me. I just feel like his legacy never got fulfilled that's all. Not my place to demand that of him I know, but Andrew was destined for NFL & yellow jacket greatness & I have no idea where to put those potential validations right now. Sigh...

Yeah, we all understand the beating Luck has taken under GM Ryan Grigson & the inability to protect Luck contributed to his decision to walk away from the game he loves.

I sympathize with your anger & frustration buddy. To go from the highest of highs to basement cellar lows really takes the wind out of loyal fans sails no doubt. It feels like the world kicked you in the family jewels & no amount of ice is gonna ease, subdue, or alleviate this level of agony & excruciating pain. Hang in there Lolly.

Very well written sir you hit the nail on the head.   This is exactly how I feel.   Because of my age I think the odds of me seeing the colts win a Super Bowl again is pretty slim.   I’ve already lived through those years between Johnny Unitas and Peyton Manning and I just don’t want to go through that again and that’s what I see happening.    Thank you for writing what you did  and helping an old man get through this.

Both played, running for their lives. Both carried their teams farther than deserved. Both careers were cut short by injuries. I see them both the same.

Except for the fact that you never heard Burt Jones say he mentally couldn’t take it  so he decided to retire.
