  1. Thanks for the comments. I remember the excitement when Marchibroda was rehired. Maybe that really has been overlooked as a point of "return to greatness". The Colts have had a few bad seasons sprinkled in but really have been competitive since then. Everytime we visit the inlaws in Indy and I see kids wearing Colts apparel I always get a smile on my face and remember when that used to be me.

  2. Thanks Ken,appreciate your comments as always. I was watching that documentary on Elway and the Colts and how it all went down. It just made me sick in the stomach to see how low the Colts were thought of back then and the years that followed it all. Like watching a family member go through tough times and never anything going right for them, all you can do is show support. We were diehard to the core no doubt. I think thats why I appreciate so much what Polian, Manning and his team mates and all the coaches did for this franchise, they made it respectable again. That all just came to my mind watching that show. I know you were hoping the Peyton era ended differently, its kind of ironic that he signed with Denver with Elway running the show there when you think about it.

  3. In the old 4-3 scheme I would almost agree on Angerer as a "4" maybe 3.5. Not sold on him tho in this 3-4 yet to rate him that high. Linkenbach at G might rate a 2 but not so much at OT. Bethea didnt impress me so much last year after being such a reliable, solid player in years past. Maybe takes time to adjust?..just my opinion

  4. I honestly believe sitting the players in the 3rd qrt against the Jets divided the Colts fanbase. Thats where Polians "spiral down" started and fell out of favor with many fans. Personally it never really bothered me, would have been nice to go 16-0 during regular season but winning a championship was the ultimate goal and sitting those players had nothing to do with losing to the Saints. I like the fact Grigson is looking for certain type players and is sticking to that formula. No lollygaggers or lazy arses. Cant wait for the draft to see what other talent gets brought into the fold!

  5. I`m with you Ken. It seems like I`ve been expecting the Colts to lose games this year but somehow they pull it off. Midway through the 4th quarter when Luck threw his 3rd Int I was really starting to have some bad thoughts. Does Luck have accuracy issues? Some of his passes seem to sail on him at times, then he somehow hits Brazill, on the run for that TD pass. Effortlessly! I predicted Colts 34 Lions 31 in the Forum, because I will not pick against them, not because I honestly thought they`d beat the Lions. But they did!

  6. Don`t see any need to panic either Ken. There were some good moments and the offense moved the ball pretty well all game long. Luck took some shots downfield and only missed by inches. Lack of a pass rush just seemed to really make the DB`s look bad, and not sure if that is our bad or Pats O line doing a great job. Brady is hard to beat when given that much time to throw. I really thought the special teams had atleast made it to a mediocre level this year but sure took a step backwards today, that really got things going for the Pats. Like I heard Luck say in the postgame interview, losing that badly still only counts as 1 loss, nothing more and something they will look and learn from. The LB`s still look like a strong point for this team. Why arent the Colts running the ball more when they are actually becoming pretty good at it?

  7. The whole time I`m reading this I`m nodding my head "yep, yep and yep"! You really know how to tie everything together. I hope this young team doesnt let all this positive coverage interfere with their journey and can take a 1 game at a time approach like the Colts of past years were so good at doing. Looking good, tough test for sure next week

  8. Well done Ken. You are right about trying to figure out which team this is. Hope the progression is from practice, great coaching and game experience. Its is very ironic and you make a great point how "familiar" this all looks. Great QB with some good weapons, a not so good Oline and an inconsistent defense.. different faces/players,schemes and coaches yet same result. The LB`er play has been great, but never thought it would be Freeman and Fokou leading the way.Very impressive. And Reggie grabbing the headlines nationwide, he`s so deserving. Couldn`t be happier for that guy. He could have moved on to a team with guaranteed playoff hopes but stayed to help lay the groundwork of this reload. And might have a longshot to reach playoffs anyways..too soon to tell but sure better chance than last year at this point!

  9. As always it starts in the trenches and thats where the Colts need to improve. Its like they have all the accessories but are lacking the "core". Hopefully its just a matter of technique and with experience will get better as the season wears on. That recieving corps is really impressive, they all look interchangable! On D Nevis seemed to play well and Hughes was a beast, never thought he`d be that good.

  10. So many factors go into whether the trade was worth the pick. How deep is the college CB class coming out next year? As you mentioned if he plays well then obviously that helps. The Colts will have tons of cap space also to pick up young proven players via free agency and trades. Hopefully the trade made the defense better for 2012 and Davis gets his act straight off the field, something we never had to worry about with Polian as GM..great assessment Ken

  11. If I hadn`t watched the last 2 games and saw for myself, reading your blog explains it all. Great observations as always Ken. I`m so excited about the young recieving corps, who do you not keep? Sambrano hasn`t impressed me much after all the pre-camp hype but all the rest are off the charts..so far

  12. I know its not the time to defend owning guns but proponets of gun ownership are already jumping on this. But think this through! Just this past friday 2 armed men (the bad guys with a gun) entered my main welding supply store wearing masks. When the owner brandished his own gun (good guy with a gun) they fled out of the store. End of story! Fortunately, nobody was injured and nothing was stolen. What if the owner wasn`t protected? I`m glad I dont have to know the answer to that, he`s a long time family friend and a good man. The title to your blog says it all, and if you take the guns away from "good people" it will only make it easier for the "bad people" because they will find a way to get them. Believe that..

  13. Agree 100%!! I dont know why "they" hate on the Colts so much. Its like no matter what they do its never good enough. It always seems to go back to "the move in the middle of the night" that people point sarcasm at, which if they took time to read the facts would understand there are 2 sides to that story. But yes you are right, this franchise gets no respect but thats ok, we believe in blue..always have, always will! GO COLTS!

  14. I had read the same thing Brent and it had me a little worried. Like I said I tried to keep an open mind, plus being spoiled with Peyton`s professionalism on and off the field it just magnified it. But every interview I see gives more reason to like the kid and I believe he is genuine in his remarks. Time will tell but I think he`s going to be something special
