On ESPN 1st Take today, the guest host said "How much does love cost?" He was referring to NBA player Kevin Love who plays for the Minnesota Timberwolves & might be traded. I've never laughed so hard in my life. LOL!

Okay, it's official now UCF QB Blake Bortles said recently that he models his NFL game after BIG Ben in Pittsburg & Andrew Luck in INDY due to their body types & game changing clutchness. I will follow his career closely now. Anybody who gives Chewbacca some props is awesome 2 me...Nice!

Mr. Bortles decision making skills off the field are not bad either. Have you seen his girlfriend Lindsay Duke? Not too shabby. Google her name. You can thank me later. QBs always seem to land the prototype blond, cheerleader persona females don't they. It must be the money as CB Deion Sanders sang about so many years ago. Ha! Ha!

" I follow the style and techniques of SW1, Mozart, Zarathustra, and Miss Piggy!" LOL 100GFB! A nerd, a piano man, a German philosopher, & a sassy, opinionated pig walk into a bar...Hi Yaw! Miss Piggy Got Mad & hit me so SW1 couldn't finish my spectacular punchline. Clearly Miss Piggy brings home the bacon. Oh crap, she heard that. Gotta Run away quickly now. Bye. Ha! Ha!

I just watched the debut of NBC's "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" & I was not very impressed at all...They gave Conan O'Brien the axe for this guy? Are you serious? LOL!

I like Craig Ferguson because he reminds me of my father meaning you never know what he's going to say. He'd ask the same question to his neighbor, the President, or the Queen of England. He has no filter. He just says whatever pops in his head depending on his mood. Craig is also good at reading people & matching their tempo/body language. Plus, his Scotland stories always crack me up. Craig is comfortable in his own skin & what U see is what U get.

Jimmy Fallon also did a rap song to a Brian William's newscast, but why is this technique only applied to rap & hip hop songs as opposed to rock, blues, reggae, country, or heavy metal? It was clever though. See...

Peter Seeger died today. It's also sad for me when influential protest singers pass on. "Where Have All The Flowers Gone?" My dad used to sign that to me as a little boy whenever I had trouble falling asleep. I just appreciate singers who use the power of music to change peoples minds to do things that they didn't think were possible. Very Cool.

I just saw a new fad straight out of Norway called "Slow TV." You watch a cruise voyage for 7 days or go on a train trip, or watch ladies knit something from start to finish. With America's short attention span, I don't see this idea taking the US by storm anytime soon...Do you?
-
Here is a some additional background material on what "Slow TV" actually is for clarification purposes:
-
Hey, does this mean citizens in North America can now watch paint dry with unbridled enthusiasm now? Or watch an entire hot rod car being taken out of a junkyard & rebuild back to it's pristine form? What other tedious tasks could slow TV find a use or audience to spend countless hours viewing a project for? Writing an entire symphony, practicing, & performing in Carnegie Hall? The possibilities are endless...

Did you ever notice when someone says to you "May I be frank?" No one ever replies back. "You can be Frank as long as I can be Steve." LOL! And how come no one ever says "Well, to make a short story long." Ha! Ha! Not enough comedians discuss language anymore. God, I miss George Carlin. Sigh...
-
My favorite espionage author died today. Bummer. SW1 is really sad. "The Hunt For Red October" was the 1st book of his I ever read. CIA Agent Jack Ryan was a fantastic character BTW. All Intelligence Agencies should lower their flags half mast today IMHO.

Thanks my friends for chiming in on this topic. I appreciate it. True, I didn't know Mr. Clancy personally usually when a favorite musician of mine dies I play a medley of their best known songs. I can't really do that here. Options: Do musical scores from the blockbuster films or watch my favorite flicks based off his books. It helps me grieve or cope with the loss I guess.

Today in my travels, this old cowpoke was assisted by 3 individuals named Dalton, Colt, & a very pretty woman named Cheyenne...I'm not sure what all the Western symbolism means exactly, but if I come across a guy named Dusty next who offers me a shot of whiskey & a horse does that indicate a "Happy Trails" ride into the sunset? I'm just curious...Thoughts?

Nice to have you back mom terp. Yeah, the transition from day shifts to nights shifts & back again can throw anybody off their game, mess up their body clock, & make them wonder which end is up sometimes. Hang in there. I have nothing against horses or the people that ride them BTW. SW1 has a goofy personality & I joke around a lot; it's in my nature. That's who I am. Have a nice day...
-
Thank you for your thoughtful words as well mom terp. I appreciate that. I knew you weren't being cruel my friend. I was just clarifying my statement & eliminating any ambiguity that's all. Yup, personal preferences sometimes take a backseat to paying the bills. I hope that you & your husband get some quality time together just to chill, decompress, & relax once in awhile though.

Last night, I was watching recorded episodes of my favorite late night comedian, Conan OBrian, on TBS & he always cracks me up. He will do a joke slamming Dominoes pizza or Corona beer & then find out they are a sponsor selling ads on his show. LOL! Then he scolds his producer Jeff Ross for not stopping him from telling the joke. HA! HA!
-
I was watching my nephew Matthew yesterday. He comes into my room, steps on the bed, gets flat on his back, stares at the TV upside down & asks "SW1 why are we here? What's your favorite cookie? Oreos or Chips A Hoy? & What do you like better the cookie or the creamy center? HA! HA! It made me chuckle. Little ones have a great perspective on things IMHO...

This reminds me of when my daughter was only 4. I was driving down the street and watching her in the mirror, in her own little world in the backseat. She was smiling and starring out the window. I asked her "What are you smiling about?"
She answered ......."candy".
How awesome is that? To be a child again. That simply thinking about candy could make them so happy.

You know, considering that Rome has a new Pope Francis & the Vatican has their own bank, do cardinals, bishops, & nuns that work for the Roman Catholic Church get stylish new Pope checks now & free Communion wafers too? How bout 3 free confessional pardons too? Just Kidding! What NFL team does Francis favor anyway?
-
A bank located in Cyprus on an island country in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, east of Greece, south of Turkey, west of Syria, Lebanon, northwest of Israel and north of Egypt is seeking European Union bailout money despite alleged ties to the Russian Mob. I have never heard laundered money called "hot & dark money" before. Have you?

Gramz always talks about the places these status updates often go. "Early withdrawal - I won't go there!!!!!!" "Two roads diverged in a wood, and I I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference." --Robert Frost "The Road Not Taken." Sometimes 100GFB, I really wanna go off road away from the Interstate. HA! HA! But I digress... Good one my friend...
-
This Conan OBrian joke made me laugh: "Sadly, Kiss Guitarist Ace Frehley is facing foreclosure on his house. He will only rock-n-roll half the night & party every other day." Apparently, he went to "Detroit Rock City" & told every woman there "I Was Made For Lovin' You"

The 2013 Oscars were interesting...Argo won Best Picture, Jennifer Lawrence won Best Actress, & Quentin Tarantino won best Original Screenplay...Nice!!!

I'm a huge "Les Mis" fan, and I "knew" that Anne Hathaway would win best supporting actress from the moment I saw the first trailer in early December. Unbelievable. Haven't actually seen any of the contending movies yet, but the Oscars (as always) help you focus and make a list. I'll take a top nomination as a recommendation over a reviewers comments any day.

The older I get, the more I think the phrase "based on a true story" means artistic license on steroids or accuracy almost entirely abandoned for movie sensationalism & pure entertainment alone...

"classified, and so important to people. They should put a huge disclaimer up at the beginning and end." Good point MAC. Redaction brought to you by a black sharpie. HA! HA! For those who don't understand the joke, classified documents from the FBI, CIA, & NSA are often concealed from public view without the right level of security clearance. Any material released to the public deemed 'sensitive' is often blacked out line by line or paragraph by paragraph.

"He even waited to see Private Ryan and said the depiction of the war on Omaha Red made D-Day look like Walt Disney. Just tells us how bad it really was." Mickey Mouse holding a machine gun...Hmmm...All kidding aside, your pops is right. Accurately capture the moment correctly please. Don't insult the memory of the veterans please, especially those men who never made it home. Thank you.
-
Just once I wanna hear a SB winning Championship QB say in reference to this question: "Joe Flacco you just won the SB,what are gonna do now?" " I'm going to Universal Studios, Buckingham Palace, & Cairo Egypt. Anywhere but Disneyland that place blows & Mickey Mouse is a prima donna man." HA! HA! I love throwing a wrench in the works...
-
I just would love to see ESPN sweat & feel uncomfortable since that company is owned by Walt Disney. I'd love giving off the wall answers to commonly anticipated TV & media reporter questions. No need to be harsh or mean just delightfully odd & unconventional. That's exactly how I would roll anyway.

Earlier today, I was sent a new Digital Video Recorder from Dish TV since my old one died. UPS drops of the package, I put the old DVR in the box, place the free mailing label on it, & then I notice the label is a Fed EX label. Does that make any sense? UPS drops it off, but I must send the DVR back thru Fed EX?

" it's free to SW, not to Dish. Nothing ships for free.) " True Mac. Just out of curiosity, I took the old DVR to a place for pickup without realizing that the location in question only picks up UPS packages. I had people at this location weigh the box just to see how much the postage would cost. $18.75. Yup, there's no such thing as a free lunch these days is there MAC. HA! HA!
-
Could have to do with inbound rates vs. outbound rates. Mac makes a good point....returns usually go to a totally different location/facility. There are some other odd reasons such as rates. Even though they are using each other...sometime with as many shipments returned, the FedEx rate may actually be free.....amazing how that can happen with multiple shipments/rating.

Okay, this is a pet peeve of mine especially around Christmas time. Buy $75 dollars worth of our merchandise & get a "free" $100 gift card...The word "free" means you are under no obligation to buy anything right? When will companies understand this factual reality? Sigh...

Staples seems to be the best with their rebates. The last two times I bought something that was supposed to have a 10dollar visa gift card attached to it, it arrived in about 10 days. Sure it would be easier just to knock the 10.00 off at the * and let Staples collect it, but I was able to use it elsewhere so that was a plus.

I just paid my car insurance online for this month. I have a question: How does an insurance company calculate the value of a pet anyway? Income potential/earning potential is out. Is it based on specific breeds & medical care as the dog or cat ages? Are reptiles excluded from insurance protection too? I ponder peculiar items like this a lot. It's how my mind is wired I guess...

" Do they cover "cost of adoption" of replacement children as well? Just rubs me the wrong way." No argument there MAC. It seems condescending & cruel to me too. Well said my friend! When I thought my calico cat named Gypsy had died in the 1984 tornado that destroyed our home, I would have been insulted by a check designed to buy a new cat myself outraged actually.
-
Watching the White House Corp Briefing with the Commander In Chief today, I wondered if the 1st Lady has evening gowns designed by world famous fashion designers does the President get designer suits & ties made for him too by famous clothing artists too? I'm just curious...Gotta look dashing as the Leader of the Free World right?
-
Okay, this is a pet peeve of mine. How come when you are watching a TV Program they break for a commercial, come back on the air, just to say they will be right back? What is the point of this exactly? It's both funny & incredibly irritating at the same time...The older I get, the more foolish TV seems to get. Strange IMO...

Yes Brent, that is extremely frustrating especially when you miss watching down & distance as a football fan. It's like watching a murder mystery on TV. They break to a commercial, come back, & then the end credits roll down the screen. Wait...What just happened man?! Huh? Who killed the billionaire in the study with crowbar?
-
"I was just thinking the same thing while watching a show the other day! It's pretty annoying to me." I know exactly what you mean ColtsSouljah...Sigh...It's like when your download speed on your computer slows down & says "buffering"...You are stuck in limbo & there's nothing you can do but wait, and wait, and wait...and wait.
-
I know that we all live in a Twitter & Facebook world, but certain items should not have to be "clicked" or "liked" on the Internet. Such as Frito Lay Potato chips, adult diapers, & diabetes testing strips. You have to draw the line somewhere IMO...

My friends are so funny & sharp just don't run with a scissor's and poke your eye out or fall okay. @100GFB: I was never good at coloring inside the lines & following all the rules. @Peytonator: People always told me I was full of it. Now, I get to prove it too. @Brent: Can I be Frito Bandito's deputy & right hand man too? Please.

How does Apple continue to create overzealous frenzy & demand for their technological products? Computers I get; iPhones not so much...The legend of Steve Jobs will never ever die. It's remarkable actually. I'm fascinated by it.

Since loyalty to my friends is paramount to me, I need to sent a shout out to 2 Forum Friends I haven't heard from in awhile Kayla D & Subvet...Drop me a line okay & tell me how things are going. Thank you

Is it just me? I really could care less about the successful landing of the NASA Rover on Mars. Until human being start living on other planets like Star Trek colonies, I am not enthralled at all personally...

"Southwest is going to be startled when he gets on tomorrow to find all these notifications." I was pleasantly surprised to see such an full fledged debate here AC17. Nice!!! Space exploration takes time & does have a few longterm benefits. However, cost/benefit wise NASA innovations seldom aids a person's daily life. Latest cutting edge technology=only the filthy rich can afford it.
