I remember watching "Little Bear" with my oldest nephew Josh when he was small. It was a good show & the artwork was clever & creative too.

my 14 year olds new team. It's unfortunate they would not let them play in the elite division, they made them play U16 2nd division because they are "too young". I think they should of let them play elite after seeing this first game. It wasn't as bad as the score sounds though, they actually had to work hard for the shut out, but their defense was lacking.

Very Impressive MCF!!! Your girls didn't just take their competition out behind the woodshed. They knocked the woodshed down too. Just Kidding!!! It sounds like a well earned and well fought victory indeed. Congratulations to their entire team!!!

  3. #98 just one sac away from 100 career!!!!!!!!! Looking forward to seeing it surpassed next week Robert!

so glad we don't start school prior to labor day...best law they ever put on the books here! @Brent, good job, I bet that was fun, as long as you didn't have to help with anyones hair! my girls spent the weekend picking outfits and worrying about their lockers not fitting all their sports stuff, hope they were able to cram it in there!

    3. BrentMc11

      BrentMc11

No hair duty for me...HA HA! She would have looked like Que! SW....I missed out on kids for way too long! I will not screw it up!! Unless of course I burn breakfast...:)

I wish it was later here as well....so the pools would stay open longer...:)

I always chuckle when I hear kids fret over their looks & outfits on the first day of school like a first date or prom dance occasion or something. Of well, I guess we were all young once too I suppose right? I'm sure your girls will be just fine MCF. They'll find a way to make all their books, pens, & personal momentos to fit in their school lockers I'm sure. :)

  5. 28 points wins the day.. considering both 49ers and Ravens won with 28, what is your guess for the SB score?

I'm with MCF & Brent on not being sold on the Falcons. Nothing against the players on that team or that city, but I have never believed that the "Dirty Birds" would fly all the way to the SB. Nice owner in Mr. Blank & a good QB in Ryan, but no I'm not buying into the Atlanta hype sorry.

Redwings fan here! diehard! @ColtsFTW the Indiana Ice USHL team is a good one to get behind, young but a pretty good record for their short history. Both sides meet today and I think the revisions and overall proposal by the NHL looks good. The NHLPA is likely to take it. I can't see many reasons to not take it. Play ON!!!!!!!!!

    4. BrentMc11

      BrentMc11

  12. another day of roller coaster emotions.. excited for the Grand Haven HS Girls basketball team competing today for the Class A MHSAA championship (under assistant coach Gary Hogeboom btw), praying for 5 Grand Haven teens and their families after a very terrible accident yesterday while on their way to the state semi final bball game, and celebrating St.Patricks day the best way possible at the Blarney Blast at my church, St. Patricks! thanks much for the prayers. The community is holding them up in our prayers. The driver and front passenger have been released from the hospital and will completely recover from their injuries. 2 are still serious and 1 we are all very concerned about, she has 3 skull fractures among other injuries and this is why the medical induced coma is needed, she is a friend of my niece and 3rd cousin to my brother in law. Prayers are appreciated.

@Brent, jealous of the black mustang, I admit it... @SW1, had drinks with the person responsible to submit the info to the paper (the team manager) and she had not done it, would not surprise me if it doesn't get done at this point, busy summer for all :( this will be a different season, new club with some high school players and a mixed age group, nervous and excited... pluss cross country

    4. BrentMc11

      BrentMc11

@MIColtsFan: I remember my first 'traveling' football team and I was really nervous. I was really young and it was intimidating. Funny, but in high school games, I liked playing on the road better than at home....

NFL Hall of Fame player Deion Sanders has a famous saying: "Fame & money make you more of what you are personality wise." If you're thrifty, hardworking, & humble to begin with, you will remain this way prior to a big "pay day." If you are seeking fame, influence, juice, & the prestige that a big "pay day" provides you, you are materialistic & greedy by nature. Money shows your true colors in athletes & celebrity driven journalists like Schefter...

    3. southwest1

      southwest1

Yes, you are correct Brent this compulsion & obsession with the 1st one to grab the 24 hour cycle headlines with sensationalistic crap that is seldom fact checked or independently verified is tragic, appalling, & disgusting in my humble opinion.

SW, I bet you'd enjoy hockey! @Brent, I can't believe the Star isn't talking about the Ice, with them doing so well and all... the Lumberjacks were terrible this year, bummer for local hockey fans. One of my fav Redwings, Justin Abdelkader started in the USHL then moved up to AHL then NHL.. good stuff in the junior and minor leagues.. if only I had more time to devote as a fan.

    3. MIColtsFan

      MIColtsFan

cut off.. SW is dangerous, but I think Brendan Shanahan, the VP for Player Safety does a fantastic job. I think his being a former player makes a big difference and the NFL would do well to model this. I like how Shany plays video's with his reports when he hands out the penalities..it's all very clear what is accepted and what is not..unfortunately some play like thugs and make deliberate and unneccesary hits that cause injury..see Raffi Torres's latest on Marion Hossa, it's...

    4. BrentMc11

      BrentMc11

Exactly MIColtsFan.....NHL is working on these hits....most fights are "sissy" fights IMO....unless the 2 Enforcers go at it!!! That is MMA!

I need to get the fence panel back up, it's just one little piece, but big enough for the skunk. I suspect my daughter knocked it down kicking her soccer ball at it!
