Yeah I didn't mean any comments that way. It's great that most women would never let it get to that point in the first place, let alone let it happen again

But it's reasonable to believe many women don't make such good choices. I can see his money and fame completely clouding her judgement. But she didn't deserve to be raped no matter what dumb things she may be guilty of

    I agree, buddy!

Yeah its a civil suit which anyone can do. We'll never know, only the 2 people involved would.

But with AB- well its not like lots of good things are on his side.

    Agree.

I am aware of that. In fact, most women I know have reported experiencing some form of sexual "abuse" (for lack of a better term). Whether it be someone inappropriately touching or fondling them all the way up to rape. Most do not report it.

In the post that you quoted, I did not ask why she had not reported it. I may not have either.  I wrote that if that had occurred to me, there is no way I would allow him into my home or be alone with him for fear that it would happen again. (I'm a woman.)

Yes.  This was my earlier comment as well.    Some took that as us "victim blaming".

It was just our stance on how we would react.

I like how people are so concerned with false accusations, but they have no problem throwing accusations around because the initial reports strike them as a little odd. Accusing a woman of lying about rape, if she was actually raped, is every bit as low as accusing someone of rape who isn't guilty of it. In a lot of ways, more, because you're attacking a true victim, someone who has been thru a traumatic event like a sexual assault.

I would encourage people to read the texts.

Right is right. Wrong is wrong. And if those texts are truly Antonio Brown, he should never have the privilege of playing in the NFL, ever again.

I admit, after reading more on this case, it certainly paints a picture of guilt on his part.

No one, I repeat, no one deserves to be raped, Ever.

I am wondering if more women will now come forward with accusations related to him. We've seen it happen time and time again.

There are plenty of recent examples of money, power and celebrity perverting justice.  Just look at the Epstein case.

People who have a hold over your career sometimes abuse that power.  Look at the Weinstein case.

And yet, every time we have an NFL player accused like this, people question the woman.

I don't know any men who would do this and I don't know any women who would falsely accuse a man of this just for money.  False reporting is a crime.......but even that is subject to money and power. Look at the Smollet case.

And men who pay for trafficked women get away with it because their privacy was violated.

It's all very depressing and discouraging.

The time and reason and the way she filed charges are all credible to me.  I don't know if it's true and he's innocent until proven guilty. I doubt she prevails just based on how these things typically go.

I am so weary of women being abused. Nothing changes

You make a lot of good points.

The problem with alot of these  she said/he said cases, unless there are credible eye witnesses, it's just that.....she said/he said.

My point is, just because someone makes an accusation, does not mean it's true.

And just because he denies it, does not make him innocent.

    Sometimes the details are suspect.

I don't exactly know, but maybe statue of limitations comes into play here. It was in college, so that's a long time ago

The alleged incidents were from 2017 and 2018.

I don't have any compelling reason to believe her.  I don't subscribe to the notion that I need to believe the accuser, or any accuser, because of "what it might say"  about all other future rape accusations by anybody.

The proper avenue is to accuse AB in front of the police.  That's what makes it an accusation.

If she is only making the statement on twitter, and never told the police,  she is basically making a statement to everyone on the planet that doesn't matter.  Doing so does not require me to think of the statement as a legitimate accusation.

Statements communicated in this manner actually begin to make AB look like a sympathetic figure.

    Agree.

To accuse someone on twitter...then ask for people to respect her privacy..

Criminal case will be hard to prove. He said/she said case with zero physical evidence that we know of. Unless there is text or email between the two discussing it, the burden of proof is gonna be hard to prove.

Civil court has a much lower threshold as in civil court, reasonable suspicion is enough to warrant awarding on behalf of the plaintiff

Yes. I know all this, I have several attorneys, and a magistrate in the family.   I know how the law works.

Let me say, I'm sorry if I offended anyone with my initial response.

I was in no way defending AB.  Do I think he Is capable of this behavior? Absolutely.

And I didn't mean to come across as victim blaming. That was wrong.   I, too, have a family member who was victim of a violent rapist years ago.   I understand the  affects of this horrendous act.

Just thinking out loud, and giving a benefit of doubt to both sides.  Only the 2 of them know what really transpired.

I do still stand by my comment that if someone assaulted me, I certainly would do everything in my power to not be alone with this person ever again, and certainly would not return to his home. :dunno:

Gramz - maybe if you read her story you would see where he went back to her and apologized and begged for her to be his trainer again.  Then he supposedly did it again from what she says.  It's all over TMZ and the Daily Mail.  True, she maybe should have not agreed to train him again if that really did happen.

I did read it. I'm saying if it was me, I wouldn't put myself in that position again.

I'm also not saying he's innocent.

But when someone asks for $$$$$, you have to wonder,..No?

I believe this is a civil suit, which is all about $$$$.  Why no arrest, or criminal charges?

Ah, there it is. I was wondering how long it would take for this opinion to appear. Stop victim blaming. This is why women don't come out.

I bet people still will want to sign him.

    Well, it's a legitimate question.

I'm not saying he didn't assault her.  We don't know.

I do know,  if I was sexually assaulted by someone, I would not allow myself to be in a position to allow this person near enough to me ever again.

  11. I was just reading about this on a newswire.

    Hard to say.......

Sometimes I think some of these women are looking for an easy payday...  one might ask if she was raped a first time, why put yourself in the position a 2nd, and 3rd time?

It was downright amazing and pitiful that the Saints let Watson go down the field to score a TD in 14 seconds with 2 plays. Equally amazing and pitiful that the Texans let Brees go down the field to set up for a FG.

    Yep! So true.

We had a GREAT game against a team no one gave us a chance in. I’m not upset. It sucks to lose the first one, but they showed us that they have hella fight in them.

Yep! Watson is the real deal.  Its was an exciting ending. You should feel good about your team this year!.
