  1. Are they ready to give up on Willis already? Could be, they seem to be in rebuild mode too. But they have a lot of holes to fill and have a starter and possible replacement already. Never know though.
  2. In another thread I was trying to figure out who would jump ahead. It doesn't seem to me that any team is that QB desperate. Falcons, Washington, TB, Raiders - all seem to have either young QBs already. But you never know abut the Raiders, even though they have Jimmy G. Lions and Seahawks are also long shots. If Ballard wants to trade with AZ (assuming they're not getting any other offers), it shouldn't take much. Maybe one of our 5ths?
  3. Great video. Goes to show that there's a fine line between being a franchise QB and being a bust, even for a first round pick. If Levis or AR get in a system that's built for them, like Allen did, they too could possibly develop into franchise guys. But there's probably about the same chance that they won't. Glad I'm not Ballard.
  4. Wow, I can hardly keep up with all of these Colts FA signings! Do you think Ballard is sitting back laughing or just took the day off?
  5. Geez, I already have to wake up Green Day on September 30th. Now you too?
  6. Young is probably a bit better, but Stroud has the size. Put Young behind a bad line and he may not last the season. I'm a Buckeye, but I think OSU would have won almost as many games with the backup. (Not saying Stroud isn't great, he is). Without Young, Bama may not have won 7 games. They did not have the receivers and the Oline was average. They had a great RB, but Young made that team win. Still, I'd take Stroud simply based on their physical stature.
  7. That's the best case scenario, IMHO. To be fair, Levis was hurt a lot last year. I think he's further along than Richardson, but supposedly Richardson has a higher ceiling. No brainer. Stroud by a mile. (I know how much you like Ohio State players, so you'd be happy! LOL!)
  8. They have #9, two 2's, a 3 and a couple 4's. And their new owner is willing to make moves. If they get 1 then Stroud and Young are gone. I'm not crazy about Levis or Richardson, but I'd take the latter.
  9. Respectfully disagree - unless our of "franchise QB" is different. I think both Stroud and Young can be very good starters in the NFL. If you mean there's no Luck, Rodgers, or even Lawrence, then I agree with you. But you can't wait around for the stars to align again. You have to go after one of those top 2 and hope you made the Manning choice and not the Leaf choice.
  10. Probably a swap, our 2 and a 4 would do it normally. But maybe not this year. Even if the Colts are in love with Levis, we need to move to at least 3. But I won’t mind giving up those picks and even a player to the Bears. They will get other offers.
  11. That’s a lot of work, and a lot to study. Good post. Hope you remember to bump it when the season ends.
  12. I didn't like the shirt Ballard wore on the Saturday of the draft. (There weren't many Ballard complaints lately. I'd hate to see this thread die out.)
  13. Definitely missed the boat at TE. I don't think there are any FA's besides Gronk who could help the team. I was hoping for OJ Howard, who was signed pretty cheaply. Tons of potential. I can't see Ballard bringing in OBJ. MVS would be my choice. Then again, I can't see Ballard signing any FA, lol.
  14. Continuing with the joke, I’m imagining Ballard going over the list of top Free Angents: Too expensive… Too old… Not good for the locker room… Arms not long enough…
  15. I'll add to the thread. IMO, I think we have the best QB in the division, and the best defense. Yes, still a couple spots that need shorn up. LT in particular. Even if Pryor is the answer, there's no depth. There's more Free Agents out there that could be added, and the draft will help. I keep going back to how on Christmas Eve last year we were the team that "nobody wants to face in the playoffs". A team that plays solid defense and could run the ball down their throats. We still basically have that team, with an improvement at the most important position. (How's that for being positive?)
  16. They must like what they see in Rodgers and Tell, and figure that Facyson will add depth. Rhodes dropped off last season, maybe due to injury and age. He probably won't be back. You have to admit, the CB talent now is still better than the edge rusher talent (before the trade). Yes, it's tough losing Rock. Not only a guy who was coming on, but a great person and teammate. But I'd still take a proven edge rusher over a CB any day.
  17. That's true, but it's job to field the best team possible (with all things considered). Carson was a gamble that, if it paid off, would have given us a franchise QB for years to come. We know Frank vouched for him and thought he could 'fix' his issues. A lot has been written about how he wasn't a leader, a good fit in the locker room, etc., but until that comes out of the players mouths it's all second hand gossip. What you have to admit is that Ballard made the best of that whiff, he essentially traded Ryan for Carson without losing a draft pick and got him at a better salary. As far as Rock, yes he was starting to come on. But I'll take a proven edge rusher over a proven CB every time.
  18. Good analogy. Then we end up with a sensible car that will get you where you want to go, about the same as about half of the other cars. While the guys in the expensive cars are whizzing on by you to the SB. I don't expect him to change his spots. I do expect him to fill glaring holes with pieces that improve the team. That could still happen. There are serviceable players out there. One he fills in that QB spot, LT better be a priority.
  19. Not arguing with you about how well the FO is working until we know they’re done. But Bowen said that the teams that spent the most on free agents improved by an average of three wins. That’s a division title in our case. The future is this season. The cap goes up every year and manipulating it isn’t that difficult.
  20. Better yet, any chance the Colts get ONE of the top 100 Free Agents? I guess Ballard figures no one on that list would come into the building with all their chips.
  21. Ballard is definitely not changing his stripes yet. He waits for the prime suspects to be swooped up and then sifts through the remains. So far, not one of the top 100 Free Agents on the CBS Sports list have been signed by the Colts. 16 of the top 20 are gone. Someone reported that the teams that spent the most in Free Agency improved by 3 wins. That's the difference between sitting home in January and winning the division. I can understand that until we get the QB situation straightened out, everything else is secondary. But we have glaring holes that could be addressed. (I know we're all said this a million times. But I think it was my turn to vent.)
  22. Once that QB is picked, if Ballard doesn't get a GOOD LT, TE, and WR, I think we all need to tweet Irsay = "All Chips In????"
