That's terrible but I'm glad it was not worse.

People really need to be careful.  It's not hard to avoid a stationary jet ski

My bet is there is either

    a) more to the story and that's coming out for contract reasons

    b) the person who hit Hines didn't realize you need to throttle to turn a jetski. Most people treat it like a car and soon as panic comes in, they let off the gas but jetski isn't going to turn without a little throttle.

  2. I need to see them in game action before having a final opinion. I appreciate that they are trying something new and I think there are some really nice aspects of the new alternates.

I really enjoy the white stripes on the pants and up the shoulder blades and the shade of blue they are using. Not a fan of everyone wearing the "C" patch on their chest.

I love the concept of the black helmet as well. I do wish it was matte black and didn't have the colors through the middle. The base of the back of the helmet with "Colts" is pretty sweet but I think the front "Colts" is too much.

Insert obligatory meme of that "are you sure about that?" dude.

I mean, Irsay doesn't control when the guy's birthday falls...

I know he sometimes plays games with his tweets, but I don't think that's what's going on here. JMO

Yes, I know he doesn't control Vick's birthday lol but the emphasis he put on it just make me feel he's saying, "The Colts still value the RB position".

our offense completely let down our defense.

That defense last year was sneaky good. 44 sacks is nothing to scoff at. And we had Zaire break the season tackle record for Colts. Also had a rookie FS 7th rounder who played well above expectations.

People say Yannick sacks don't count for much but when you go and watch most of them actually were critical points.

Gilmore really only had one lowlight the whole season. And that's when Terry snapped his route upfield and jumpballed him and won. Other than that he was essentially a lockdown corner all year.

EJ Speed graded very well in his limited snaps, and Okereke got a huge contract. Kenny was kept.

Dayo and Kwity actually are showing development. We all want more success, but how bad is it really/

Sneaky good is a good way to put it. In many threads I've sang the praises about our defense last year. In the modern NFL, they were exactly what we needed them to be to be put into a position to win games. That's in spite of our offense being so deficient. If our offense was even just a bit more capable, they would have looked even better.

I don't think we will win a ton this year (middle of the pack), but I am excited because I think there will be games where we will see competent play on all sides of the ball and be reminded...oh this is what good/sound football looks like.

The market has spoken. Now if Ballard were to sign Taylor to a deal, it would go against what the rest of the NFL is doing. I stated that it would be a mistake to give another deal to Tayor, and apparently, the Raiders and Giants agree. If Ballard extends Taylor's contract, I will be so done with him as a GM and this  is from someone who said I would give him a 2nd chance now that he has his qb.

Both the Raiders and Giants attempted to resign Jacobs and Barkly. For less than they wanted but you make it sound like the market is dictating no contracts to RBs. It's a bit different IMO.

All reports are the deals were approximately ~10-12 million per year with ~20-22 million GTD. If Ballard and Taylor can get a deal signed in the 11-13.5 million range APY for 3 years, 19-25m GTD I think that would be fair with what the market is dictating and would put him in line with backs like Henry and Chubb. on APY.

Taylor is younger than Jacobs and Barkley and a key playmaker on this team. I think he deserves a better deal than them and the Colts are equipped to afford it with the team being this young.

I doubt we will see anymore 16 million APY that Christan Mcaffrey got in 2020 and I do not think we should go that high, but the team needs to be fair.

  6. No contracts for both Jacobs and Barkley and if they want to play this year, they will have to play on the franchise tag. Neither of them has signed it. My guess is they will sit out most of pre-season and play the year out on the tag.

I'm curious if the Colts and JT get a deal signed now that there really isn't anyone else to change or reinforce the market. I imagine them not getting deals could help the Colts leverage.

I really hope we don't get to the point of tagging JT and forcing him to decide to sit out or not as leverage though.

  7. It is what it is. No sense getting too worried over a situation we have limited information on and have absolutely no control over. Would love to see Shaq get back to form. Regardless if it's this season or next.

If last year showed anything, defense was the least of this teams problems. Our LBs were actually one of our bright spots. We lost Bobby Okereke but both Speed and Franklin played very well too.

How about this for a prediction…

the Eagles finish with a worse record than the Colts

I like this. I don’t think it’ll happen but everyone expects them to continue being great. Their defense IMO will be but I think we will see a regression on Offense for them. People forget the rough start they had in 2021 until Shane took over play calling. Then obviously they did well in 22. Let’s see who calls the plays in 23.

I’m not sold on them winning their division.

Regarding the Saturday viewpoint, you’re not the first person to make this observation, you’re just the latest.   And coming in a thread about Raimann, I think it’s appropriate to respond to it.

I’m going to respectfully disagree with the idea that Saturday coached up Raimann.   Saturday was never an OL coach, or even an assistant OL coach.   So I don’t see him coaching up individual players.   The area where I do give Saturday a lot of OL credit is making the unit of 5 play like 1.   That was a disaster last year.  And I think it clearly got better once Saturday arrived.  I think that kind of Big Picture approach is much more in line with what Saturday could bring.   I just don’t see him working one on one with individual players.  I think that was Strausser.    Put another way,  I think if Reich had not been fired I still believe Raimann was going to improve.   Comments made about Raimann when he was drafted in April support that.  A very fast learner.

I hope Freeland has a similar season.  I hope he too gets better as the season progresses.   The Colts are going to need it.

That’s fair. I agree, Raimann would’ve improved either way. I just think the timing of Saturdays arrival and his significant jump in play isn't coincidental. I’m ok to throw Jeff some credit for that.

I can certainly understand your viewpoint and would actually agree with it if it was any other situation of a new or interim head coach coming in. Alas, it was a very unique situation with someone who had no coaching experience which makes me believe when Saturday came in, he stuck to the lanes he felt most comfortable and where he could add the most value.

Just reading the article below gives the impression he was involved with the players and unit more than others.

At the end of the day, all that matters is if he continues to show that improvement and that our new coaches help push these players. I have hope for him!

To be clear….    His poor play lasted 11 games.    With our late bye week, his very good play lasted 6 games.

    Pretty impressive.

When he was drafted, the Colts scouts said one of BRs best qualities was that he learns fast.    I think his stats back that up.

Now, he has to build in that from here.

I'm excited to see how he plays this year. I think he will have a nice 2nd year jump.

His better play last year lines right up with Saturday coming in too. I imagine he was able to coach him up at least a little. So hopefully this year our coaching is good.

  11. Lots of great discussion in here.

I think one thing that should be stressed is that even if we overpay JT based on comparables, I don't really think it will make an overall impact to the cap decisions this team wants to make...Don't we have upwards of something like 23 million this year? I know we haven't signed all of our players just yet, but this team is YOUNG.

If you're counting on AR being your QB the next 5 years, you can easily afford a FAIR contract for one of the best RBs in the league plus basically everything else you want to get. That's the best part about a rookie QB. Our cap will be easy for the next 4 years.

4k is only $4.99 a month for next 12 months right now, then goes up to $9.99 after that. Went ahead and popped that extra $5 on there.

Not sure if it matters but I don't think the Sunday Ticket streams are in 4K. I bought the standalone Sunday Ticket package for the season to see how it goes but I was reading, and it doesn't sound like they will offer the games in 4K, which is unfortunate. Curious to see how it will look.

    thought this was pretty cool.

Has some other guys other than Anthony Richardson.

I thought it was a very well-done AD that delivers some wholesomeness and promotes the brand in a positive way.

I joked with some friends that I thought it was funny that AR got the message from Brady and Hendon got the message from Peyton. Brady's more involved with our new Colts then Peyton has been LOL. On a serious note, I know Brady is one of ARs favorite players and someone he has openly admired, so this is definitely not a knock on Peyton <3.

Seems local media is going down the tubes. No more keefer and holder didn’t tweet anything from today.  Hopefully it gets better for TC.

Keefer was promoted, I think James Boyd is covering everything for Athletic now Colts related.

still doesn’t excuse colts from posting stuff.

I think Colts social teams usually post their stories/clips at the end of the day. They take them throughout and then you'll probably see a dump of them at some point. This is what happened last week at least.

Not sure if their social teams are onsite everyday or are there days different than media.

I wonder if AR is the type of qb that can unlock playmaking ability in his supporting cast. Maybe we’ll see an even better Pittman……Pierce…..Cox even? Can AR make his teammates better like Peyton used to do back in the day?

I think this can definitely be the case, just in a different way then Peyton did it.

Peyton knew everyone’s role as good or better than they did. He held the team to an expectation and forced them into spots/windows. Very cerebral and knew what he wanted.

AR, at least initially I think will help the team take advantage of off script and creativity. Allowing players to work zones and run routes that we haven’t seen since Luck. We have so many tall receivers that I think they honestly have a chance to shine with ARs strong arm. This young team will feed off the flashiness of some of the stuff we’re about to see this season. I expect an energy to this team we haven’t seen in awhile.
