  1. This presser will be interesting. Does Taylor show excitement, remorse? Does he give off any vibes of being completed jaded and still at arms with the organization?

Does he suddenly retire from the NFL?

In a way, I do feel bad for him. I really do think he received bad advice, was influenced too much by outsiders and his read of the room/timing wasn't great.

Before all the nonsense became public, I was pretty vocal that us paying him ~12 million a year was fair as we have a young team on rookie deals and paying him wouldn't be impactful to the cap. Once everything else got out, I was completely ok with the Colts letting him go.

  2. I don't disagree with most of the posts here but I think we are being just a little too impatient. He needs and deserves at least half a season to see if he can regain some of the trust/speed/strength. Regardless of scheme.

Let's give him more time and put some faith into the coaches to properly evaluate if he's improving or not.

I agree with a lot of the comments on thats video. His words say one thing but he just doesn’t seem to be in a positive mindset in that video. His body language screams uncertainty and doubt.

I hope it’s just exhaustion and the redundancy of all the questions about his health/play. He seemed much more enthaustic earlier in camp interviews.

Is it just me or is it since the Colts called out New England for deflating footballs that the sports media been extra harsh on Colts management and ownership.

I honestly think it’s because Irsay is an easy target for them and the lack of team success over the last several years is an indicator to them that we are poorly run. I don’t think it’s true, there are plenty of well run teams that aren’t necessarily good year in and out. Look at the Steelers, it takes time to get the right players in place and isn’t easy.

I also think it’s just the timing of the season. These media guys are all sensationalized and they have nothing else to talk about that helps them keep their jobs so they have to push what they can. What better way to stir up discussion and clicks.

  5. Media will be media. They can side with the player and bad mouth the Colts all they want in this instance but honestly the Colts have done nothing wrong.

    • They’ve asked the player who wants a new contract to play out his current contract. Not just JT mind you, but MPJ also. Who else that was here last year is also in a contract year? The team didn’t even rule out a mid year extension. We won 4 games last year. No one deserves bonuses and extensions. What kind of business rewards average or below average performance?
      • THIS IS ALSO AFTER THE PLAYER WAS VERY PUBLIC ABOUT PLAYING OUT HIS CONTRACT ONLY A HANDFUL OF MONTHS PRIOR
      • Haven’t we recently done this exact thing to Kenny Moore? He wanted an extension and we basically told him play it out? I know he’s already had one extension but I’m pretty sure this was last season.
    • They granted a players request to seek a trade and listened to all offers. It’s completely in their right to not take a trade based on compensation. The organization knows the caliber of player JT is, why should they be forced to sell low? They took the chance to draft him, pay him, and help develop him.
    • They didn’t lie to him about taking the franchise tag off the table. It is 1000% a tool for organizations. Ballard made a strong point yesterday, it’s a tool, but how often has the team actually used it? RARE.
    • The team isn’t pressuring Taylor about the truthfulness to the injury or at least not publicly. It’s pretty clear the player is lying or embellishing. The dude is seeking a trade, in order for a trade to be successful he’d have to pass a physical.
      • If the speculation of him not trusting the colts to pay him is true and then to do this is somewhat hypocritical, no? If he would have held out, my respect for him wouldn’t have changed. It’s how he’s doing this that is very bothersome.

I do think things are generally repairable but I’m not sure how they get there.

I did notice when he was talking up the TE room he never mentioned Mo. I’m still hoping someone would be desperate enough to offer us a 7th round pick for him.

Very true, but I think he only mentioned Ogletree and Mallory so I'm not sure it means much for Mo. The response was part of the overall lack of WR question so maybe he mentioned those specifically because they can be seen as more receiving TEs.

I am super pumped for Drew Ogletree. I think he's going to be really freaking good over the middle with AR.

Clear back in the spring I said don’t expect many free agent signings ect because Steichen has not seen these guys play. He has to evaluate this roster before anything big will happen.

JMV is a *. He just took this quote as Ballard blaming jt for the 4 wins lol.

Which is ridiculous. I took it as NO ONE is getting paid right now. Off a 4 win season, everything must be evaluated. Which is true...look at MPJ, he didn't get an extension either.

  8. Overall a good press conference. Media asked some good questions. JT questions got a bit repetitive as the media tried extracting answers in different ways and some of their questions are just downright terrible.

When asked about the WR situation, Ballard mentioned roster mechanics. I bet that means McKenzie will be back.

Seems he has a ton of hope for the TE group that we have, which makes sense. AR is going to like them big bodies IMO. TE's usually are a rookie's best friend. Big Granson season incoming I think.

He spoke glowingly of Jaylon Jones (our 7th round pick) and is really happy on the progress of Nick Cross.

Thinks we are young but doesn't see it as a detriment overall. "How do VETS become VETS? Kids got to play". I like that philosophy. Let's take the growing pains now in a year with a rookie QB.

My only other comment would be is that I think it's pretty clear JT's ankle really isn't hurt. This is a hold-in as much as Ballard attempted to defend him. It's a shame. I've actually lost respect for Taylor regarding this the most. I wish he just pulled a Chris Jones and held out, I think it would've been better for everyone.

  9. Was there for the full first half couple rows back at the Colts 50 yard line. Some observations:

AR is a big guy. Was either locked into the game or on the tablet looking at film with Gardner, coaches and several times with Pierce. If Pierce can get his dropsies under control, I think he’s gonna be a favorite target of AR.

ARs pocket awareness can be special. He has a a really good natural feel for the pocket and moves well in it.

Stuard at LB has looked so fast, even faster in person. Flies to The ball. I hope he makes it.

Winfree is a big dude and seems he’s got some dawg in him. I hope we see him stick around in the 53 or the PS.

The Eagles will be hunted all year, so keep their head on a swivel. There is no more surprises regarding Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown. The best of luck this year.

I honestly think their team is going to take a step back this year. Now by no means are they going to suck but I don't see them being as dominant.

I've said it a few times on this forum but they lost both coordinators and their team was not good when Shane wasn't calling plays. They started incredibly poor 2 years ago and Sirianni had to turn the play calling over to Shane. I don't think Sirianni is going to be calling plays this year but still think there will be an overall regression.

IMO, I think the Giants win the division. That is my HOT take.
