Manning  was a pro at fades and back should throws

Miss those times, was such a staple. Maybe Gardner can’t get the arc in practice but if that’s the case we just need quicker outs. Too often he holds the ball when in tight which creates the sacks/turnovers. We haven’t really had JT either which is certainly a component of red zone.

One thing I really appreciated about Peyton was his concept of self-preservation. Would throw it away or go down himself. Sometimes it was frustrating but honestly I think it attributed to the length/health of his career. Live to fight another play.

  2. Definitely concerning, I was furious last game that we didn’t score in the RZ until the final drive. I think we were like 1/5.

Need to call more fades and back shoulders IMO. Quick throws, get it out.

Gardner has good touch and we have big athletic WRs. We also need to block better.

  3. Back from one of Ballards press conferences.

"Anthony Coughlan fought like a dog for us to take [him]," Ballard said. "I'm not going to sit here and lie to you, I had my doubts, but Anthony pressed and pressed and we took him. And Anthony was right."

Now a believer after seeing what he could do on both defense and special teams throughout training camp and the preseason, Ballard finds himself a fan of Jones too.

"This kid is going to be good, like really freaking good," Ballard said.

  4. The complexity here. He finished the game, so its not necessarily unrealistic to think he could continue to play.

However, things are never that simple. We can’t disregard one of his major gripes was him feeling pressure to play through injury last year. Will he feel the same this year? He got paid but will the Colts hold back on having him play?

Do we think there is any influence here by the release of Shaq and their shared agent?

Obviously we don’t know the significance of the injury but I’m curious if those other factors will play heavily into the decision on whether or not he stays on the field.

I’d hope he can get back out there, dude was really looking like his old self and showing why he got the money he did.

I don’t think anyone is going to care about this.

I think those in the Indy market or Colts fans won’t care too much. You can bet that it’ll be picked up by some national outlets and they’ll take some heat no doubt. How much heat? We will see.

I’m going to bet we will see a follow-up from Irsay or the Colts to add any face saving clarifications.

  6. Oof. Not great. Irsay really does himself no favors throughout any of this. It highlights his addiction struggles and his eccentric hobbies.

He’s transparent about his past but refuted one of his most public incidents. Also, dropped a terrible quote that he experiences prejudice because he’s a white billionaire. Came off not great.

Of course Bryant Gumble made some rude comments after the fact. Dude didn’t even know what Irsay’s reputation is with players and around the league. That part was disappointing.

Not a great look overall though.

I know he has his struggles and I can understand if he meant something more along the lines of him being a public figure and rich so it’s easy to paint a target on him for everything kinda thing but it just didn’t come off well at all and felt out of touch.

I’d say how those around him allow him to do this is beyond me but I know better and Irsay just does wth he wants. One of the things I like about him for better or worse.

They are proud of it and revel in it!

We sure are :). I may be a Colts fan but I live in South NJ and Philly sports are ELECTRIC. We are a passionate fan base across all sports and you gotta take the good with the bad. Every fan base has their bad eggs no doubt but Philly fans do own up to their reputation. Not always the best decision makers that’s for sure.

I go to games all the time and I’ve learned over the years. I will say though, playoff anything here is incredible.

I love my Colts but there is more energy in Philly’s MLS or Hockey stadium than there is at Lucas Oil.

I’m really hoping that changes with some of the younger guys on this team. I hear the stadium this year has been better. Was supposed to be out there for jags game but had 3 straight flight cancellations ended up ruining the trip.

  8. I’m really liking Shane so far. I think the players like playing for him and he’s shown his creativity and offensive mind in many of our games. It’s no surprise he’s had success at many different organizations.

I think he will mature into a really solid long term head coach for us.

Don’t forget, this team has only been limited under 20 points in a single game this season. With rotating QBs that in itself is impressive.

I think our coaching staff in general has a pretty bright future. Hope things keep trending in the right direction.

  9. His drafting has been fine, above average. It's the QB position that has plagued him and this team. Look at the years with Ballard and a competent QB. Playoffs with Luck & Rivers in spite of Frank Reich.

If we had better QBs during Ballards tenure (his own fault), I don't think people would question the other talent on this team as much.

I would still take him and his staff over the majority of other team front offices. His clock has been reset with Richardson, interested to see how this team looks over the next 2-4 years.

  10. We will get the standard

Besides the refs being terrible.. why in the world did we call timeout and not save our timeouts? Terrible decisions to call timeouts. We would have been able to throw it multiplie times better play calls if we saved them

We were leading at that point. Wanted to get into the correct formation and prevent the TD vs a back-up QB rather than needing to kick a long FG. Gamble didn't pay off unfortunately.

It sucks it really does. However, I think surgery is the right move and better for the long run. I said it on another post but I think the reason they’ll elect for surgery is to make sure this issue is fixed and rehabbed correctly. I’m convinced part of why this happened is because the last time he hurt his shoulder it didn’t heal right.

Schefty even said on Pats show today something along these lines.

Like Holder was saying to today there ptobsbly won’t be a time table. When he is healed he is healed. Unless he has surgery there won’t be a time table. If he goes on IR we will know it’s at least 4 games.

That’s really all I want to know. Is he going to have surgery and is he going on to IR. I’m ok if they don’t really have a full timeline.

  13. If there is a silver lining in any of this, it’s that maybe this is also a result of poor/limited rehab of the previous injury on this shoulder. His prior injury history might suggest that maybe he wasn’t on the most optimal treatment/rehab plan.

Now with quite literally access to the top medical and rehab services that come with the NFL there is a chance this could help his shoulder get even stronger for the long run.

I don’t like shoulder injuries by any means…but there is no doubt that he will have access to medical professionals like never before.
