  1. Back in the day, a 'friend' of mine went into a local Indy bar in a Packer jersey. This just happened to be where about 15 Colts players hung out with fans and had fun.

He went up to former Colt Linebacker and said he thought he was a great player, and he was proud that he played for 'his' Packers. The initials of said LB were BK. He picked the guy up over his head and placed him comfortably on the ground outside the bar.

I for one love watching the Steelers play. I have never been a fan, but love their play. I think this fan was "Lucky" to get a jersey.....back in the day, players like BK would have picked him up and set him outside the friendly confines of the Anderson complex. These are facts :)

  2. I have to agree with you 100% Ken! I have never seen a QB that reminded me as much of number 18.

I hope that under the tutelage of Bruce Arians and to some extent Tom Moore we will see flashes early and often.

I will always miss the mastery of the line of scrimmage that Peyton had/has, but I guess we can see some Bronco games and hope he remains healthy!!

  3. Not sure how I missed your two blogs Ken!! I really like the point that you make that there are no right answers because everyone has their favorites.

I am glad that you still put Johnny U where I feel he belongs. He too played with a linebacker mentality and played injured sooooo many times.

I also like your emphasis on winning. With that in mind, I think we sometimes forget how big of a winner Bob Griese was and those undefeated Dolphins. Troy Aikman was a winner too.

    Thank you for the post.

  4. ColtsPride11: Knowing myself, I would love the challenge of the scary ghost. My right hook would not land....but go through 'said ghost.' and said old mean guy Brent would fall down and look silly....even to the chipmunks. BTW...chipmunks also sing great Christmas songs!!!

I love rafting trips....I really hope we can do the New River in WV! I am up for it. Also still watch my squirrels out here....I am in 'acorn heaven.' They can be as tame as chipmunks....I have to keep my avatar away though. :)

  5. It seems as though my good friend CP11 had what is called a "once in a lifetime" vacation....a well deserved vacation!! I envisioned myself all the way through Kansas and on the Arkansas River.

I am a huge whitewater rafting fan. I bet you were a little let down that the river was down, but it sounded like a fantastic time.

I would have loved to see the ghost town. It would be my luck it would not have been Casper, but some mean old ghost. HA HA!

Looking for some pictures of your Rocky Mountain high vacation!! Super blog!!!

  6. Back when we were still on ColtsDirect, I was really having a bad feeling about Luck and what I perceived as an attitude especially when being asked about his willingness to back up HOF QB Peyton Manning.

I even went so far as to say "send Luck to the Browns" and see how he likes the 20 below wind chills off of Lake Erie.

I feel now I was totally wrong, and we have the best young QB since our beloved number 18. Good Luck Andrew, and I totally agree SOMDCfan.

  7. I cannot say I disagree with anything here.

At QB, I feel Harnish at least is on the practice squad readying him for a possible Stanton departure at year's end and as insurance for injury.

At RB, I am really wondering if Brown or Carter may be on the block for a CB. We just picked up Mewelde Moore as a nice 3rd down addition, and we added Deji Karim as well as draft pick Vick Ballard who I feel is gonna bruise some folks.....something is up here. Stay tuned LOL.

Good points on Fleener and Allen...I pick Smith too for his blocking. Since we may see 3 TE sets, my thoughts are Jones makes the team a as a 4th and we have yet another on the practice squad for injury backup. Love to speculate...thanks Colts7!!!

  8. Good analysis!

Avery is getting a 'new lease on life.' Collie will benefit from Fleener and Allen. Reggie is....well...Reggie!! Iterested in what Hilton and/or Brazil can bring to the table in the receiving/return game.

OL is better than last year IMO. Other than the leadership of Saturday we are bigger and stronger. McGlynn can be that back-up at center if needed. I would like to see Shipley get his chance...like Saturday did at one point. He was a BEAST at Penn State.

At guard possibilities are the Monster Anderson from Georgia as well as former Eagle Jason Foster. Grigson loves 'his guys.'

Linkenbach gets a ton of heat for some of his 'follies' from last year, but has experience now and is a valuable back-up. As usual nice job Ken!!!

  9. Ken, I think one key to who remains in the LB corps etc. is with Pagano you must be willing and able to play specials teams. This may be why a Harvey beats out a Galippo or even Justin Hickman over a Fugger.

I totally agree as you probably remember that this is a big chance for Jerry Hughes!!!

Lastly, I am anxious to see if some of the UFAs can make the DL. It is going to be interesting.

  10. Amazing how many cuts have to be made before the start of the season. As Pagano said, it may come down to who excels on special teams. Being a special teams freak myself, I simply love this philosophy. You did a great job my friend, and your pics were of professional quality. Thank you!!!

  11. As much as I hate to say it, I agree the Bengals did well! I wish I would have seen you were blogging....good analysis as always.

I like the Allen pick for the Colts if we truly are going to use some 3 TE sets. Good job Ken!!

  12. Did U know Brent, that Larry Csonka has Hungarian roots, however he was born in the States?

I did not know that...some good info. Thank you. Sorry I was a late arrival to your blog.

Also I was wrong on Nat Moore...he was after this team. Howard Twilley was the wide receiver with Warfield. Bob Mandich and Marv Fleming were tight ends.

  13. Chemistry comes down to personalities meshing, coaches meshing, and an "all in" mind set.

Coach Pagano has stressed a family atmosphere, this too is key!!

As to the Dolphins I loved to watch Griese, Csonka, Jim Kickk and Mercury Morris on the ground and Nat Moore and Paul Warfield on the outside. That was an offense that could hurt you in sooooo may ways.

  14. I am not great at looking ahead a year. I am better at what is immediately at hand. However, this is a well written piece so I need to give my new friend a thumbs up!!

At WR I would love a Mike Wallace or a Dwayne Bowe....and I know we will have the money to go get them barring unforseen injuries.

    I like Tracy Porter.....I like Jake Long....and as I said I am a huge Te'o fan.

That said I am interested in seeing the unknowns on our own roster and watching our new coaching staff make the Colts the surprising team in the league. Chuck Pagano had a great interview today on ESPN. He once again said everyone has "rolled up their sleeves" from top to bottom. The future is now, and I think we are more talented than some think. Let roll Colts!!!

  15. Nice first blog young man It looks like you aretaking your Sports Management objective to good use.

I want to see our young tackles Castonzo and Ijalana get a full training camp and see what we really have now. Reitz too is a young guard who will benefit from a full camp. You cannot lose, however with Bama's big duo!!

I am a huge Te'o fan....fast and big....would love him in the horseshoe!!

Lastly, we have cap space next year to bring in 1 or 2 'game changers.' 2012 will be interesting, and so will the future!!
