  1. I think it all comes down to your next to last sentence Colts7.

"Where the team is..............is a work in progress- alot of things have to go right, to get a victory and the margin of error , is very small"

I feel that if we could get some of the M.A.S.H unit healthy we could see more consistency where it really matters.....OL and DL.

I am with you on the backs...love Ballard, and really loved the heart Carter played with.

To win a game 17-13 in the NFL with the names Guy, Geathers, and Dixon playing key roles on the front is amazing. This team does not quit....and as you say is avg....in many phases of the game. This same team could be 4-2 heading into Tennessee....loving the effort. Loving the effort for Coach Pagano too from players, fans and management as well.

I look forward to good news in week 7 and another Colts7 blog!! :)

  2. Luck is not ACCURATE. Without Reggie making Luck look better, this is an 0-5 team.

    RG3 is accurate.

Make no mistake RG3 has been solid in his play, but is not solid of build.....1 concussion already. That was my primary concern with him at Baylor, and the main concern at this level. How many will he/can he take?

NFL defenses want to put you on the sideline. I was glad to see RG3 back and at it this past week.....I will stick by number 12 just as I did number 18 in a 3-13 rookie year. Go Colts!

  3. Here I am again my Colts7 analyst! I read this and say 'exactly!'

This is a 16 game season. One week our fans think playoffs and Super Bowl. Next week...the latrine on the military base...the outhouse on the old farm.

I need to touch on the great point on McAfee....he decides on his own to start out-kicking coverage again...kicking straight down the field? OK done there...been there...done that.

Freeman has played so hard. 14 tackles....and he missed 4 or 5...playing his heart out.

3 phases of the game and we had major breakdowns in 2 of 3....for the first time the MAJOR breakdown was not a Hester run back...Jacoby Jones...______ (fill in the blank)

Injuries hurt us badly on defense, and Luck will have rookie days just like our beloved 18!!! Thanks for the blog!

  4. I forgot to mention that in the blog, the guys who stepped up, Shipley, Linkenbach, Vaughn, Fokou, it was a big win and an awesome effort for Pagano

Fokou made some hits! We needed effort. I am not a Link fan, but he looks much more active at guard!! BTW...I know you...like me will always 'cal it as we see it....I would have it no other way!!! :)

  5. I am glad I go on to check the blogs. So much has been written on the forums that is meaningless and argumentative ...and soooooo many closed minds to football. Another super blog Colts7!

One area I am going to touch on here is your positive outlook to what has been slammed as such a mess of a line. While I agree it is "Makeshift," I see the Packers, Pats, Cardinals......really 80% of the teams are a mess at OL and I have never seen offensive line play this 'offensive.'. You are absolutely spot on on last week's performance as to the run blocking.

When we were still on Colts Direct, I mentioned AQ Shipley as a guy who needed a chance. He was solid all game, and when helping Link blew some serious holes 'right up the gut.' I thought AQ was the MV(OL)

I agree with everything here. Just wanted to point out Shipley. I hope the Jets effort vs. Texans wore off, and Luck and our ChuckStrong Colts go after them with intent to destroy!!! Thanks for the blog! :):colts: :colts: :colts:

  6. Chris, I have read some of your good posts and write ups. I began the year thinking 6-10.....my hopes raised to as high as 8-8. The title down to earth is a good one. With this team we should try and stay 'grounded' every week. Why?

Injuries mounting....some coming back....then more injuries......we just are not having continuity. I am not with the poster saying the coach in an asterisk (What does that mean anyway?) Hall Of Famer? :)

This game is week to week...practice to practice...learn from mistakes...and play again. Look at the Minnesota Vikings!!! 3-1???? Their loss is to the same mighty Colts were are discussing. The Saints are 0-4!

I will hang in there with this team, and the disappointment of the Jags game gives me heartburn.....PREVENT DEFENSE should never be played....let alone with the game on the line. I would not play it with a 47-0 lead....I want to 'shut em out.' Go :colts: :colts: :colts: ....and hang in there fans.

  7. Toughest schedule in the league. The mastery of the line of scrimmage is there! The brilliant mind is there. Peyton has experienced some drops and some excellent disguising defenses.

Anybody who counts this great quarterback out has never watched a Manning play....Archie, Peyton and Eli!

Lastly, Manning has proven he can take major hits and get right back up. This year's story has yet to be written. :)

  8. That's the only explanation I can come up with, the Vikings beating the 49ers, the Bears-up, down, up, as I mentioned the Saints 0-3, partially due to their coach not being with the team, which enforces what I said about changes, the Saints are loaded with talent and without their coach, are struggling, you can have a great team,on paper and still come up short, with wholesale changes, it's almost impossible to compete for 16 games.

don't think a week 4 bye week is quite ideal, but you have to deal with the hand your dealt, the team should get better as the year goes on, but also injuries will take their toll and expose the lack of depth and ........maybe the biggest key, young players make mistakes, take it to the bank

A ton of fans forget we started the initial training camp with I believe 53 players with an R or a 1next to their experience. Great point!

  9. I am glad I could not sleep, and decided to check out the blog section!!

I feel a super point is made here by Colts7 by his use of the word 'parity.' Look at the games yesterday. Minnesota over SF? Tenn. drops 44 points on the Lions....Big Ben falls hard in Oakland. NE is 1-2 (last time I checked so are the Colts) and the Saints are 0-3.

I was not happy initially we had such an early bye. With injuries mounting to what is a rebuilding/retooling (whatever one calls it :)) team, it is much needed in hopes that Angerer, Reitz, and Freeney can get back (among others) Without continuity, this team simply cannot gel.

Another nice analysis here by Colts7.

  10. Ken, I have written in other forums that I feel 'strongly both ways' on this topic. (Less filling/tastes great Billy Martin!)

Giving it a chance to settle, I call it a rookie coach not fully understanding the so-called unwritten rules. It just so happened to come against Tom Coughlin's Super Bowl champs.

Being old school football I appreciate the intensity of play, yet once again look back to see Tampa Bay let the Giants 'go' on numerous other occasions. To me not being consistent made the play dirtier/less professional/more Bush League than it would of had Tampa Bay applied the same philosophy during the entire game.....new coaches need to learn what is right and wrong just like new players.

  11. Thank you Nadine for posting this for everyone. Number 7 to me is a big deal. I messed up one day typing in a game day thread and it came across as profanity.

One thing for everyone to remember is that what is profane to one person....may not be to the other. The forums is much more fun when we all get along......and some good solid debates too. :)

  12. Hello Ken! Once again we see things almost exactly the same way...a nice post.

I hear people say DEFENSE wins football games. I hear that a great QB and great OFFENSE wins games. Then I hear and see commercials that laugh when it comes to special teams. It boggles my mind that football fans do not seem to grasp that 3rd phase of the game that is critical to the other two phases. (Rant off)

We have a HOF kicker and a Pro Bowl caliber punter/kickoff specialist. We need to not kick the ball straight down the field at any point...let alone line drives that can be instant momentum killers/game changers.

While we are seeing gradual improvements in the ST area, we need all 3 phases and all 53 men to play hard nosed football for 60 minutes....as you say "There is no formula..." and quite frankly that is why we love this game soooooooo much. Thanks for another SUPER blog! :applause::td:

  13. Nice blog Coltsguy511. I really like the homework on the videos.

As most on the site know who are familiar with my philosophy, I tend to live in 'the moment.' I want to see how we progress with the players we currently have under the tutelage of what I consider to be a FANTASTIC 'teaching' staff of football coaches. For example, even though the OL has been crucified, watching the footwork and blocking during some of the 1st string offense's 'big plays' shows that there is 'attention to fundamentals.' Love it....Allen and Castonzo in particular.

As for your positional choices, at this point I agree. ROG and RT is a work in progress and needs an upgrade. Some dislike Reitz at LG, but watch his footwork. Playing basketball....is huge even for the big lineman. He WILL get better and better barring injury.

I love a WR and TE that have 'bad' basketball skills as well.....so I like your choice (Go up and get it!!!)

Lastly, we have cap room next year to make our draft needs change as well.....but as I live in the moment with this year's team....the architecture/blueprint of our COLTS has me being soooooo positive and optimistic for the future.

Thanks for the blog and nice videos!!!

  14. I really like this reminder. I want to add it is not fun in the least being away from friends that you develop on this site. Being away means missing out on the great people and posts. Being away sucks in the off-season let alone when the real stuff is here. There is nothing like being on here on game day whether in chat or in a game day thread!!! :)

I am on nearly every day, and want to say there are varying levels of knowledge. I encourage new posters to read a lot of posts before starting your first thread. Also introduce yourselves in Member Introductions: If you are a 'kid' jjust wanting to learn football tell us. We will be glad to help.

Lastly the moderation team works together very well in coming to decisions. Debates can get heated....when it is obvious that you both are 360 degrees apart....just agree to disagree. I did that with one of my best friends on here...and we laughed about it. And in difficult cases...use the Ignore function. I learned the hard way, but I am glad I did. Happy posting!!
