If Kareem Jackson never held Inman, it would have been 28-0 at half
Smart move by Jackson; he was beat bad and it was either a TD or a PI. Take the PI every time in that situation kids.

Think I read Ballard had a big hand in the draft class that included Kelce and Hill ( and I am sure other), I imagine as a scout you have to know the strengths and weaknesses of said players. If those weaknesses haven't been corrected then I guess it could help. However, they would be poor professionals if they haven't done anything to improve or fix those weak points of their game since college. Finally, I bet with college players declaring for the draft and all that going on right now his focus might be shifting to watching tape on prospects than helping game plan for KC. I feel like Ballard's advice is going to be the same we all have; keep Hill in front of you, put a body on Kelce, and run the ball with Mack.... often.

I realize he won't win the award I'm just declaring he should be coach of the year
This reminded me of The Office when Michael declares bankruptcy. Not sure why, just a big screaming declaration that meant nothing I guess lol. I think Frank will get votes, but Nagy won more games and the division that plays against Aaron. Also, pretty sure it is a regular season award. If it was actually 'the year' then maybe he could win it with a deep playoff run.

If you believe it was close enough that NY could have called it either way then they were not going to overturn the refs call on the field.
I think it was so close I have changed my mind a couple of different times.
All it ended up being was a garbage time TD. The Colts pretty much dominated the game. Even in the 2nd half the Colts used ball control and had no mistakes to let the Texans into the game.
I guess I am looking at it from the flip side too; if the call on the field would have been a touchback and challenged by the Texans I think NY would have overturned it and called it a TD. It's just a feeling of how the NFL plays out more often than not. Not saying games are rigged or anything overly crazy like that but the NFL is a business and closer games and ratings are more desirable than shutouts and garbage time, especially in primetime/playoff games. Like I said before we won and it kept me on the edge of my seat for a bit longer, now on to KC.

I don't think New York saw enough to overturn the call on the field.
Ratings had nothing to do with it regardless.
I think we have all seen a lot less get overturned. I believe it was close enough NY could have called it either way they really wanted. Honestly, it did make for better TV and the Colts won so I won't cry over it.
-
I honestly believe New York told them to uphold the call because a shut out that early in the 4th qtr would have been really bad for ratings, instead they kept the touchdown and the next 6 to 10 min had a bit of tension. It was close but I agree with most posters on here that he lost control of the ball right before he crossed the goal line.

The only team that scares me in the playoffs is the Colts. We have the top defense in the NFL since week 7 I believe. We have a top 5 offense as well. However, we are young. For a lot of the team it will first time playoff experience. We can be our own worst enemy if we arent careful. If we show up and eliminate dumb mistakes (like lucks pick six) I dont see any other team blowing us out of a game.

I can't even imagine what they'd want in a trade. They aren't going to go for the 'I'll give a 4th' nonsense fans love to throw out.
Id pass and just draft one at #32 in the draft
32 in the draft... I see what you did there

Happy new year everyone. 2018 turned out to be a great year for the colts. Hope 2019 brings even better fortunes.

We really won’t see what Cain has to offer until probably 2020. It takes a long while to come back to forum post knee
I feel like the average nfl turn around for an acl tear is like 8 to 12 months. With him being so young I would expect him to bounce back relatively quick and be ready for training camp.

I agree, I am just talking the first 2 rds. I would rather a pass rusher and cb. If we go wr I trust Ballard, if we dont I wouldn't cry about it. Because of ty and inman with hopefully cain being the player some think he might be.
-
Was just thinking I wouldnt be mad at ty, inman, and cain for wr core and spend the picks on defense next year.

Merry Xmas to you and yours, the whole colts family!

That tie with Houston looks like it would have been really good right now; however, the team has said a few times they needed that loss to hold a players only meeting that turned everything around. kind of one of those paradox situation.

I read that Friday practice was going to be the determining factor if he plays or not; then I also saw on Saturday that he is going to try to see if he can go during warm ups... basically anyone's guess right now. If he goes I think we win by 10, if he is not available it will be a real tough day for the offense.

Brandin Cooks gets traded every year right? Maybe a Colt next year?

I think the team just isn't that good and the Jacksonville defense played lights out.
I think team is above average. Offense is good (not great), defense is coming together nicely; but we will say average, and special teams is average. Jags are a talented team but below average... this should have been a win but we weren't motivated to play them. "Hard work beats talent, when talent doesnt work hard" -KD
We didnt work hard or put forth the effort. This loss is not about lack of talent or scheme. 90% effort and 10% arrogant playcalling.

You're right.
I'm sure the Colts were studying all week for Houston.
"Trap" games are a myth in the NFL.
Especially for .500 teams.
I dont believe in trap games, but players and coaches do just go through the motions, I am sure at practice and film room sessions. Out on the field today it definitely looked that way. It was a disinterested team we put out there.

I think this is a young team with a rookie head coach who got humbled today. We got caught looking at Houston next week and the possibility of the playoffs. Went into a desperate and talented teams house and got that booty waxed.

Gotta zoom out and look at the big picture and how the colts have designed their offense. Every defense in the league now knows that play is in our book. They will have to account for it and leave a LB to spy on luck out of that set and motion. In theory this should free a TE or slot WR. That missed TD will be responsible for picking up a pivotal third down play later. Sometimes it's not just 6 pts, especially if we win a game later on because if it.

Executive of the year might be hard with how active the rams were this offseason and even during the season. Also, not sure how the McDaniels blunder will play into that award as well. Nothing like that has really happened before, unless you count BB walking out on the jets.
-
Honestly if we are wanting to make the playoffs, every game is a big game from here on out.
