  1. I think it is more Brees who is ready to move on. He was close to retirement last year. I think if this is season is cancelled he hangs it up and goes into broadcasting.
  2. I agree. I think it helps some of the older guys to have a season off. That being said, I think Brees retires as he has his broadcasting gig waiting for him.
  3. This is the Brady effect. Those guys know this was a rebuild year especially with Belichick not doing much to improve the team given the cap issues and signing broken down Cam on June 28. I don't blame them for opting out. Not worth the risk for what would be a 5-6 win season at best.
  4. I agree. What a brilliant move for the Jets. They will be terrible this year but now have the picks to potentially do what the niners did a few years ago. I am not sure what Seattle is doing. They seem desperate to win again with Wilson and Carroll but it is not coming together. Safety was not a need. Corner was as well as WR. Very strange trade for them kind of in "all in" move.
  5. I agree. I just don't know when anyone will feel good about having tens of thousands of fans in one stadium. That is the part that depresses me. But we will figure it out eventually.
  6. I understand what you are getting at here but this is the not the flu or a man made war. The contagion rate is off the charts. We just have to hope there is an adequate vaccine. I have this horrible feeling that however this virus was engineered it is going to wreak havoc for a long time. I really hope I am wrong.
  7. This is very depressing. I agree with folks who think that football will not happen. I am not sure any of the sports happen. I think 2020 is a complete wash.
  8. I agree. After appearing to be out ahead of this thing back during FA and the draft, they seem very ill-prepared in how to manage the season. I think they may be waiting to see what happens with the other sports as they are all going to begin playing games this month and go from there. I am not sure that is a good idea either as the rosters in football are so much bigger, it is by far the most contact sport and the teams will not play in a bubble. The challenges are immense. I would like to think they will figure something out because so much money is on the line to play the season but things currently don't look very promising.
  9. It's not really good news. There is no way that the league is doing to let games be played if players test positive on one team and not the other. They will either postpone or cancel the games. That is why I think having a season this year is pretty slim to none.
  10. The league did not find anything on the football operations side BUT the Pats deserved the punishment for sheer stupidity given their history.
  11. The more I look at the deal, it is a huge win for the Chiefs. They have him locked up for 12 years and they hold all the cards to cut him at any point if he does not perform well or gets injured. Mahomes may really hate this deal if Reid is not his coach past the next few years.
  12. So this is how far NE fans have fallen now? Have to pump your chest on a Colts board?
  13. Bill obviously does not agree with you given he signed broken down Cam on the cheap.
  14. Dynasty is officially over with this massive deal.
  15. 2009 seems like a hundred years ago.
  16. Michel is a JAG. Newton hasn't been a dual threat for 3 seasons. Defenses will stack the box and force Newton who has been a very inaccurate passer throughout his career to throw into tight windows to receivers who were 32nd in the league last year at getting separation. It is going to be a beautiful dumpster fire in NE.
  17. Really does not matter either way whether you think they deserved it or not. Roger has handed out the most severe penalties of any commish. That was the overall point.
  18. When Roger was hired his directive from the owners was to clean up the league and be the heavy hand. If you look at Roger's tenure compared to other commish's his penalties have been way over the top - See Saints bountygate, Dallas/Redskins punishments for going over the cap in an uncapped year and the Pats deflating footballs. And those are the team ones, it would take too long to list his player punishments. It really can't be denied so like I said cheating is cheating regardless of penalty which is always subjected to the commish discretion.
  19. Cheating is cheating regardless of the penalties. Since Roger became comish the penalties have gotten out of hand for every team caught.
  20. Plenty of teams have been caught cheating more than once. Just about every team in the league. Do some google searches.
  21. I guess finishing better than the Colts is now the high bar for the mighty Pats.
  22. I am not sure what to tell you. JB was drafted in 4 years ago. He has started two full seasons for the Colts and he has been awful.
  23. Wait. Weren't you the one telling me that Stidham was the starter? That Bill was high on him and he was the guy? Now on June 28 he gets a broken down, beaten up Cam?
  24. They will get a third round comp for Brady.
  25. Yeah. I don't like the 20 picks either. I am trying to be optimistic that Reich will reign him and focus more on the run. I really don't think NE is in a better situation. Newton has serious injury issues and has not been a good play for several seasons. I think they signed him more as insurance as they only have Stidham and Hoyer. They easily have the worst QB room in the league. The Colts are better with Rivers and Brissett IMO. Not sure it will be enough to get us where we need to go -the playoffs but Newton for sure is not leading the Pats anywhere.
