  1. https://www.nfl.com/news/jets-trade-qb-zach-wilson-to-broncos-in-exchange-for-late-round-pick-swap
  2. I like the signing, especially after having lost Minshew to the Raiders. If Flacco is forced to play as many games as Gardner was, we're screwed anyway but Joe is a seasoned veteran who won a Superbowl as a starting QB, and the knowledge he can offer AR in that respect could be invaluable.
  3. He did go to the Elite Eight one year with Kent State.
  4. The next few years will be a referendum on how much weight Superbowl rings carry in Hall of fame selections, compared to QBs of the past - there are currently 5 QBs in the Superbowl era without rings in Canton (Fran Tarkenton, Dan Fouts, Warren Moon, Jim Kelly & Dan Marino) and Philip Rivers has more passing yards & touchdown passes than each of them so if he is denied, it will be questionable at best.
  5. Philip should get in on his 1st ballot, he won't be up against either Big Ben or Eli, (unless he gets snubbed on his 1st try) and he's got better statistics than the both of them. Eli will come eligible the year before Rivers, he's a Manning with 2 SB MVPs so he'll get in with his .500 career record, and when Philip comes up the following year with superior stats, it'll be hard to justify keeping him out. Roethlisberger will get in on the strength of his 3 Superbowl appearances with 2 wins.
  6. I'm not just surprised that Antonio Gates didn't get in, I'm utterly shocked! He's got the most touchdown receptions of any Tight End in NFL history, 5 ahead of Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez in 1 fewer season and he's #7 All Time in that category, the 6 above him (Jerry Rice, Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Cris Carter, Marvin Harrison & Larry Fitzgerald, all Hall of Famers with the exception of Fitzgerald who will be eligible next year) were all Wide Receivers! Whoever didn't vote for Antonio should lose their privileges, the only advantage that I can think of that Gates had over Gonzalez is that Antonio had back-to back future Hall of Fame quarterbacks throwing to him in Drew Brees & Philip Rivers, where as the only potential HOF QB that Tony had was Matt Ryan at the end of his career, and there's no guarantee that Matt gets in.
  7. Congrats to former Bears Devin Hester, Steve McMichael & Julius Peppers who were elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
  8. I think it's fair to say that the Chiefs won those 2 Superbowls more because of Andy Reid & Patrick Mahomes than their OC, especially if they win on Sunday. Josh McDaniels was on New England's coaching staff for all 6 of Brady's SB wins with the Patriots, and he blew both Head Coaching opportunities he got and finished a total of 12 games under .500 collectively. Some people are just better as Coordinators, like Norv Turner and many others.
  9. Sid Luckman - Drafted by the Bears #2 overall in 1939, played his entire career (12 years) in Chicago, starting 61 of the 128 games he played, 5-1 record in the postseason with 4 championships & 5 first team All Pro selections, he was the 1st QB to throw 7 TD passes in a game, a feat since duplicated by 7 others (Adrian Burk, George Blanda, Y. A. Tittle, Joe Kapp, Peyton Manning, Nick Foles & Drew Brees) and he is a member of both the College & Pro Football Halls of Fame. Jim McMahon - Drafted by the Bears #5 in the 1st Round, played 7 seasons, started 61 of the 66 games he played with a 46-15 record, and a victory in Superbowl XX. Jay Cutler - Traded from Denver to Chicago while he was a Pro Bowl QB, played 8 seasons, started all 102 games he played for the Bears, with a .500 record (51-51) throwing 154 touchdowns against 109 picks. Rex Grossman - Drafted by the Bears in the 1st Round, (#22) played 6 seasons, started 31 of the 36 games he played with a 19-12 record, led them to Superbowl XLI with the same regular season stats (23 TDs & 20 interceptions) that Eli Manning had when he led the Giants to Superbowl XLII the following season. Jim Harbaugh - Drafted by the Bears in the 1st Round, (#26) played 7 seasons, started 65 games and played in 89 with a 35-30 record with 50 touchdowns & 56 interceptions. Justin Fields was drafted #11 overall in 2021, he's started 38 of the 40 games he's played in with a 10-28 record, with 40 touchdown passes against 30 picks, and 2,220 rushing yards for 130 1st downs & 14 touchdowns. I think you can probably win with him, especiallty if you give him a few supporting offensive weapons and even an average defense, and Matt Eberflus can produce that.
  10. I remember when the losing teams of the championship game would coach the Pro Bowl squads in their respective conferences, and after the 2006 season it was Bill Belichick and he got divisional rival Buffalo's punter Brian Moorman absolutely blown up by the late Sean Taylor on a fake punt - I'll bet Bills coach Dick Jauron was probably steamed about that!
  11. I liked Frank, both in San Diego & in Indy but his coaching gets stale real quickly - as the Chargers' OC, he was fired in early January of 2016 after the Bolts ranked 31st in rushing (despite drafting RB Ryan Mathews in the 1st round) and the entire offense was listless. He was hired as Philly's OC later in the month. Made to look all the better with the improvement of the team's performance under Shane, and the fact that Carolina also fired him mid-season, after he had taken over playcalling with negative effects. Frank the offensive playcaller keeps getting Frank the Head Coach fired, and I believe that had he turned over those duties last year, he at least lasts the season and if the new playcaller was effective enough to win a few more games, he possibly even starts this season as our Coach.
  12. Nick was curiously quiet after Carolina fired Reich this year, before he had even completed 1 season with them. We gave Frank 4 years and every opportunity, (albeit with a different starting QB in each) but the same thing got him fired in both places: his unimaginative playcalling, and he lost the locker room in both cities and it was evident with the effort & results shown on the field.
  13. In addition to the 13 games he started, Minshew finished a few of the first 4 games in relief of AR. I think the only way the Colts don't resign him would be if another team showed interest in him as their starter but I doubt that will be the case. If he's going to be a backup, Indy is as good as anywhere else for him, probably better than most considering his familiarity with Shane & his system.
  14. I would agree, but IMO he did a better coaching job than the other candidates based on the personnel each guy had at their disposal, mainly at quarterback. Besides Shane, the only other coach that I could see winning as much with Minshew starting 13 games for them would be Kevin Stefanski of the Browns, who made the playoffs using 4 different starting QBs and he should be named COTY based on that alone.
  15. I'd rather have won last night and made the playoffs, knowing that we would've won the division and hosted a game is more salt on the wound of missed opportunity.
  16. I'd be glad to have him back, for the right price. He filled on admirably in JT's absence and could be an absolute threat if paired in the same backfield with Taylor.
  17. We'll see, due to the fact that his QB1 will still be learning on the job, especially if Minshew moves on to another team - he does need to add another offensive weapon in the form of another WR or a reliable TE to help AR succeed.
  18. I think Ballard will get a pass due to the fact that his QB1 missed the majority of this season, and his QB2 & rookie HC led us to the cusp of a postseason berth.
  19. That was the case last week, he was wide open twice early and Minshew went to him the second time, resulting in a touchdown.
  20. This season's roster was good enough for a postseason berth, perhaps even a divisional title depending on the results of the Jaguars game later today.
  21. I sorta agree, but this year we should've been the playoff team - we were playing at home in primetime with the more experienced QB against a team with a rookie QB who had yet to play outside of the 1 pm EST window and missing his top TE & pass rusher, yet we failed to lead at any point (we almost led by 3 but hit the upright from 57 yards out) and it was the culmination of an entire season of missed opportunities.
  22. I kinda agree, we had 3 "win & in" games in those 2 combined seasons, and failed in both of them. I fault personnel in 2021, and coaching in 2023.
  23. AR was bound to go through rookie growing pains, there is no guarantee that we'd be in the "win & in" position had he played all season but I agree, Bradley needs to go - he makes average QBs look good, and good ones look elite.
  24. This is why Bradley should go
  25. Yet the Steelers are still alive for the postseason (they'll probably be eliminated today) and they do have that impressive streak of 20 consecutive non-losing seasons.
