It just means the Chargers are almost for certain picking a WR, because they lost both their best receivers this off-season. And the Cardinals losing Hollywood Brown almost certainly means they will be picking WR too. So... 4 and 5 will be WRs. And if the Pats decide to go with WR over QB then this means all top 3 WRs will be gone by 5. And if not... the Giants at 6 have severe lack of receivers ... Titans... Jets... Broncos...

    Well Said.

So, same for Brock Bowers as well.

Regarding why I brought up Partridge in the first place it’s because YOU asserted Partridge had influence in asset allocation.
And you said you’d be worried if Ballard was listening to CP about asset allocation.  I stated that was not true, that spending is entirely up to Ballard.  Your argument was incorrect.   I don’t know how and why we’re missing each other on this?

    That's not how it happened.

You brought up DL coach Charlie Partridge in the first place, just as in your comment above, to say that Ballard brought him to improve the defensive line players in pass rush (among other things), and how Partridge would've had influence in deciding to get the backup NT Raekwon Davis in free agency.

So, you brought him into the discussion.

After that only, Superman said it'd be worrisome if Ballard needed Partridge to advise on asset allocation.

I don't think Superman "asserted Partridge had influence in asset allocation.", he was implying what you said (as stated in the first para here).

Apart from what Superman thinks, I think you're bringing up Partridge to make assertive statements like

    Quote

And you’re going to bring up not enough pressures and my answer to that is Charlie Partridge.

    Quote

Look, you know Ballard can’t get rid of his D lineman so instead he brings in a guy he believes will help them all get more pressures. I’m not saying you have to love Partridge as I do, all I’m suggesting is Ballard had a plan in place and you seem reluctant at best to acknowledge it.

There's no sure thing Ballard brought Partridge to Indianapolis to help get more pressures in the games from his DLmen.

When a DL coach is hired by an NFL team, it's to develop the defensive linemen and identify prospects in the league or draft to coach them up in schemes, disguises, edge setting, pass rush, run stop, mechanics and techniques, coverages, blitzes, etc.,

But, just because Partridge is here doesn't mean it guarantees improvement in pass rush and pressure rate, as you assert above.

How do you expect others NOT Reluctant to accept that at the face value?

He has the #1 pick. That is important. Does he draft Williams or Daniels?

I am not familiar with that WR. I read that he was with the Bills and Dolphins. I guess we signed him over KJ Osborn . We lost a lot of free agents this year. Mattison is still out there.

Sherfield, it looks like, he got drafted by Cardinals, then spent a year each in SF, Miami and Buffalo. Osborn may be available for less, may come back? There's a slight chance if other teams aren't high but some other team should pick him up. Mattison, I'm not sure, only if RB Market dries up, Kareem Hunt is still available, I guess, I'd like them to get him if they don't plan to draft one.

So, regarding Falcons' tampering accusation , the one who got Falcons in trouble was none other than, Kirko "Chains" Cousins, albeit inadvertently.

    https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/kirk-cousins-admits-to-direct-communications-with-falcons-during-negotiating-period

He supposedly spoke in his introductory press conference how he was talking with various support staff and PR team of Falcons during legal tampering period, and that is being investigated by NFL now.

If Falcons lose draft pick(s) because of this, it would be so funny dark humor stuff (in a  tragic way for Falcons).

Kirk has been in his prime form when he kneels during the snap and then tries to outrun the defensive line after the whistle.

I expected more from him coming out of college.

We signed a WR that I never heard of before. He played for the Dolphins.

I think he was with Shanahan in 49ers before that, he was a good WR4... competition in camp, and could serve in designed plays and few snaps every game.

4th round pick. @stitches  You have one less pick for the Bears. Hopefully the Bears trade Fields for picks.

@stitchescould switch team if he desires. And, at this rate, he may not have any picks left to draft anyway :funny:

Since we’ve settled in on going after QB this draft, we’ve decided to trade Sam Howell to the Seahawks. We appreciate the work Sam put in while here in Washington but we want to do what is best for him and his future as well as moving forward with our plans for the future of the Commanders.

We will receive picks 78 and 152 in exchange for Howell, picks 102 and 179.

I'm surprised Howell got good returns, he did have some great games and earned lots of recognition.

Is it okay if I back out of this draft? I have some health matters I'm dealing with. I'm not sure I can commit to this right now. To much life things going on right now. I would appreciate it if I can back out. Not that I want to. Hopefully I can get back to normal health. Thanks!!

Sure, you can always come back and check around draft time.

What happens is we'd end up with few GMs taking extra duty taking 2 or 3 teams during the draft, so if you want to come back and join during the draft, there will be no problem assigning a team back for you.

    Take Care.

Jerry Tillery signed a one-year deal with the Vikes. I liked this guy coming out of college. He did not play well when he got to the pros.

@jvan1973 You are a Notre Dame fan. What happened to Tillery? Do you think he can salvage a decent career?

Last year was the only year he graded above average by PFF, that was with new team in Vegas. He was very poor all rookie years with Chargers, maybe he'd do okay as last year. Just an experimental signing.

I just got a new phone, and it logged back in no problem. It’s saved somewhere, and that works for me lol.

@jskinnz It's saved in your browser... If you're using Google Chrome in your phone (if Android, not iPhone), Chrome does a great job remembering your passwords across different phones, computers, laptops, tablets. You should've no problem signing back in a new phone. Other browsers should do the same ideally, but I've not checked much.

@NFLfan @VikingsFanInChennai With the signing of Mason Rudolph with the Titans, Ryan Tannehill is definitely on the chopping block, IMO, and the Vikings could use a year of his services while grooming a rookie QB.

I think he's playing like Ryan before retirement (has he announced? haha). I'm fine with Darnold for this year, whether or not they draft a QB this year. QBs for emergency are always available as last year shows, just have to alter the expectations. We've been on vet QB carousel ever since Bridgewater had pre-season injury but I'm okay if they don't see a very good QB in the draft this year. I'd like them to get their evaluations close to right, when they decide to draft a QB rather than drafting for the need.

In your head, every one of your ideas work out perfectly, but thats not what happens in real life.

I know you dont think run defense matters at all, and that anybody can do what Grover Stewart and Zaire Franklin do, but thats just not true. It just creates more needs and weakness on the team. And we all saw when Grover was out what it meant to the defense. It wasnt good, because run defense is very important. We dont have Patrick Mahommes to win shootouts for us.

Then.......if your other moves dont work out, you arent "mid" anymore, you are horrible and getting fired.

I think they're not saying Colts shouldn't have re-signed Stewart or Franklin for keeping good run defense, they're talking about additional spend on improving pass rush and pass coverage in overall asset allocation, that will make the defense better in pass defense as well while improving the ability to get to the QB consistently.

So far, that hasn't happened but if the reports are true and if they're pursuing Sneed, that'd be the addition they're talking about. Overall, more efforts can be taken to resolve the gaps at same time rather than gradually fixing one by one year after year, by which some other position would need to be fixed again.

They want such aggression from Ballard now because the Colts have finally got the QB and he's on a rookie deal, so the time is now to spend on other premium positions in order to make the team stronger around him, instead of running back with same roster asking him to raise the level of team's performance.

I wonder if the Chiefs would be interested in Pierce as part of a trade for Snead.  They are reportedly looking for receiver help to go for the three in a row.  He is a young starter on a rookie contract and they might find that very attractive.  We get to keep our day one and two picks too.  That leaves us with a missing veteran wide receiver.  Still a number of FA receivers still out there like Brown and Samuel.  If they resign Snead that could make it very difficult to get that veteran receiver help.  Just a thought.

Chiefs are already going back and forth on keeping Sneed, per the reports. So if you're gonna convince them, Colts should've sent Pittman not Pierce. No way Chiefs are going to give up Sneed and Not get any draft picks in return and get an unproven guy with potential. They'd either get a proven guy or high draft pick, if Colts don't give some other team will give them a juicy offer.

That's what I'm hoping happens today. I would love to sign Dillon and release Cox to pay for his salary + a bit more.

Dillon hasn't been impressive when Jones missed time in Green Bay, he'd be an okay RB2 for sure so that should be the expectations. You'd do well rather drafting a guy. I think Kareem Hunt is free agent, right? He'll be a better option if you are going FA, and his price range would be worth for his play than Dillon's.

Is he Tua's brother? Before you mentioned him, I had not heard of him.

Regarding Penix, considering his injury history, I worry that he will get hurt. I also was not impressed with him in the Championship game.

That's one game against Harbaugh and Michigan, right? He'd lost only 3 games or so with Washington, with 24-2 winning record in regular season in 2 years.

Injuries were a lot but they happened before those 2 years, so I'm not sure if I have to worry about that.

If he gets injured again in NFL and becomes injury prone, it's only a waste of first round pick just like many of the first round draft picks Minnesota wasted on CBs. At least here we'd waste on finding a franchise QB, which is a good cause in right direction for the franchise.

I'd really not draft him only if his accuracy/touch, mechanics or his progressions and IQ aren't good and are not fixable.

Injuries are not in anyone's control, if there's no cause of concern in his medicals right now.

His success in the NFL won't be affected by not attending the combine

I guess you didn't care to read my actual points which have been stated multiple times, and you're going on a tangent or you're acting like you're God and you know the future. That's good, as you should've already known that this discussion has reached its end.

He is getting drafted early .  It really hasn't effected anything

I already said many pages back that it may not affect his draft slot, but getting drafted very early is much different than having a great career, and talent alone doesn't get someone to both of these.

Hes going to be drafted top 5 anyway.  Deion sanders did stuff like this and it didnt hurt him either.  I think Deion even showed up and then walked out on some teams saying he didnt have time for them lol

I get that people dont like this but it wont actually hurt him.

It won't actually hurt him if he's that Elite.

I love when athletes do this, just because they will have to prove beyond the expectations for all these antics lol

Deion did it, he played 2 sports and didn't care, he truly was busy with his life not to care about formalities.. let's see about Harrison Jr.

We can give you some picks for Jefferson so you can try to move up to 3? Or does it look like your FO has no intention of trading Jefferson?

Giving up Jefferson in a string of trades to move up to top 3 to draft QB sounds good,

    But...

I don't think this QB class is that good to do so.

I'd just stop all trade talks, keep JJ, go with Darnold, get a better draft pick with much better cap room next year (devoid of dead cap hit for Kirk, Cook, Hunter, etc.,) try to draft QB next year.

I'm not very eager to draft QB this year as @NFLfan does.

JJ can be traded next year as well to move up. He'll be an asset next year too.

Those are huge cap hits. My goodness. Thank goodness we are free of that.

I wrote earlier that Wonnum signed but I cannot confirm it anywhere. That may be inaccurate.

Falcons are stuck with Kirk for 2 years at least (90 million and 65 million dead money in next 2).

If they want to cut him, they can by '26 with 37.5 million dead cap hit over two more years or by '27 with 12.5 million dead money.

Broncos might have had an easier cut with Russell Wilson in comparison.
