  1. I think the chances of Luck pulling an Elway are about the same as Luck coming out and saying you know I've thought about it and I don't want to play football anymore.  Yes it can happen but it's a pretty safe bet to say it wont.  There have been zero signs to support that Luck is even thinking about pulling an Elway or Eli Manning.

Again, it wasn't my thought. I was commenting on others thoughts.

  2. Neither the Colts nor Manning deserve squat in the way of compensation for that play.  Football is a tough sport and occasionally things like that will happen, there's really no foolproof way of preventing it.  As far as Bountygate is concerned, though...

It's asinine to believe that what happened to Peyton on that play was intentional. I know that looking for someone to blame is only natural and Gregg Williams certainly does seem to fit the bill of the villain as of late but it's a massive leap to say that Phillip Daniels wanted Manning hurt.  Daniels is one of the NFL's legitimately good guys and, for that matter, so is the guy responsible for tying Peyton's legs up (Andre Carter).  It's an ugly hit because of the way Peyton got bent backwards but it wasn't particularly vicious.  Daniels didn't launch himself at Peyton or go for the head or anything, he just tried to wrap up a QB who was still trying to get rid of the ball and very likely wasn't aware of the fact that Peyton was tied up and in a compromising position until it was too late.

The key elements that usually signify a dirty play are all missing from the equation.  PeytonGirl said it pretty well in another thread...

Joe Theismann's injury was a freak accident.Peyton Manning's injury was laced with malicious intent.

  3. Hunh?  Luck was the one who set up a privite workout for us.  There have been no hints from Luck that he is going to tell the Colts not to draft him.  In fact just last week he was on a radio show where he said he would like to be a Colt.  So I don't get your last part.

It was in response to the conversation above about taking more time might increase Luck's willingness to pull an Elway. I know he's said that he wants to be a Colt, and Irsay has clearly been latched on for Luck for quite some time.It was just a comment addressing the previous discussions.

  4. Actually this is a clever ploy by the Redskins to get the Colts management to second guess themselves into thinking the Skins saw something the Colts didn't.  Then the Colts take RG3 with the first pick, the Redskins trade down with the Dolphins for 4 first rounders who takes Andrew Luck which was their target when Manning was messing with their heads and the Redskins draft Tannehill which was their goal all along.....

    Interesting conspiracy.

  5. I think Luck should take #13. D  Has there been a decent #13 since Marino?  I can't think of one.  And if Irsay were to give Luck #18, I would lose all respect for him.

**just to clarify, I think there's less than a 0 percent chance that Irsay would let Luck take #18.

    Hurt Warner was decent.

  6. It's already public knowledge that Williams did something similar in DC.  Several former players have commented about it: http://www.washingto...vAYxS_blog.html

Also worth mentioning that the hit on Peyton was almost certainly not the direct result of any bounty program.  Considering the way that play went down and the two Skins players involved (both grade A, class act types), it was just a freak accident that Peyton got all bent up like he did.

    Doubtful.
