    How bout we do both....

All I'm saying is that if we have a shot at a premier DT... and I mean a real disruptive inside pass rusher such as Javon Kinlaw, the kind of DT we always seemed to miss out on or pass over in the Manning/Polian days.... then I'd prefer we select Kinlaw and see what QB is available in rounds 2 or 3.

Honest question related to draft strategy.... because I know you're a Jordan Love proponent....

What do you think of Jamie Newman from Wake Forest? He played, and played well in the ACC....and for now, isn't getting the hype that Love is. He seems to be on that upward arch as a QB, as opposed to the plateau that many believe that JB has hit.

This is why I would rather see us fortify the DT position.... target Newman if he enters the draft... and declare the QB position wide-open between him, Brissett and Kelly next spring.

For all of JB's apparent limitations... we did not have that luxury when Luck bolted mere days ahead of Week 1. Reps mattered... and JB had them at the time.

Next season can be different.... competition, right?

I hear you and it makes sense but I don't see the HC having an open QB  competition.  Sadly I think he's ready to fall on his sword for Brissett.

I think if Kelly has been rubbing coaches the wrong way they would have released him already. The only logical reason for keeping him on the 53 is so they will have him back next season.

Yeah. I just can't get my head around why they wouldn't play him in these last 2 games. He lifted Ole Miss into the N.C. rankings, looked damned good at Denver and here too.

We had a QB at N.O. and we all wanted him to succeed but he was streaky.  Up one game and down the next.  We stuck with him for like 4 years and he never got better.  I sure hope this isn't about to happen with the Colts and Brissett.

  3. It is just like I have said all along,  the Colts will never give Kelly a real shot. They can only keep him for one more year, then after that he will be a free agent.  The moment he is,  he will walk right out the door and go somewhere he will have a legitimate chance to win a starting job.  The Colts will never even let him even take snaps with the 1s. Not in practice and not in the preseason.

  4. Supposedly Frank told one of the announcers tonight that Brissett is his guy. So that tells me that he will ride Brissett like the sinking ship he is and go to a watery grave. He's too enamored of Brissett to ever take a chance that he might be replaced by a draft pick or ... gasp....that wild guy Chad Kelly.

  5. I hear you but it was over a year ago and that is why I get red flags on this.

Do you think it really happened? Supposedly, there are witnesses. I don't doubt for a second that it did happen, but that's my personal take on it.

Put yourself in the other guy's situation. You get beat up randomly, and for no reason, by some drunk cocky football player. You wouldn't want to sue him for as much as possible?

Kelly's 2015 season at Ole Miss was pretty special, then his 2016 season was cut short with a torn ACL.

Kelly played in his first game with Mississippi on September 5, 2015, against UT Martin and completed 9 for 15 pass attempts for 211 yards and two touchdowns while adding a 20-yard rushing touchdown. On September 19, 2015, he led Ole Miss to its second victory ever at Tuscaloosa. In the 43–37 victory over No. 2 Alabama, he completed 18 out of 33 passes for 341 passing yards and 3 passing touchdowns. On November 7, 2015, Kelly accounted for 478 total yards and six touchdowns against Arkansas. Although he completed 24-of-34 passes for 368 passing yards and three passing touchdowns, Mississippi lost to Arkansas, 52–53, in overtime. The following week, he threw two touchdown passes and rushed for two touchdowns in a 38–17 victory over No. 15 LSU. On January 1, 2016, he helped lead Ole Miss to a 48–20 victory over No. 16 Oklahoma State in the 2016 All-State Sugar Bowl. He won Sugar Bowl MVP Honors after accounting for 21 completions out of 33 passes for 302 passing yards, four touchdowns, and one interception. Kelly also led the team with 73 rushing yards on 10 carries. His 4 passing touchdowns tied a Sugar Bowl record and were most ever by a Rebels' quarterback in the Sugar Bowl.

Kelly finished his first season with Ole Miss with 298 of 458 (65.1%) completions for 31 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He also accounted for 10 rushing touchdowns while appearing in all 13 games. While finishing the season with a 10–3 record, he became the first Ole Miss quarterback to lead the Rebels with victories over Alabama, Auburn, and LSU in the same season.

Kelly returned for his senior season in 2016. On November 5, 2016, Kelly suffered an injury during a 37–27 victory over Georgia Southern. The following day, it was reported that he would miss the rest of the season due to a torn ACL and a torn lateral meniscus. On February 16, 2017, the NFL rescinded an offer previously made to Kelly to participate in the NFL Scouting Combine. (This section is from Wikipedia)

If Kelly doesn't get hurt in 2016, he definitely would have been drafted much higher. Yes he has had problems off the field, but it's possible those are behind him now? He could be bust or he could be the biggest steal in the league....we're fools if we don't find out!

Exactly. And this is what all of us who watched him play in college and preseason games with both the Colts and the Broncos. Just give the guy a chance.

  7. The Colts will never give Kelly a legitimate shot at winning the starting job. They will slog through the rest of this season with Brissett, miss the playoffs and then trade up in the draft for a rookie QB. My greatest hope for Kelly is that the Colts cut him at the end of the season so he can go somewhere and have a chance to compete. He will never see the field in the regular season here.

  8. I've been following the forum here on JB and watching some of your games too. JB isn't starting material,  he's a high functioning backup. I'm sure he's a great guy but he's not going to take this team where y'all want it to go.  IMHO if he plays poorly in the 1st half against the Titans,  the coaches need to have CK ready to play in the 2nd half.  I'm not going to say he's the solution but at least they will know what to do come draft time.  Not looking means drafting a rookie and starting from scratch at the QB position. CK knows your offense so give him some reps with the 1s and have him ready to go.  The Colts have little to lose at this point and even if JB manages to squeak y'all into the playoffs, it's most likely a one and done thing.

  9. You people have short memories.  CK was placed on waivers late in the week after all the teams who were looking for QBs had already picked one up. That's the biggest reason he wasn't claimed.  Ya'll really should stick with Brissett and Hoyer next year and cut CK so that he can go somewhere else and actually have the opportunity to compete for a starting job. He sure isn't going to have that chance with the Colts.

  10. I hear some of you people's comments about Kelly's off the field issues but he didn't steal crab legs from a grocery store and rape a woman like one qb did. And that guy is an NFL  starter.  Kelly was/is an arrogant guy. He doesn't take any crap.  So has he gotten into some trouble,  sure,  but it was really minor stuff. I think it would be hilarious if he gets traded to a team in your division and becomes a thorn in your side for the next decade.
