Colts QB, the present, and the future (Merge)
blackcoffeeguy replied to Four2itus's topic in Colts Football
I'm so glad to find out that y'all released Chad Kelly. Now he will have a shot at being signed with a real team, one that actually wants to win. -
Let’s start the Eason vs Kelly battle
blackcoffeeguy replied to Chloe6124's topic in Colts Football
I was thrilled when Kelly was waived, thinking now he is a FA and can shop himself around to other teams that actually will want him, after their starter gets hurt, but no he resigned with the practice squad, ugh. A b ad move by Kelly imo, he will never be given a legitimate chance with the colts. -
Then cut him. BTW he never did anything egregious unlike Jameis Winton who was up for sexual assault until he bought off his accuser. Also he was injured at the time of the draft so his stock was way down.
-
Not me, I'd love for Kelly to be traded, at least he will have a legitimate chance to earn a starting job with another team. He'll never get that from the Colts.
-
Please cut or trade Kelly. You have 4 QBs now, one needs to go, I just hope it's Kelly so he can get a real opportunity because he sure isn't going to get one with the Colts.

Should the Colts draft a QB in the 2020 draft
blackcoffeeguy replied to WifiGuy's topic in Colts Football
He isn't on the practice squad. -
I can't believe y'all signed Rivers, I think that was a total waste of money. I stick with my original plan, which was draft a developmental QB in the late 1st or early 2nd round and let CK & JB battle it out for the starting job this year. Personally I think CK would easily win that competition and be your long term/franchise qb. I could be wrong about CK, it's possible but I don't think I am.
-
FWIW, cut Hoyer, draft a mid 2nd round qb for development and let CK &JB battle it out for the starting job. Personally I think CK would easily beat out JB for the starting position and become the Colts franchise qb.

Rapport: Colts expected to be in QB Market after talks with irsay
blackcoffeeguy replied to csmopar's topic in Colts Football
I hear you and it makes sense but I don't see the HC having an open QB competition. Sadly I think he's ready to fall on his sword for Brissett. -
Yeah. I just can't get my head around why they wouldn't play him in these last 2 games. He lifted Ole Miss into the N.C. rankings, looked damned good at Denver and here too. We had a QB at N.O. and we all wanted him to succeed but he was streaky. Up one game and down the next. We stuck with him for like 4 years and he never got better. I sure hope this isn't about to happen with the Colts and Brissett.

It is just like I have said all along, the Colts will never give Kelly a real shot. They can only keep him for one more year, then after that he will be a free agent. The moment he is, he will walk right out the door and go somewhere he will have a legitimate chance to win a starting job. The Colts will never even let him even take snaps with the 1s. Not in practice and not in the preseason.
