  1. IDK maybe. Training maybe. Do you think the NFL has worse refs than the NBA NHL or MLB? I don’t necessarily. if so what makes you think that.
  2. I just wish they’d do like the MLB and soccer. The central office notifies the official when it’s time to review a call. No challenges and all that crapola. It seems to work really well in baseball and soccer. Soccer is a lot like football in that fouls and penalties are all very subjective. But you let OZ ie the man behind the curtain take care of it and that is that. This would eliminate egregious errors like Sundays Pi. It’s doable and easy.
  3. They have full time refs umps because they play 162 and 82 games a year, 2-6 games a week. It’s obvious why they are full time. And many NBA, MLB, and NHL refs blow many calls. I just don’t think what is being proposed here is necessarily going to help. I have guy I know from my HS who is an NFL ref. He’s a lawyer. He went through years of HS and many levels of college before getting to the NFL. They are all very experienced. They pay their dues over a long time to get to that level. I am for discipline for bad officials. That could be feasible IMO. Have some sort of impeachment process lol. If the Orgs black ball a guy at like a 2/3s majority after a season can him. one thing I think could possibly be helpful if they were full time would be to make them ref a bunch of HS, CFB games. Real time games they have to work together on. It wouldn,t be that hard I don’t think. Working as a team takes practice and at most NFL crews practice 20 times a year if they make the SB. There might be problems with that but I just don’t think film study for 37 hrs if a 40 hr week with 3 during the game is going to help much. Watching on a screen is nothing like real time judging of the Worlds greatest fast twitch athletes.
  4. Yep. Growing up it was harder to see reffing errors on my 13 inch black and white, snowy reception TV I had in my room. they should have overruled that PI though lol.
  5. maybe IDK i don’t think this would make a difference. They know the rules I guarantee it. These things happen fast on the defensive holding. It’s nothing like a rule issue IMO. Idk man. I just don’t see that it would make a difference. they just should have conferred on the PI. It’s just a bad call. I don’t think the officials forgot the uncatchable rule there. Angel Hernandez has been umping for decades and he totally sucks. I’m not sure film study would have the effect you’re looking for. all baseball calls are clear. Mom for automatic computer balls and strikes. They can now right most wrongs on the bases and foul or fair. Football is nothing like that. No one ever travels in the NBA. They don’t apply the rule. It’s always weird to me. I wish they’d change the offensive holding rule to the way it’s done because literally almost every block is a hold according to the rules.
  6. Aree with this strongly. I've said similar many times in many different threads. Sure we let it play out. We can't do anything else unless stiches is Jimmy IRsay. I know I'm not lol. Brisset would probably not be a good option in SS offense. He's very slow. Although he's big and can shed tacklers. But he is also very slow with the release and decision making. SS offense seems to be into quick decisions and quickly released balls. I think GM is likely better fit than JB and Matt Ryan was a slow TTT, downfield passer most of his career.
  7. No I am just not a simplistic, bipolar thinker. I've been very consistent on this issue. But I do like that GIF lol.
  8. I don't know about that. I think Gardener Minshew is a bottom tier starter. He's limited, but I think he's in the top 32. Old Matt Ryan, JB, and Slingin Sammy aren't IMO. FR won 7 games with JB too. ie. one game away from 500. To me that's close to coach of the year material really. And some deluded souls were thinking about JB as an MVP candidate during the 1st half of the season. Let's see how SS finishes. The Colts start producing offensively closer to Sunday's point total like I've said many times, I'll adjust quickly. I am not saying that SS isn't going to be a better coach, I just think poeple are agenda driven with Frank. He did a pretty good job here under some very difficult circumstances. I don't think it's necessary to be bipolar on this issue either. FR can have done a decent job AND SS can be the future at the same time. Plus, Frank can have been decent AND also needed to be dispatched IMO. Lots of folks here spurn nuance lol and devolve into the either/or fallacy. If you think JB is way better than GM, then we just disagree. I'd say they are comparable. I'd prefer GMs quicker release and OK wheels over Jacoby no risket no bisket Brisset's size and arm cannon. and Frank was 3-3-1 with a win over KC with OLD MATT. Better than SS so far by a half game.
  9. That's increidible. I don't care about Holder, I'm talking about the Doc. It's like he's the best player in football, basketball , and baseball if does shoulders, UCLs, Achilles, etc. That is really something. Jim Thorpe, Bo Jackson, and Neon Deon only he's the best at each sport.
  10. Do you think it would make a difference? This is something I've thought about over the years. I remember as a young kid seeing a halftime or pregame segment on an NFL official who was a longshoreman. I remember being surprised the dude needed a 2nd job. They showed him unloading ships, and then getting ready to ref the game. I am not sure full time officials will make a difference. Maybe. The NFL and NBA have had full time officials for decades and people still see their glaring errors. The thing about football is it's really hard to call lol. There are all kinds of illegal things that happen on every play by the letter of the law. Literally almost every time any blocker engages he is holding by the letter of the law since he grasps the breastplate. Point being there is a lot of interpretation involved in NFL calls. That PI was incredible though. It's not on the guy that threw the flag for PI, his job is to watch the DBs and receivers. He might never have even seen the football. IF he didn't, he correctly threw his flag because the Dback DID clearly interfere with the receiver. But normally on a ball 6 ft above the reciever's head when he was on the back of the END zone when it landed 10-12 feet past the end line, the other officials would confer and rule that the ball was uncatchable. How do you think full time officials would help? It might sound like a dumb question, but what do the full time officilals do the other 165 hours when they're not officiating the game? Like seriously, what would full time officials do? Watch film all week? Train all week? Confer all week? I just don't see how they would be better. I am sure these guys know the rule book front to back sideways and diagonal.
  11. Somewhat surprising that the dude does achilles and shoulders. Must be an ablsolute monster with the scalpel.
  12. Apparently he did not want Young. Wentz? It worked out pretty good. One overthrown ball from the playoffs the 9th best QBR in FB. Ryan? Well before they lopped Frank's manhood off and forced him to start slingin Sammy, he was a half game better than we are now with Ryan. So Ok I guess. Apparently SS wanted AR. How is that working out? He might be great, who knows? But his tenure with the Colts pretty much comes down to AR and how good he becomes.
  13. How did Frank do here ? He had a better record than Ss at this point last year by a half game before he was made the start Sam. look it up lol.
  14. You obviously don’t know what the word revisionist means Einstein lol.
  15. Carolina averaged 20.4 last year then traded their beat player and starting an apparently unready or busty rookie. The one game the rookie didn’t play they scored the most they have all year. and btw, that was all from the box score. Don’t remember watching a down of Pants FB lol. you think the evidence is clear that SS is doing better or is it just a feeling you’re having? I hope he ends up better but what I really hope we get better players. That’s what I think will make a real difference.
  16. is Now I’ve said he was soft and didn’t love him as a coach. But his offenses did well and his teams were competitive. Not sad he’s gone. SS might be good here or he might not. But overall dude, it ain’t the Xs and the Os, it’s the Jimmys and the Joes. But I don’t know if I’ve said it to you but let’s see if SS starts throwing up 30-35 per. Then I’d change my mind quickly. Until this week we averages 23 ppg. Same as Jacoby. We torch the next couple of opponents then I’ll start evolving . Right now, SS has done nothing special with this club IMo. And I’m not at all anti SS.
  17. I don’t think comparing the Panthers this year to the Colts this year is as good as a comparison as the Colts this year to the Colts last year or even the year before that’s why fish. You do? Well if you do I disagree with you and I don’t understand your logic. We lost AR but he didn’t win a single game and I believe that loss doesn’t make us worse but actually a little better offensively . I watched just about every play from ever game since 1996 some games multiple times. With one of the worst QB years ever from Matt Ryan, Frank Reich was 500 at 3-3-1 last year with mostly the same personnel but a line that was unhealthy and playing way way worse. If you want to get personal go somewhere else. It’s boring. I think your logic is simplistic and sounds like a talking point. Reich’s teams were competitive with revolving QBs, scored more points, and made the post season twice with bad defenses and what I think is mediocre talent. I don’t love the guy but he was scapegoated here. What happened when he left? Oh yeah we were the laughing stock of the league . I don’t think anything is clear with SS here. I think he is dealing with the same mediocre team that Frank was. The results are similar.
  18. This pitch was ruled catchable by the officials.
  19. I’m just comparing SS so far to FR with the Colts. There isn’t much there statistically that supports SS being better as far as I can see. Before they emasculated Frank and forced him to play Slinging Sammy he was 3-4 just like SS. Correction. fR was actually slightly better at 3-3-1. FR also had 3 Offenses score more than 26 ppg his 5 years here and averaged 23 with JB and Hoyerable. He might be a great HC in the making, I just don’t see that what he’s shown so far is overly impressive. Like I’ve said man. This team starts throwing up 30+ ppg, I’ll change my mind quickly. I thought Frank was too soft was my main issue with him.
  20. Yep. According to PFf this is easily his best year ever so far. That’s about as surprising a Colts development that I’ve seen since the ole Luck retirement.
  21. They are having about the same time that had last year at 1-5 and 3-8. After that they went 4-2, then traded their stud WR and a treasure trove of picks to get Young who doesn’t look good at all. Like At all. Maybe it’s Frank not developing him, but it might be Young nit being good too. But what he’s doing this year is irrelevant to the topic IMO. If Young is a bust that org is in a similar boat as Denver and the Bears are going to get a lot of very high picks the next 3 years.
  22. I think using Reichs ppg this year is not a good comparison because it’s totally different and the QB looks like he’s in over his head right now. reich had a good record here and his offenses were good. I don’t understand the SS is better thing. He’s got a worse record. This team may develop or it might fall flat. AR might develop or he might hamstring the club for a while. Reich had the same record last year BTW before he was forced to start Slinging Sammy as Steichen has this year. Before yesterday’s game we were averaging 21 ppg, correction 23 ppg. Now if we start throwing 35 a game around for the next few weeks, I’d change my mind too. I don’t dislike SS but I don’t think there is any clear evidence that he’s better than FR yet. And our D was really good in the 3 wins holding teams to 18 ppg. The o wasn’t great in any of those contests.
  23. Just to clarify, I’m not out on AR. It didn’t read they way I meant it. What I mean is I haven’t seen anything that makes me believe he’s like our for sure thing guy. There are plenty of things that make it look like he could develop, but plenty of others that don’t IMO. I don’t judge college talent but Williams is pretty highly regarded. If we were in a position to draft him I think I would go with him and trade AR who would bring I think multiple picks. He is just a very in accurate thrower of the FB. Williams has a lot of polish and looks like a great prospect. But you could keep both. I’m not convinced that the rushing of QBs getting right in is always the best method. You could keep both, see what you thought in practice and wait a year before deciding what to do. I think we’d make out like bandits in that scenario.
  24. I will say this about Steichan though, we start putting up 30-40 pts. every week, I'll become a quick believer. This game was strange from beginning to end. Many of the plays we made seemed to be blown assignments. This D was so impressive and was just embarrased Sunday with an all time type of perfomance by Garret. I remember Downs being wide open in the zone defense a few times, including the first TD which was a blown coverage for sure. Like not he got separation wide open, like there wasn't anyone to separate from wide open. The Pittman TD was just really bad physical D. Good play for Pitt, but he shook off his traling DB and the middle of the field looked crowded but somehow he got out of there and got the long TD. The Browns have to make a tackle there and Pittman did well but it was more bad tackling than what he did. But we ran well and Minshew picked people out and ran well too. Very impressive offense outside the turnovers. We were pretty unlucky going 0-3 on those fumble recoverie too.
