  1. My first thought is I see the FO doubling down on the WR position in the draft. In the past when they’ve had a position of need they’ve ‘seemed’ to draft two from that position group. Having said that I’ll wait until free agency to start discussing possible names at any position. I will say this, Alec Pierce will have a better season with AR5’s arm strength than he had with Gardner. I also hope they DON’T tag Pittman. I’m hoping they can sign him for less than 20mil a year!
  2. I believe he does have a stronger sense of accountability than Frank as evidenced in the release of Leonard - but it wasn’t like he could cut everyone or else we’d have nobody to line up on D….lol I would bet year two that is a point of emphasis from the top down.
  3. While a few fresh coaches would be nice, as they bring new ideas and a new voice - the good coaches from that staff will get promoted and/or end up with the Chargers. As far as the tackling goes - that is a choice, not scheme based. Just like the Military there are guys that will run towards to fire and those that will not. Seems like some of the accountability left when Eberflus did….. I could be wrong but my eyes tell me otherwise.
  4. Only way(s) it could happen is if the Colts release him for a lateral move (not gonna happen); A trade of players or picks for him (highly unlikely); or they add assistant head coach or something similar to his title AND the Colts still have to give permission for all three to happen.
  5. And I bet you said he was a “camp body” when he did sign him from the Raiders……lol
  6. The same Jerry Hughes that was drafted by Bill Polian that Ryan Grigson traded to the Bills for Kelvin Sheppard? That one?
  7. Is this rhetorical or a real question? Franchises that are good for a decade or longer come down to two common denominators: great coach great qb
  8. I read a bunch of whiners in here and the post game thread so figured it applied
  9. Real talk here…….if the play worked you would be calling Steichen a genius. But it didn’t and now you feel the need to second guess him to death. Shame on you…..
  10. Flowers (prior to injury), Brents and Jones have all shown good, bad and indifferent skills - mostly good They have grown their IQ this year so far and have all shown a willingness to tackle. Moore, if re-signed would give us 4 quality corners to run out there. As far as scheme and bringing in a new D-coordinator, who knows at this point, but they all have shown the ability to play zone and man so either way I think we are solid in that department moving into next year! For the OP @twfish who do you suggest they bring in that plays more man, or blitzes more? It has to be a 4-3 defensive scheme as Ballard would never switch to a 3-4 (plus it would take a couple years to revamp the front 7 personnel).
  11. Peyton had the threat of Harrison, Wayne and a decent collection of slot receivers like Collie, Gonzalez, Stokely, Walters and a pretty good tight end in Clark that made that stretch play and play action click.
  12. I was booked and had fingerprints for a domestic by the police until they found no physical evidence and she just lied because she was bitter - there was no fight verbally or physically, she just called 9-11 So, I will withhold judgement until it is official.
  13. Of course, he blasts the Colts. He CLEARLY did not play anywhere near the level he previously has. He CLEARLY was running around blocks. He CLEARLY made 90% of his tackles downfield. He CLEARLY did not cause any turnovers. He CLEARLY was being outplayed by Speed and Zaire - and in a short period of time even by Ronnie Harrison. He CLEARLY made his thoughts public many times prior to being released. He CLEARLY was not the team captain and teammate he once was - adversity typically brings out people's true colors. He CLEARLY was being paid too much for the production he was showing. He CLEARLY is only playing in Philly because the normal starters are hurt. He Clearly was not viewed as a sure-fire difference maker as nobody scooped him up immediately upon his release. He CLEARLY is bitter that he was cut. He CLEARLY is in his feelings as I'm sure we all would be if we were cut, however, he has not taken the high road and just accepted it for what it was - instead choosing to air his dirty laundry on social media (again). Having injured my back (from being tossed out of a helicopter) and understanding that the injury 'started' there for me but did not really worsen until a bit later in life I can understand both sides of the coin when it comes to the timing of his original back injury in week 14 of 2020. He signed his extension in the preseason of 2021 and played every game in 2021 and going to the Pro Bowl (again). It wasn't until 2022 when he completely fell apart. And was a shell of his former self in 2023 prior to his release. The NFL is a business, and the new HC has nothing tying him to that player and contract, so away he went. I wish him the best as a fan, but I think he is simply another great player with a short career based on injuries. It happens.
  14. The same 'fans' in here bashing Freeland were the same ones bashing Raimann last year. Freeland is learning on the fly just like Raimann last year and will be just fine with some more strength and conditioning work. Witt, cut from the same cloth as Raimann and Freeland has been sitting on the IR all year for his redshirt season doing the same - strength and conditioning, practice reps and film work. The starting 5 are fine, injuries aside, and the line is a top 5 line in the league and will likely stay that way. Depth is needed on the interior.
  15. I remember a lot of friends talking bad about him but if we're being honest I am usually just watching the game to chill with the boys and drink..........didn't much care about the outcome. When in Rome......
  16. Effort and attitude often reflect leadership (or lack thereof). 24 years in the military proved that to be true over and over with Soldiers. Under good leadership even the quirkiest of Soldiers thrived. Under * poor leadership they pull away and "shrink" in the moment. Human nature that when you don't feel the love you do what you can to leave that situation. And when you go to criticize this post, remember that you have civilian jobs that you had poor leadership at, and you likely 'quit' too and moved on to 'greener' pastures. Otherwise, if you want to debate the issue then bring it on! This guy has shown great effort and ability to clog up lanes in the past - I would take him over Taven Bryan every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
  17. I will come eat my crow as I said we would win 3 more games the rest of the year with him starting. It isn't always pretty and we don't light up the airways with him under center, but, he has led the team to a few more wins than I originally thought. I will never say he's a legit starter though. But a pretty darned good backup he is!
  18. Goodson ran hard and fast at Iowa (unfortunately where I reside now) and I always thought he'd be a good third down, change of pace back in the NFL. GB signed and released him last year and pretty sure the coaches saw those abilities in him and snapped him up. We have a very good running back problem with depth at this point. Not even counting Evan Hull at this point.
  19. Same people complained when Autry signed as a FA with us - camp body with no production. Then the same people complained when we didn’t re-sign him. They’re the same people who complained about the Ebukam signing. Can’t have it both ways. Those fans crack me up……
  20. Nelson, Smith, Fries, Pinter to a degree, Raimann and now Freeland have been pretty solid draft picks of this FO. Still funny how the FO gets so much hate…..
  21. I have always supported Ballard and his roster construction. His reputation as a talent evaluator sunk because the coach on the ground, aka Frank Reich - who, unfairly or not has already been canned less than a year from hire with the Panthers. So his roster building is now on full display again because the coach knows how to use the personnel provided. Look at the roster and the amount of low draft picks and UDFA’s that are prominent contributors. Look at the diversity of the WRs - Pittman the bully, Downs the technician, Pierce the deep threat. The OLine (except Kelly) are all drafted by this FO. The young DB’s are performing and growing right now. Paye, Dayo, Tomi are all blossoming. The Buckner trade was genius. Ebukam is earning every bit of his salary as a free agent. A lot of his moves are second guessed all the time but they’re paying off.
  22. Or, perhaps the QB actually throws the ball downfield to him when and where he’s running open…….?
