I fully expect the Colts to continue to try to win games.  I also expect that they will not make the playoffs despite that.  Despite their best efforts...just too many injuries on the offense to overcome.  I also expect that I will console myself by the improved draft positioning that will result from that. So I’m pretty much emotionally insulated in regards to this team for this season.

I cant argue against any of that.  I just grow weary of "tank talk".  After Sunday I dont expect a post season this year either.  "Despite their best efforts" is a great way to say it.

I don't think the season is over.  Especially if we can pull this game out.

Thank you.  All this "pack it in for draft position" talk drives me crazy.  It's so soft (in many cases from the same people complaining about player availability due to injury) .

There are still 5 games left, play out the string with the guys you have,  go all out,  finish strong even if you lose.  You leave with your head up and relish the pain.

In the gym my last thought, no matter how pedestrian that days workout has been, is always "finish strong'.  Past is past, but set a tone, present and future.  You dont just tap out and hope next time a new dude shows up and makes it easier.

When you're beat to s#*t you find a little more.  Thats where the 1% better is, that's where the "character" is.  Both things this franchise and fanbase claim to value,  and most of what I've been seeing lately (after a 3 point loss on the road to the division leader) is "shut it down"?  I cant agree.

Once you tank, in the back of your mind,  you're always looking for an out.  You're always willing to take a dive.  I dont want that for my Colts.

    move on to who?

Ballard has a list, if Jacoby finishes on top of it they move on to no one.  (Granted Reich wasnt on his list and hes our HC, but im sure he has a list)

Ballard isn't a man without a plan.  Neither him nor Reich will hold to mediocre.  Out here in fan land we have no choice but to watch it play out.  Then we can debate the merits of said plan/move.

They'll never publicly announce, or even say, anything to diminish Jacoby's confidence or value.

I doubt, barring injury, he gets benched even if the playoffs are out of reach.   Hes been pretty good at times this year and I'm sure his growth/evaluation wont be done til the offseason.

The move on to who will become self evident if or when, they move on.  My guess is that Jacoby is under center in 2020 (and I'm ok with that as I assume there will be a leap in performance his second year running this offense).  If he falters there we'll se a #2/developmental QB get a shot. I do think Brisett gets a second year though.

The week to week rollercoaster out here is not indicative of how it will be handled in the building.  We're in pretty good hands.

He will probably come out and have a career game against the titans. Lol. That always happens when you think things are so bad. I think it was Dungy that said your never as bad as your last game or as good as your last game. I bet this is all a over reaction to last week. After Sunday we will be sayin dang he was good lol. He did have 3 TD against the titans last time I believe.

Had plenty against Houston last time too.  I just don't know what to expect anymore.  Except: O line good, reich is better than hes looked this month, and defense not too shabby.

  5. I know we're all living in the now, seeing what we believe to be an average QB regressing week to week.

But it is possible that Reich and company know what their doing and are breaking Jacoby's game down so the can build it back up into something that fits this scheme.

That said Jacoby might just be out over his skis on this offense.  Truth is we wont know til they make a move or dont.

Ballard and Reich didnt come here to make this a mediocre club.  If Jacobys not the guy they'll let us know sooner rather than later I think.

I've been a big supporter of Brissett and I'd like to believe we'll see some improvement and maybe a little more risk now that the playoffs are unlikely.  Imo he needs a 4 int game to get over some of the hesitation/fear he seems to be gripped by.  A 4 td 0 int game would also be acceptable.......

Come out throwing one more time this year, and let him sink or swim.  Either way it'll be good for him.

    Praying for you buddy...i promise.

Thanks, it honestly does mean alot to me. I only mentioned it this time as a matter of perspective.

We (myself included) get so caught up in this fantasy for a few months a year that we sometimes forget how little it actually changes anything in our own lives or the lives of those around us.  We've all got something greater to contend with, I'm not unique in that.

I'll be in a room tomorrow morning with 50 other people suffering, alot worse than I am, and a colts win doesnt erase that for them.

We're lucky to live lives that can support the luxury of "fandom".  I have to remind myself of that far too often for my own liking.  Im getting better at it tho, perspective helps.

Thanks again for the support hope you and yours have a great holiday season.  My three favorites start this Thursday!

  7. Game was one blown coverage and one TY drop (and an ebron route?) away.   It was disappointing but hardly shocking, or an embarrassment.

Lost on the road, on a short week to the best (2nd best?)  team in the division, which splits the series.......this team plays tight games,  cant always win those.  Sorry, it happens.

I actually think they're overachieving rather than under.

You are 100% correct about that.

Hang in there.  Really hope you can beat the odds.  If the courage you displayed on here by sharing your situation is any indication, I’m betting on you!

Thanks, that means the world to me, but the fix is in.  Its gonna take me out sooner rather than later.   I'll damn sure give it a black eye on the way down though.  I'm determined to do that much at least!

Here's the secret tho...... cancer cannot win.  Either through medical means or through death of the host, those of us that have it WILL BE RID of it.

Mine will kill me but the victory belongs to me.  In few short years I'll be free.

All I have to do is endure.  Endurance has always been the cost of freedom,  it's a heavy, painful, humiliating price, but it's one I'll gladly pay.

Head up, eyes clear, and so grateful for what I've been given. (even when we lose by 3 on the road, on a short week to a division rival, lol).

Quite simply, because we cannot pass.

I'm sorry to hear that.  Prayers for you my friend.

No worries, and I'll definitely take the prayers.  Thanks, but I have about 3 seasons left.

Just offering it as an example of how our lives dont change because dudes wearing our favorite laundry dont score more points than dudes wearing hated laundry.

Single parents still gotta go to work, autistic kids still struggle at school, I know a bunch of people who have chemo monday.......  Pick any one, hell pick three, mix and match if you like.  This football S#*% isnt real. We should try (and I'm admittedly terrible at it too) to keep it in petspective.

Lost on the road by three NBD.

  10. Lost by 3 on the road to a division rival, split the series, pretty normal in the NFL.  It happens, not like the sun exploded.

If it costs the playoffs, well we shoulda beat the raiders, fins, and Steelers.

Still have tenn next week and one more tilt with the jags.

I expected much more tonight outta the passing game. ty must have borrowed Ebron's gloves or something.  That drop on 3rd was abyssmal.

The blown coverage on their BEST player was the difference tonight.  One play, it happens........

I'm upset, but whatever.  I still wake up with stage 4

    cancer.......perspective people.

At this point it’s probably time to just admit that it isn’t capable. Brissett is not a QB capable of doing that. He can move the ball down the field at times, but he can’t shoulder a game, take it over, and will us to touchdowns. It doesn’t matter what happens in the secondary, Brissett will never see it. He reads his intended target and everyone else is just wasting time out there.

Not that they can really prey on a secondary anyways...

I think it's still to early to give up on him.  This is his second year in the system and his first actually orchestrating it.  He been pretty solid.  Room to grow, but solid.

Yeah, I’m excited to but unfortunately I don’t think we will win

I hear you, it's a coin flip.  I'm feeling ok about it though.

I've been wrong in the past (so often) but despite "playing down to our competition" we've been solid in our divisional games this year, undefeated in fact.  Seems like they get up for these.  Frank will have them ready.

Wish it was at LOS, but we've performed well in Houston in the past and I think TY will play, you just put him in a uni and we're already in their head.

Both teams are beat up so that's a wash.  Both on a short week so that's a wash.

From a colts perspective,  I think this is Jacobys coming out party.  We want national attention for obi-wan jacoby, this is his chance.  They're gonna try to make him beat them thru the air and I know he can.  Unlike last time most of the country is gonna be watching.  Say what you want about Brissett but he doesnt shrink under the big lights.

Plus our d has been sneaky solid for awhile now......gonna be close but I like our chances..........

So you troll the fans who are positive about JB and then put this up? :troll:

    How sweet of you.

It was the biggest "I'm obviously joking" sign I could find on short notice.  Yet, here you are again, quoting only a portion of the post.

Once again leaving out the portion where I'm very positive about Jacoby, and his role in the upcoming Thursday night tilt vs the Texans.

I'm not sure if it's to support some odd agenda (?) Or to create some sort of artificial controversy (?)  Either way I guess it's fine.  You seem to be having a good time and I'm all for that.  I just wanted to find out if what I thought I was seeing was accurate.

I'm not sure "why" you do what you do but it's helpful, for future reference, to understand "what" it is that you do.

Fingers crossed for a big win on Thursday, I know we can agree on that!

  14. I'd probably rate it a 4.4.  Jacoby's pocket awareness and elite footwork is what really made that block!  Remember, Quentin's blocks will only block as far as Jacoby's block will block them.....:troll:.

Sorry been reading way too much of the hyper aggressive, and mostly asinine,  "Jacoby performace merge thread."

    Obviously, that was dope!

OFF TOPIC:  This team is on the right path, and just in case the humorless "admit hes elite" crowd is watching, I think Brisett is a huge part of it.

That first Texans game was Obi-wan's signature win.  Im looking forward to a repeat performance on their turf Thurs.  Houston is gonna make us win thru the air again.  And although our pass pro has been suspect lately I believe Jacoby is up to the task.

    +/- 300 passing yrds, 3 TDs.  (0 int, 1 forced fumble).

Very excited, possibly to the point of homer-ism, for TNF!  This is the biggest (pre playoff) GOTY.

  15. This year is the definition of "next man up".  From starting QB on down.  We've had a couple bad losses recently, but most games have been competitive (to put it lightly) and yet today we were dominant.

Speaks to a strong foundation.  I love what we're building.  The more adversity the more we see what our staff is made of.

Thursday will be an interesting contest.

I'm almost glad it didn't count because that was keg stand was brutally ugly, haha.

Has to work on his run technique.  If there is no hole then make a hole!  Get the weight moving and hurt anyone in front of you - even if it's your own man.  Crossing the line is all that matters, lol.

Hes just better off blocking.  That's what we drafted him for.  Creative play calling is one thing, cutesy playcalling is another.

  17. Question is how do we get this production consistently?  I know it's the jags but today was a dominant performance.  Coincedentally we need another one in like 4 days....

Today was nice tho,  felt like a reset, I get right game after the disappointments of recent weeks.

Neither. Perhaps a bit older (late 50s-early 60s) but didn’t seem to have any issue getting up for restroom/concessions.

Not that everyone I’ve encountered is like that but I have felt in general it’s a way more conservative/docile crowd then what I’m used to back home.

You're not wrong,  last time I was there it was a pretty lively crowd.  It was a couple years ago tho.  I think alot of the air went out of the balloon this year.......When luck retired I mean.

That said, if your legs work you should be standing on third down, lol.
