    From Peter King:

In Detroit, I hear Pats defensive coordinator Matt Patricia is the choice over Houston’s defensive boss, Mike Vrabel—but Patricia favors the Giants. If the Giants give the nod to Patricia, Detroit could be Vrabel’s job.

Interesting bit of info. We still should have a chance at Wilks unless Arizona gets him. And Vrabel to the Lions is...interesting.

All this is almost saying: McDaniels is the new Colts HC...

4 per season doesn't seem like that much to me considering how big his workload was in that offense

gore had 4,5 in his four first NFL seasons and gonna be a HoF, it's not that bad

If Pagano starts Tolzien & we look terrible again, that will be his last game as Colts HC...

So, he'll definitely be starting Brissett.

i concour, i don't think that Chuck gonna put his on the line (most than it is) to start with Tolzien knowing that he can be a disaster again

I heard this as well on Mike Fransesa's radio show on the Fan yesterday. They actually mentioned the 49ers as a possible landing spot

Getting out of the Colts because they're in rebuilt, to go to the 49ers to rebuild, i see the logic...

I thought our run game as a whole looked pretty good considering the Rams didn't really have to worry about our pass attack.

Gore was solid averaging 4.2 ypc and line opened up some nice holes. I thought Mack showed glimpses but I also think the blocking didn't do too well when he got his carries.

Adding the fact that they weren't that worried with the passing game, they were "one sided defense", when luck gets back (or even while brissett plays), the other teams must be worried about the passing game and we can get even better with the running

  6. I see like almost a good thing to Luck being out this 1-3 weeks, yeah, he can comeback without that game speed, he must get used to play a game again, but the bright side for me is that the OL have 3 games, and 3 weeks of training to get fixed (at least better) to Luck's return, and probably is going to return with Kelly avaliable, ofc i wanted Luck playing 16 games, but we can take this

I think it's time for the moderators to start screening these new users a little more.

I am okay with not allowing users to post new threads until they have replied to 500 or 1,000 threads.

@Superman Can we make a little dumpster section to send these types of threads?

It's hard to say if this solve the problem, or just hide some new member, i wanted to make a new thread about ballard's offseason, i left this reply in a post, and nobody even saw because the thread went to the limbo.

  8. [Sorry if i make some gramatical error, i'm from Brazil, so, english is not my native language.]

I'll try to say somethings that i was thinking about the rosters moves from Ballard since i got into this forum.

Since he got to the Colts facility as a GM, the word that he's saying 24/7 is "competion" (i almost hear his voice when i read this word anywhere).

He brought the competition? Yes, for sure, some members here said things like "who cares about OTA?!", he cares, this is a competion, everything matters,
if you're competing equaly with someone for something, everything matters.

Gonna try to point some rosters moves that i think that's going to endorse my point of view that he made a A+ offseason.

1)Jeff Locke - Rigoberto Sanchez: I remember when Colts signed him, he was the first Ballard sign, it was a very good aquisition, McAfee had his early (and understandable) retiring, and we got a very good punter right away, i remember watching the highlights, thinking that he could be the future of the Colts punting, but, Rigoberto had a very good preseason, very similar to Locke, but, why the Colts released Locke? Rigoberto is a rookie, Locke is has 4 yr on the league, Rigoberto used to be a Kicker too, we all love Vinatieri, but he's getting old (as harder as it seems), he can be converted to an kicker (and learning with the best), or can Punt to the rest of his career, in both cases, the Colts just have to worry about 1 draft pick, instead of 2, it was a wise move.

2)Malik Hooker: It was mostly a steal, i know, but some GM have a problem, they keep a name in their had, no matter what, the draft is/was fluid, some names that they were look for was getting picked, and some was still avaliable on the draft, but the opportunity to get a Ball-Hawk appeared, he had just one year at the College playing as a Safety, people try to make it like a bad thing, i see as a good thing, he has instintics, this you can't teach, you can teach tackle, you can teach how to grab a ball, but instintics are natural.

3)The Draft: The draft was about the defense (for obvious reasons), the team still have some issues with the o-line, but i think that if we draft again this part of the team, it would say to the guys that were drafted that they were useless, and we can see that we're "a click away" to get the o-line "fixed", we can see that it getting better, some injures are holding down, but it's visible that's going to happen soon. Quincy Wilson had a terrific play at Dallas, i know that we can't judge a player by one play, but you can see talent in one play, and that kid have it, Nate Hairston it's a very good hitter, this defense need this, need to make people think twice before challenging the player for a tackle, you could see the others team offense playing without fear when they face the previous colts defense. I got sad with the Banner realease as everyone, he's a great kid, but, it's business, and the injuries just teared the roster appart, some players had to pay the price, Banner unfortunately was one of them. The 2nd steal it was drafting Marlon Mack, Gore as Vinatieri is in a eminence of retirement, this team need a new franchise HB, and a guy to get long runs, and Mack looks like perfect to this job.

4)Colts got bigger, and got young: It's a tough thing to me to argument about this because we use different kind of mesure here, so, when i want to know the weight or the hight of any player i have to make conversions, but it's clear visually for me, that the players are biggers and tallers, it doesn't look like a big thing to look at first, but when you make a little research, you know that it makes sense, Randy Moss is tall, A. J. Green is tall, Calvin Johnson (needless to say). We're not tanking, but the young on the defense show that we have a plan to the future, they rather win 2-3 superbowls in the next 2 years, than try the all win now, with young guys the team can develop an "mindset", can develop a way to play the game, and our second best player is defense player.

5)Johnathan Hankins: This topic is chained to the last one, this kid is good, he's young, 25yr/old, and have the Ohio State mindset (Hooker and Simon on the defense too), one of the biggest deficit of the Colts was stopping the Running game, Hankins is a probowl DT, and we can have him for a while due to his age, we had a big problem, and solved with one of the best of the league.

6)Defense "improved": We're talking about the preseason, all that i'm saying here can be demolished if they don't play well, but, it's a predict, the defense was the problem, the defensive side of the ball is almost a new team, gonna work? Hard to say, but we have some nice names, Simon already showed that what he can do, Bostic is a hard hitter, i like more the Kuechly style, but Lewis it's a exemple that a High and "heavy" guy can be very good on the field, sometimes the team simply don't fit together, if that happen, it's above the GM powers.

7)Dorsett - Brissett: At first I had the same reaction that almost everybody had like "IS BALLARD OUT OF HIS MIND?!" and things like that, but, you see, when you coal your head, you see the things clearly, and that's what this team need, clear decisions, and that's what happened, Dorsett can be a probowler soon? Yes, he can, he's fast, he has some good routes, but he doesn't fit on the team, he was about to get cut, we wouldn't get anything of this but got a very good 2nd year backup, with a rookie contract in the hands, and with a play style a little similar to Luck, so, it's easy to learne and play with the playbook, and to this, and future Offensive Cordinators, gonna be easier to design the playbook.

This are some notes that i took about the preseason moves from him, offcourse, as i said, everything can be demolished with some injuries (it's already happening) but at the big picture, i think that his job on the preseason was a A+, today the "preseason" is over, tomorrow we already have a game happening, so i waited to the limit to post this.
