Regardless of what you might like or dislike about Jacoby, When the team loses it's starting QB no matter who he is, It's going to likely effect the whole team's from a buy in leadership perspective. When Peyton was out we sucked as a team, same with Luck, And not with just us but the same with all the other NFL teams that went through it. In todays NFL, very few teams have very good back up QB's. Years ago you had more of a luxury to have a quality back up, but , it's hard to have a quality back up anymore. Jacoby can only do his job. what the coaching staff decides as the game goes on is not up to him. And he has no control over missed extra points or missed field goal attempts.

There is no one out there, via FA or the upcoming draft, that I would give up more years that I can see right now over a healthy Jacoby that knows the current system. When the time comes, It will be right, but not out desperation. I would rather try to progress, for now, than take a back step for a few years waiting for the perfect QB to develop.

We will move forward with Jacoby, but without him , very doubtful. that is the nature of the beast.

Don't want to be a doubting Tomas , But reality is a Strang factor.
-
We had the luxury of a franchise QB for 2 decades, that being said can we win without one? The Eagles showed us that , but that is under the perfect conditions Other wise we are just treading water for the time being , hoping for a miracle.
-
When Jacoby comes back we will be back to being competitive, but until then, we will regress.
-
I can understand settling for inferior back up QBs if you have a franchise QB, Peyton did it all the time with Sorgi, but he was a iron man through most of his carrier. but to have a good but not franchise type QB the second guy up is crucial. We have no back up that can take the team forward unfortunately.

We would be 7-2 with him and this discussion would be comical. OK I guess we will find out what he does against the Jags, Texans, and Titans because we have to win them all now.
Don't think so, we still would be an average team trying to over achieve.

Jacoby Brissett, he may be ok. Not sure.
I like what Jacoby has done for the Colts, My biggest pet peeve on him is not consistently being able to stretch the field, when needed. I'm not putting all of the blame on just the receiving core.

Don't know, if there is really a savior in next year's draft, but we do need a franchise QB eventually, for the long term.
-
I think that we have made great strides for our over all team, but without a franchise general
that can run the offense, stretch the field as a threat also, we at best can just be competitive, if everything else is working
-
The elephant in the room is Jacoby as well as plays to his strengths, just gets us competitive .
he is not a long term answer. His biggest gleaming inability, is he is not consistent at stretching the field. when he goes down the offense is stagnant and it makes us less than average. I know we have to deal with the cards that we are dealt but we really do need to search in the future for a long term QB that is our franchise one.

The reality of it all is, at best without a long term Franchise QB, Coby if he stays healthy can make us very competitive. To make this engine go we need all aspects of our team offense and defense to run like a well oiled machine , as you saw in the Chiefs game. The only knock on Coby is he doesn't stretch the field as much as a healthy Luck would have done, but he does great in other areas. This game against the Dolphins, I feared , but hoped would not happen, but it did. With Hoyer starting, I thought that Miami would defense the run, and short passes and disregard the long ball threat. It was easy to stop our offense then. Make Hoyer throw, with pressure to beat them.

If you followed any of the red zone play this past weekend, there were a lot of missed field goals and extra points across the board in match ups. We are so use to seeing "Mr. Automatic" that it had become an after thought. I believe he will finish this year out and retire.

Hey I say go back as far as Weeb Ewbank (Coached the Colts to 2 straight championships in 1958 & 1959) and throw in Don Shula (even though he lost to Ewbank, and the Jets in SB 3.
-
Match ups, match ups, match ups, You can't just assume any team in the NFL is a sure win. Just like, I'm sure NFL fans didn't think we had much of a chance beating the Chiefs.

Obviously, He came through, when the running game was held in check, more or less. So he answered a lot of questions about not having a 300 yard passing game. I thought the defense came through, when they needed to, And the coaching strategy, of taking what the defense of Houston was giving them on offense played out well. I knew that the Texans would make a push at the end, and it was a total team effort on both sides of the ball.

Maybe the post should have been " How does Frank Rank with the top "10" Coaches the Colts have had so far?"

Art Schichter, Drafted 4th in the 1982 draft, by the Colts, over the likes of Jim McMahon, Marcus Allen, among others, (even Andrew Luck's dad Oliver Luck) Currently still serving a ten year jail sentence from 2011, If you look at his gambling, fraud, and bad check writing rap sheet, and being in and out of jail his whole life, It would make Pete Rose look like a choir boy, So much for character studies before the draft. His bio is colorful reading to say the least.

He did have a 20 yard. run called back on another bogus holding call. That said they were ready for him and I thought our use of him running the ball became predictable.
Different teams create different strategy &play calling .

In your opinion. Perhaps we have different opinions of what a franchise QB is.
Oh please don't go there , I'm sure your perspicacity and analytical prow less knows the difference from past definitions of what we deem franchise QB's of the past. We only hope that non projected ones like Kurt Warner, Brady, ect.. and even Jacoby can become one , under the right system.

Meh
Hey give him a break ,As long as he was productive. Naturally he would continue to kick year after year . so this was his wake up call to retire, It happens . If only this would happen to Tom Brady, then the world as we know it would be back in it's proper alignment. LoL.

He can't retire without getting properly booo'd at home... Lol
Adam with his resume., would only get booed my total *s, that should not be considered Colt's fans unless they have a limited Perspicacity!

Hey if you have followed Adams carrier through the years , this stuff, does not happen to him! Look at his statistics. This is not what Adam does , Ever! This just means to me that Adam is slipping badly. Maybe if it was another kicker in his prime, it would not be a worry for concern.
But to Adam, it's not like him, And that is a "Concern".

If it was easy, then everyone would be honored. So if anything, I bet they liked the fact that what they did was special, and it wasn't easily duplicated.
