Leonard hit him in the head. Honestly I was shocked he didn’t get flagged the play before that for hitting the Steelers QB while he was sliding. Still you are 100% right about the second call. I’d say it was the worst call I had seen all year if they hadn’t flagged our linebacker for tackling later in the game.
Agree...Leonard was just tempting the officiating crew there. The hit on Rudolph sliding is something that I have seen called multipiel times.

Pascal is balling today.

If Brissett's mobility is compromised which it probably is, should just roll with Hoyer.
Seems unnecessary to put him back out there...if there's a chance to make it worse. That seems to backfire quite often.
Right now, the PIT defense doesn't appear to have an answer for Reich's play calls. Just let Hoyer run the offense.

Don't disagree that it wasn't perhaps needed, he just got unlucky that the 3rd tackler pulls him down into his path to make it look worse than it really was. Tacky call, but hey ho, don't give the refs chance to throw the flag and all that. They should have blown forward progress well before.
Agree...don't tempt the poor officiating. I thought Leonard did that on the previous play when it looked like he did the ol' "forearm to the head on the sliding QB" move...which I have seen flagged a lot. But it's his play style...he's fast and physical...and sometimes you get whistled.
But that call was actually consistent with the logic on the Watson call last week...because the TE was essentially down and therefore it was late contact/unnecessary roughness/leading with helmet...whatever they actually called.

If you call that getting blasted then I don’t think you’ve ever played a contact sport
He led with his helmet and that's what they called, no?

Ehhhh he didn't really blast him, and the ref doesn't whistle until #53 has already started the tackle. What is meant to do? Stop mid air?
Yeah...but I think there's context...it's the end of the half...and they have basically ended the half by throwing a dump off short to a slow TE at midfield...whose momentum has basically stopped.
Colts got the benefit of that with the Watson TD...and now get the other end.

Lucky they didn't challenge that Samuels run...or the Colts are (somehow) losing right now...despite outplaying PIT.

Hate that about football.. the guy is trying to break tackles and gain yards, he wasn’t down.
He was being held still by 2-3 Colts players and then got blasted. If that was Doyle or Ebron...we would have wanted a flag there as well.
It was just a poor and unnecessary play to make.
-
Leonard was lucky they didn't call it on the last play when he threw Rudolph a forearm after he had already slid.
-
So stupid. Hope they pick it up.
-
Samuels looks like he is running in mud. I would let them check down at will the rest of the game...they won't be able to move the ball.

besides the INT Hoyer looks better out there than JB honestly he's making quick reads and throws.
Do the Colts run many RB wheel routes? Cause that was pretty.

Hoyer getting it done.

Hopefully it's only an MCL. If Nelson fell on my leg...it would split in half.
-
Ironically it was Nelson getting manhandled that got JB hurt.

I have always thought there was a distinction between "best' and "greatest." Tucker is the best...based on talent and stats...but Vinny is the GOAT because of his achievements and longevity.
Much like Rodgers is currently the "best" QB in history IMO...but another QB like Manning or Brady would be the greatest.

Better if TY was 100% healthy and Brissett was out 4 weeks.
Ouch...but who knows. Colts, regardless of QB, have not won a game without Hilton...he is incredibly valuable to this offense.

SF paid a 3 and 4 to get back Sanders and a 5. You call THAT a no-brainer? Seriously? For Chris Ballard?
I think that was an easy “no thanks” for CB.
They got back a 5th...which won’t be very far behind the 4th they gave up. So basically a late 3rd round pick for Sanders. Yep...I would have been all over that. Sanders is a Pro Bowl WR...and would have fit the offense nicely.
The anti-trading draft picks thing on this site is weird to me, NCF...it just is. I am fine with not having the next Basham or Okereke if it gets me an impact player in a year that my team can make some noise. And it’s not like Sanders couldn’t have been extended for a couple years. Savvy route runners have good longevity.
Just a matter of opinion I guess. Ballard has shown a propensity to trade back so I am less hesitant about giving up picks.

That Sanders trade was a no-brainer...no idea if they would have dealt him to IND though.

So that rumor was more true than false

Can he even play? I thought he was on the Exempt list?
No he’s in a standstill with the league

for what it is worth, he wore a boot all week long for several weeks last year and still played on Sunday. My thing with TY is until they rule him out, I'm assuming he's playing. based on history for him alone.
Agree...though I don't know what his history with actually being present at practice has been like. Not being present for two days and hearing things like "not insignificant" are at least somewhat concerning.

Mike Chapell did say he called his sources and said it was nothing. We will find out soon.
I doubt Chappy would be in the know. Ballard runs a very tight ship...and the only chance that rumor is true...is if it had a rare leak. But that leak probably woudn't be anyone that Holder or Chappy or Keefer would know...and probably isn't even a reliable source.
Just one of those things...that is nothing until it's something...but at the same time...Ty isn't practicing.

Doesn't sound good...at least for this week. That rumor about it being long-term has not been debunked, has it?
Officiating

The refs are bad this year...but it's hard to blame them. The Colts are currently top 3 in penalty beneficiary count and yards...so they have definitely benefited from some questionable officiating this year. And until this game, they were bottom 5 in penalties against and penalty yards against. Those things tend to balance out.
