  1. I was fully supporting the getting your guys through the draft but how many times will Ballard talk about being flexible and changing their outlook and approach, but at the end not really doing it.

It is early. We will see what he does and who they have talked to or are targeting. I don't see him not doing anything at all. We will see if there are any splash signings.

    Sorry….   I don’t know what this means?

Just because you don't like the options available doesn't mean there weren't QBs to be had. You had more options than the likes of Jacoby Brisset. There were a lot more options in the offseason/draft than there was a week before the season, and seeing Allen as an option might sting a little more.

At the end if the day Wentz is our guy as of right now. I probably shouldn't have brought it up because really I don't want to rehash old topics that have been beat to death. I should have known better.

    “QBs to be had”??

    — Baker hasn’t  proven anything yet.
    — Darnold has proven he’s not the guy.
    — Rosen has proven he’s not the guy.

Allen has proven he is the real deal.  And it took an historically great jump in Y3 to show it.

Jackson has proven he’s very good, but only a few teams are willing to run the type of offense the Ravens run to showcase the best of him.   So for most teams, he wasn’t an option.  That’s how he fell to the bottom of the first round.

So, basically one out of five.  Two, if you want to count Jackson.   Anyone see the Colts drafting Jackson?   Yeah, me neither.

Yes, I'm reviving an old thread.   It was nice to see most liked the initial signing of Moore.    I half expected to see negative comments.

Oh how most of us ignored this thread back then. 2017 was so long ago!

I'd love to keep Kenny, but I'm starting to think his 2018 was freak peak. After allowing a passer rating of only 73.3 in 2018, it went up to 102.6 in 2019. He ranked #1 in burn rate (elite) in 2018, and dropped to 44th last year. Either 2018 was a blip, or he took a year off after signing that contract lol.

I felt as if the entire defense took a bit of a step back this past year. And honestly, I think it was because we let the likes of Al Woods walk in FA. After seeing the drop off, and then comparing it to when we attained Booger in 2006, it would seem the defensive tackle position is of quite a great importance in the Tampa 2, even with the subtle differences. You need above average play at that spot for the rest of the defense to flow correctly. Ballard has mentioned that positions importance. And for these reasons I have been on the Kinlaw train for the past month.

Me too. But I'd make that trade for Carr. LVR would probably want a 1st plus something else.

Wonder if Tell could play slot corner. He lined up in slot from S a decent amount of time in college, but a little concerned about his physicality. Would likely be great in coverage, but might get dozed when tackling.

I cant see Ballard parting ways with a play maker. There is a shortage of play makers in this league so idk if I could see that, and I really want Carr on this team. I'd rather give up more draft capital than to trade a proven talent.

Maybe, but could also make Carr look like a pro bowler too.

Doubt they double up regardless. That's un-Gruden. They absolutely need a WR, but they also need a slot CB as well as both MIKE and WILL in a big way. If they were trying to attract Brady, they also need iOL too. And DT also needs an upgrade.... Anyway, if I was trying to attract Brady, I'd take a WR and CB with their 2 first round picks, and an OG in the 3rd (they don't have a 2nd).

Since they need a slot CB in a big way, I'd package Kenny Moore in a trade for Carr.

oof. I'd hate to see Kenny go.

Last year Kelly got cut by the Colts, cleared waivers, & then ended up back with the Colts on the practice squad. That sort of thing doesn't just happen with good QBs in a QB driven NFL.

You're ignoring how many times he got into trouble on other teams. Both Frank and Chris has stated this team is his last chance. The narrow sightedness of the anti Kelly camp is a bit uncalled for. I dont want to see Kelly as the franchise QB. I want to see how good he actually is. If he wasnt any good he wouldnt be on the team at all. Give me an actual reason we shouldn't see how good he is beyond because "if he was good he wouldnt have passed waivers". Why is he even on this team? If hes not good? Why?

So Reich didn’t play him when JB was hurt because he wasn’t mature enough? No it’s because he was the backup. The fans will get there wish to see Kelly in Pre-season and that’s about it. If he does well (and I hope he does) then maybe he becomes the 2nd string but I assure you he is not your franchise or starter next year.

I dont think he is going to be starting any time soon, if at all. But Ballard has made it clear that he has to prove himself trustworthy off the field before any significant playing time is permitted. The Colts arent going to just give you the starting job on talent alone, and they have made it abundantly clear that character matters to them above everything else.

Why does everyone immediately assume that Kelly is that answer? He was the 3rd string for a reason. Not sure why his name is brought up so often about a capable QB to replace JB. Coaches are going with the best option which clearly wasn’t him. I don’t get why so many are enamored with him.

People hope he is the answer. And he was also 3rd string because of his lack of maturity not skill or talent. The Colts dont have anyone proven at QB. Why do the naysayers not want to give kelly a chance? It's like because many want to see what hes got it's annoying everyone else. As if there are 100s of options and we are stuck on Kelly. Not even close. There are 3 options on this team, and 2 of them are proven underwhelming. I for one would like to see how the 3rd one is.

I agree.   I don't think people realize how much the "D" suffered from no interior pass rush.  Especially the scheme that was used.

QB and DT are the most important pieces. If the Colts upgrade those two spots, the Colts are contenders. Good thing its that time if year that you add pieces to your team.

  12. Not without a prominent DT. Maybe Harris from the Broncos? Then sign a QB. You're getting a lot of injured WRs back this year. The Colts are 2 players away from being an AFC contender. The Colts have a top 5 running game. This defense will come alive when we get an interior presence. Wrs are inexperienced, but I'll take that any day over a depleted injured wr group. I guess we are going with Mo Ali Cox at TE?... TE is a weakness. But out of the teams in the AFC, yes, I think we are a few players away from being contenders. The AFC doesnt impress me.
