Yeah, I know people are sick of hearing this but it’s true he’s also coming back from a serious injury and a complete return to form will take time.  Also his strengths have always been more hang time and directional punting IE letting the coverage team get down field and make plays.

People are sick of hearing a 100 million dollar player isn't back to form... Don't stretch it to every colts player.

Pierce is the new Granson.    Not liked or appreciated and constantly disrespected by this community.

It astounds me how few posters here know what a good rookie season Pierce had.  He might as well be in the Witness Protection Program.

Last year, Pierce had 41 catches for 594 yards.  A 14.5 average per catch.   Numbers Pittman has never come close to.   And he was a rookie.   This year, he’s getting the red headed step child treatment that Granson got last year and the first 6 months of this of this year.

Pierce should be fine.   Pierce should get better, unless this community thinks Reggie Wayne can’t coach?   It’s a long season and I expect more opportunities for him.

People here have been telling me Pierce had a disappointing training camp.   Except Stephen Holder, who is with the team every day says the opposite.  That he had a good training camp.   Funny how falsehoods get latched on to and become accepted wisdom around here.   Sigh….

You like using the disrespect phrase don't you?

Again, I don’t know how many times I have to say it. I never said by game 5 he needs to be great. I said he needs to START balling. Those were my exact words.  It’s not unrealistic for me to think he should show flashes and signs that he is returning to what he is capable of. Maybe it takes all year to get back to where he was…maybe he never returns. All I know is great players start showing glimpses of that quickly. Even Peyton showed glimpses of it when returning from injury before he was all the way back. Leonard is supposed to be a top player on this team. He can START to show it after a few games to get his bearings and grow from there. It’s not a light switch you flip on but it’s something that builds.  That is how it works

You are right. Tired of Ballard's high pay but low impact always hurt players.... i.e. Darius and Nelson.

  4. Darius is washed. His body is broken down. Unfortunate reality. Colts made a terrible choice to resign him, but who knew he would get paid and then almost immediately become physically clapped out lol.... Bad luck I guess.

Nah. I just have enough sense to realize that a guy who hasn’t played football in close to a year and had multiple surgeries to come back isn’t going to play like his old self in the first game of the season. If you don’t think he’ll improve more and more then you need to visit a neurologist and have your brain checked.

Lord knows I need my brain checked. Your right there. 😄

I am aware that Darius will need time to regain his form, if he can. However, my point still stands. Colts paid him 100 million dollars to play football at a high level. When is he going to do that? If he can't play at a top level for over 50 percent of a contract I am not sure I would call that a good contract for the team. I am unsure why you feel the need to die on a hill for a multi millionaire who doesn't know you exist...but as it currently stands Darius has not lived up to his massive contract and has not been much of a help to the Colts. And I root for the Colts as a whole, not one overpaid washed player.

Not sure if anyone caught this but they said on the broadcast that Shaq wasn’t cleared to start running until June, let alone do football stuff.  Then he had the concussion.  Not really shocking he wasn’t his old self today, that’s going to take time.

Still considering the number of people proclaiming his career was over, or he should be cut, that he would never play another down for the Colts again, or he didn’t have the desire anymore the fact he played today those people need own up and eat crow.  I am normally not a big person for that kind of thing but the amount of hate some fans have thrown at Shaq in the past year has been amazing when all he did was bust his behind to get back out there.

Dude got paid 100 million dollars. For 100 million he needed to produce at top level for most of, if not all, of his contract. He has not. Even if he gets back to his old self, I want to see what percentage of his contract he actually ends up playing. My guess is that with hindsight Darius is going to end up being a bad 100 million contract. I sure am not eating crow now because he hobbled around a few games for 100 million dollars.

Shaq will play game one. He hasn’t missed one practice since the concussion this week.

Being able to limp on the field and physically stand there for game one maybe..... but being the 100 million player the colts paid him to be...those days are long gone.

I find it so funny how everyone is going out of their way to elevate this guy and his play.  Venturi raps up game by saying how impressed he was wtih Richadson. ha  What a joke. You mean the guy who threw a terrible interception and threw a number of balls either too high or off target?  Sorry, just because we spend the number 4 pick on a QB and HOPE he becomes good doesn't make him good.  He is and will always be what she showed in college. Which is he has great athletic skills.  But he makes bad decisions, has terrible ball placement, and is inaccurate.

I have never, ever seen a running QB who played one year of college football, have a losing record, barely completely over 50% of his passes, get into the pros and become a good passing QB.  No Josh Allen didn't play one year of college football. Sorry.  I have been a Colts fan since they were in Baltimore.  I love the Colts.  But I am not going to drink the Kool-Aid and just because the guy was a high pick, cheer about how good he is.  If Sam Ehlinger had that same performance, we would probably say he should be 3rd string.   It was a wasted pick, he is going to be a terrible failure as an ACCURATE, GOOD DECISIONS NFL QB, and I will look back at this 2-3 years from now when they have to clean house as him being what finally took it down.  It is too bad, because I think Ballard is a good GM and I think Steichen could be a good coach.  Gardner Minshew is clearly as better all around NFL QB than Richardson, but Irsay won't allow that to happen.  Sad.

Oh well, Art Schlichter needs company as a bust #1 QB pick for the Colts :)  Richardson will never come close to be anywhere near Jeff George's overall career.

Easy now, they don't like different opinions on this forum.

Come around to the apparent reality of this situation yet Jvan?  Or are still doing the ole positive spin thingy?

Dude... Colts could literally not win a single game in a season and ol' boy would try and spin that hogwash. But get a couple beers in ya after watching the colts get their brakes beat off, and boy is he fun to argue with.

  10. No pressure at all. Gonna be fun to watch honestly. I am excited to see how AR plays, and I am eager to see if the shame of last season and a different style qb gets this oline playing well again. Plus some young wideouts to watch.
