Here is a question someone should post to Peyton.....
Why couldn't Peyton unretire for one day and retire as a Colt? Others have done so. His years and football were mainly played in Indianapolis and I think it is only right that he should retire as a Colt and not a Bronco. Will he enter the HOF as a Colts or Broncos? Montana played for Kansas Chiefs but he made sure he retired as a 49er. Will Peyton want to be remembered with Von Miller or with Marvin Harrison and Edgerrin James?
He can't because Denver owns his rights and will not release him because if they did, he could unretire and play for someone else without Denver getting compensation. It's a business and wouldn't be prudent to trust it not to happen. So he won't do that typical 1 day contract because Denver will ALWAYS own his rights for another year anytime he tries to become active, even if only for a day.
If Peyton asks them to release him I'm sure they would.
He may just wait a couple of years and then ask. -

Its bad enough you didn't sign anyone to fill the huge holes on Defense but instead you let the best LB we had walk out the door.
You signed a backup QB which wasn't a huge priority and ignored everything else.

Somebody needs to go wake up Grigson and let him know Free Agency has begun.
There is no way to fill all the holes just through the draft.
