  1. Yeah, in essence the Texans paid a QB price for that trade up to select a non-QB, because they were supposedly outbidding another team that actually wanted a QB. It's really hard to make the value of that trade good for the Texans. Just non-QBs... even some of the best of them, don't have that value.
  2. Kept their own pick for next year ... and gotten another top player at 12(or maybe even made a small trade up if they liked anyone from the 5-10 range... and gotten another good player at 33 today... and gotten another day 2 player next year.
  3. They could have had their savior at 2 if they believe he's the guy... and then another top player at 12... and then another one at 33 and then their own possible top 5 pick next year to pick the savior of their savior(Marvin Harrison Jr) and then another day 2 player next year.
  4. They don't need to tank in order to be bad. I don't think they will be much better than this year.
  5. He is going to be good, but they gave up quite possibly another top 5 pick in order to get him. And next year's draft is stronger than this years.... no Caleb for them... no Marvin Harrison Jr for them...
  6. BTW.... just how stupid are the Texans? They gave up their own 2024 pick in that trade up to no. 3! + a 2nd+3d!!! I have no idea why some people think this is a good move.
  7. Awesome to see you back SteelCityColt. Hope everything is good with you. So I take it you are excited for the pick? BTW seems like I've used all my reactions for today since I went on a "liking spree" after we picked AR... and now I'm no longer allowed to react to posts
  8. Yeah, the best way I've found to describe him is "personable". Some QBs seem very scripted and over-rehearsed.. and while no doubt he's had some media training, Richardson still lets his personality shine through and still tries to give real answers to most of the questions, rather than prepared PR spin.
  9. We should have taken Jake Haener at 4. He's probably the most accurate QB in this draft.
  10. Did Ballard say that? I think I missed it. BTW, this is another good sign for Richardson if he didn't leak anything. Usually when teams tell the player, everybody gets to know by the time they are picked... and with Richardson noone knew ... Yep... having a double treat QB opens up a ton of possibilities. It just changes the math of the defense completely. Pretty much the whole offense benefits - the RB play against LBs in conflict, the WRs get more one-on-ones, the QB gets more favorable situations in both the run and the pass... Yeah, sorry for poking you and joking with you a bit about the possibility too I wonder if Levis goes ahead of Hooker?
  11. Yeah, Luck was amazing, but it's time for us to move on. Did you snooze your alarm last night? Or did you just decide to take a goodnight sleep instead of torture yourself waking up in middle of the night? For a while it was a true torture I tell you. I didn't think I would mind it that much if we took Levis but just before the draft started all the betting sportsbooks posted insane odds for Levis to go no. 4(-2000) and I was in despair. I guess at least I now know for sure what my feelings would have been if it was going to be Levis...
  12. I might wait for him to get in Colts uniform and for us to have some nice pics of him in it before I change my avatar.
  13. If he grows 20-25 lbs more he might even be OT for Richardson
  14. He can think it's the most important trait... and still think that overall, when you take everything else in addition to accuracy in consideration, he's the best prospect. That's why I don't consider this a lie or misleading... it's just ONE part... even though important of QB play. Otherwise Jake Fromm would be a superstar in the league.
  15. Yeah... it was funny to me watching people trying to make him out some out of touch arrogant * with those out of context quotes... like... he would talk about how he's working towards improving his mechanics and says 'You can't muscle the ball every time" and then a few questions later he'd joke about "they better catch it" and that's the one that makes the cut...
  16. I think the biggest winner on the roster from that pick is Alec Pierce... He better get ready for tons of deep balls...
  17. At least I took it that way. He seemed very personable and genuine in the presser. Here's the presser.
  18. That was said more in a joking manner. At least I took it that way. He was being lighthearted with the media throughout most of the presser.
  19. Here's a question. If you think you have a top TE on the board available to pick... a player who can be our Goedert or Mark Andrews... does it really matter that we have Granson? Like... he's OK, but he's not a player I would allow to dictate to me whether I pick a really talented TE in a really strong TE class. My personal favorite among the TEs is Tucker Kraft out of South Dakota State(Goedert's school)
  20. I'm really excited. AR has been my guy for most of the draft season. Pretty much the moment I started seriously watching tape(instead of just casually watching college games) I couldn't hold my excitement and intrigue with Richardson. He was a total rollercoaster this last season. Nothing in his game was consistent... BUT in his tape you can find everything you want to find in a high level NFL QB. Exceptional traits... One of the few times you can say 'unique' without it being a hyperbole... excellent pocket presence. IMO he's the best in the class in this aspect. He feels pressure well and his movement skills and strength make him incredibly hard to bring down(his pressure to sack ratio is on Patrick Mahomes levels)... his deep ball is beautiful. I think he has elite arm. But he needs to learn to throw with touch, especially in the short range. He shows flashes of some advanced quarterbacking traits too - holding a safety with his eyes, throwing with anticipation, going through progressions... making the right reads even in full field progressions... again... it's inconsistent right now, but IMO he's much more advanced than people give him credit for... making checks and adjustments at the line of scrimmage. Even in his short 13 start career you can cobble together a highlight reel that shows not just exciting throws and runs(and he has a ton of those too - I think he had more 40+ yard runs last year than the Colts had ANY plays for over 40 yards for the whole season), but also true NFL type quarterbacking. One of the things I love the most is that even though he can be an exceptional runner, his natural instincts are to actually make throws from the pocket. He generally sits in the pocket and tries to make the right thing - reading through his progressions and throwing... even when he's pressured he doesn't automatically tuck it and run - he keeps his eyes downfield and still tries to make a throw. An example I'd like to give is - his throw/scramble/sack ratio when pressured is practically identical to that of CJ Stroud and Stroud is considered the quintessential pocket QB of this draft. But when he actually runs... boy oh boy... he's a TD thread any time he decides to leave the pocket. With all that said his footwork and mechanics need improvement because his short area accuracy is atrocious. He NEEDS to get better here... and he needs to learn to throw with some touch from time to time. Overall... I'm super excited. I think this Colts team has been one of the most boring NFL teams in recent years. I think Richardson can singlehandedly change that. He's a TD threat on any snap - be it with his arm or with his legs. Some of the things he does athletically are absurd. Cannot wait for the season to start and hopefully see him in action. By no means is he a sure thing... he's a risky pick and very well might bust... he will need a lot of work to get to a point where he's a good QB in the league, but IMO in a conference with Mahomes, Burrow, Allen, Lamar, Watson, Herbert, Lawrence... now Rodgers... IMO you need a player of that stature in order to compete and Richardson was our best change at getting someone like that. Sorry for the long answer tl;dr: yes, very excited, cannot wait for the season. I think Richardson was our best chance in this draft of getting a high upside QB who can compete with the best in the conference.
  21. Depends on how he progresses with the offense Steichen will be installing for him. I'm happy they didn't put any artificial limits to him playing before he's even gotten in the building. Get him in, lets see how he learns the playbook and how he executes in practice... make a decision after that. If I had to GUESS... if the bye week is before week 8 probably after the bye week... if it's after... probably around week 4-6...
  22. How are you guys feeling about the Vikings pick? Elated? Happy? Happy it's not Levis? Sad?
