@stitchesBtw quick question man, what if I make a pick during the "sleep time". Cause like on weekends i'm usually up like really late at night. So if I make a selection at 3 AM (yes I do that sometimes lol), the next person's time wouldn't start till 8, right?

You can make a pick during the sleep time, then the time on the next pick starts at 8am.

As Dustin said, it may be difficult finding 32 people to do this.  You may want to let people take 2 or 3 teams, or split it up by division so each person is responsible for an entire division.  Also, if this does slow down, don't forget we have the mention feature (use @ and type a username) and that person will get an alert that they were mentioned.  That way, if someone forgets to make their pick, we can remind them.

    I'll take the Ravens, please

Yeah, it might be a bit ambitious, but it's going pretty well so far. When the sign ups slow down, we will give the remaining teams to people who show interest.

  7. Here's the idea - we do (at least) 2 rounds mock draft with wide participation from the board - I wanted to give different teams to different managers so we'd have different perspectives and different evaluations of the talent. In case we don't get enough people, some will get a second team.

    Team assignment:

Teams will be assigned on first-come-first-serve basis. Here's the list and I will add the managers to the list once they've expressed desire to participate in the mock draft and have claimed a team. Please sign up for the unclaimed team of your choice in this thread and state if you'd be up for managing a second team in case we don't get enough people.

    Arizona Cardinals

Rules of drafting: Once you are on the clock you have 12 hours(tentatively) to make a pick. You are strongly encouraged to not take the whole 12 hours so we can move along quickly and be done by the time the real draft starts(in other words, if you are on the clock and you are here and ready with your pick, please post it as quickly as possible and don't wait until the last minute). We have 'sleeping' time between 12am and 8am (EDT) every day where the clock will be frozen to allow people to... well sleep (Example: if a pick is made at 9PM, the manager of the team picking next will have 3 hours until 12am, when the sleeping time starts and will have 9 more hours starting at 8am the next morning before his/her time is up) . If your clock expires we will make an automatic selection of the highest rated available player on the composite board of the fanspeak site. (I will post the board in the selection thread once we start selecting players).

Trades and transactions: You are allowed to make trades with other teams' managers by using only draft picks in this year's draft(2016) and next year's draft(2017). I will make a trade thread to accompany this mock draft so we don't clog the main thread(another separate thread). You can negotiate with other managers through PMs. In order for a trade to be accepted all managers involved in the trade need to confirm the trade in the trade thread. For your convenience, here's the widely accepted trade value chart. If 2 or more managers complain about the value of a trade, a trade will be vetoed, so try to be fair in your dealings.

At the end we might make a poll and take a vote on who did the best for their team. Anyways... please sign up here and claim the team of your choice(please take note if the team is already taken by somebody else) and state whether or not you will be willing to take on a second team in case we don't get enough people.

(Also, I'm not sure if this request is appropriate, but could moderators pin this thread so we can get more participation, thanks)

  8. Based on what I know (!!! very limited knowledge) I'd have more trust in Noah Spence and if what I'm hearing is being confirmed by their personnel investigations, I'd draft him. He seems like a good young man, he seemed genuinely regretful for his mistakes and he's taken serious steps to ensure not only that he doesn't repeat his mistakes but also that his team would feel confident about him and his frame of mind.

I do not feel as confident in Nkemediche's resolve to change his ways. In every interview I've seen of him he seems like a knucklehead, who doesn't inspire any confidence, which is a shame because he can be a beast in the league if he gets his head on straight.

  9. 1 hour ago, Superman said:

I don't like the insistence on drafting certain positions in certain rounds. It's basically needs-based drafting.

That said, #3 is acceptable to me. Rankins, Thompson (a little high, but oh well, I like him), and then any of the rest are decent enough. But if you take Garnett in the third (he might be gone), Ngakoue in the fourth, and Lasco in the fifth (a little high?), you'd have a pretty good draft. Basically a blend of your best players from all three of your options.

I know what you mean when you say it's like it's need based drafting and in a draft-day scenario when it's your time to pick I'm in complete agreement with you that you draft BPA, but this one is meant more as a mock of different possibilities , simply because it's hard to know whether specific players will be there at specific positions we draft at and in order to give different options and see what people favor in those scenarios.

  10. That's my first official mock draft, so be gentle and don't rip me to shreds if I do something stupid. I've done some fanspeak mock drafts but I'm not sure their draft-boards are realistic enough and also, it's weird drafting while knowing the board and in what relative order different prospects will be picked. It's kind of a cheat sheet, like you are looking at a rough copy of other team's big board and knowing relatively well where you can expect certain prospects to be picked. With that said I will give 3 different versions with options(depending on who's there and who's already been picked in the first)
    .

    Version 1(we go pass-rusher in round 1):

    1. Shaq Lawson OLB / Noah Spence OLB / Leonard Floyd OLB(in this order, pick the first available)

    2. Chris Jones DE / Jonathan Bullard DE / Kenny Clark DE / Vernon Butler NT(in this order, pick the first available)

    3. Nick Martin C/ Joshua Garnett G/ Christian Westerman G (in this order, pick the first available)

    4. Sean Davis S / Justin Simmons S/ James Bradberry CB (in this order, pick the first available)

    5. Jonathan Williams RB/ Tyler Irvin RB / Daniel Lasco RB (in this order, pick the first available)

    7. Joe Thuney G/ Austin Blythe C (in this order, pick the first available)

Explanation: We go heavily on D in the first two rounds, even most options in the second round are good interior pass-rushers. In general, this mock is aimed at strengthening the pass-rush, while not ignoring the O-line and getting some good value in the third and taking a swing at another o-lineman in the 7th. The secondary is addressed in the 4th with some options with good physical and athletic attributes that our coaching staff can mold into starters hopefully.

Version 2(we go OL in round 1):

    1. Ryan Kelly C / Cody Whitehair G (in this order, pick the first available)

    2. Jonathan Bullard DE/ Kamalei Correa OLB / Shilique Calhoun OLB (in this order, pick the first available)

    3. Von Bell S / Sean Davis S / Joshua Perry ILB (in this order, pick the first available)

    4. Charles Tapper OLB/ Bronson Kaufusi DE/ Yannick Ngakoue OLB(in this order, pick the first available)

    5. Jonathan Williams RB/ Tyler Irvin RB / Daniel Lasco RB (in this order, pick the first available)

    7. Joe Thuney G/ Austin Blythe C(in this order, pick the first available)

Explanation: We attack the O-line straight on in the first with the best C/G options available. I don't think we are desperate to go with tackle and quite honestly I'm not totally sold on the options that will likely be there so we go with Kelly or Whitehair(I have to admit I don't necessarily believe the value is good here, but that's just another version of the draft, for the people who want to ensure we get the best C/G prospect and don't mind taking him in the first). Either of them becomes instant starter. We add pass-rushing options in the second and the fourth and add a safety/ILB in the third.

    Version 3(we go DT/DE):

    1. Sheldon Rankins DT/ Andrew Billings NT/ Chris Jones DE/ Kenny Clark DE(in this order, pick the first available)

    2. Darian Thompson S

    3. Joshua Perry ILB/ Kentrell Brothers ILB (in this order, pick the first available)

    4. Charles Tapper OLB/ Yannick Ngakoue OLB(in this order, pick the first available)

    5. Sebastian Tretola G/ Max Tuerk C/ Isaac Seumalo C (in this order, pick the first available)

    7. Jakeem Grant WR

Explanation: We upgrade our D-line with a beast in the first to complement Henry Anderson when he comes back.  We get our free safety in Darian Thompson in the second to pair up with Gaethers and add an ILB to our desolate ILB-core. Again we find some good pass-rushing value in the 4th and some non-flashy O-line help in the 5th.

Which one do you like best?

  11. I'm confident they will take BPA(within reason and use positional need as a tie-breaker of very closely rated prospects only, i.e. I don't expect them to take Wentz at 18 even if they think he's worth the pick) and that's really all I can ask for. Great football teams are built by taking the best talent in the draft and accumulating as many impact players as you can at different positions. In the short-term it might create appearance of neglecting needs and loading on already strong positions, but in the long-run you will have much better roster.

Draft BPA, fill holes in FA.

Now the question is whether or not I trust their evaluation of the talent and that's a bit more contentious, but as a whole I'd say I trust their evaluation more than I trust mine, although I'd surely have my disagreements with the draft one way or another.

    Texas A&M
Germain Ifedi, the highest-rated Aggie, will sit on his Combine marks and just participate in position drills. Yesterday, Ifedi met with the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts. After the workout, he will meet with the Cleveland Browns.

    Georgia Southern
Little-mentioned Antonio Glover had a solid pro day at GSU.

The safety measured 6004, 186 pounds, completed 16 reps on the bench, touched 37 inches in the vertical jump and a broad jump of 10-7. His 40 timed in the 4.5s, but the time was adjusted downwards to the 4.42s area as players ran the 40 on a soccer field due to the condition of the football field.

Glover, who has solid game film, met with the Tennessee Titans last night and the Detroit Lions this morning. He's flying to see the Indianapolis Colts on an official "30" visit.

    Utah State
Kyler Fackrell had a very busy day at pro day. He completed 16 reps on the bench, one more than his Combine mark. He then completed both defensive end and linebacker drills.

The New York Jets ran Fackrell through a gauntlet of pass-rushing drills, allowing him to display his ability off the edge out of a three-point stance. Later, both the Jets and Indianapolis Colts pushed Fackrell through linebacker drills. I'm told the position drills lasted 45 minutes, and the Jets seem enamored with Fackrell.

Fackrell weighed in at 245 pounds, looked the part and moved well in drills. He was very good in coverage drills.

    Arkansas State

Tight end Darion Griswold, who participated in the Shrine Game and Senior Bowl, measured 6034, 250 pounds, timed in the high 4.7s/low 4.8s in the 40 and posted a vertical jump of 32 inches.

Griswold met a bit with the Green Bay Packers and also spent significant time with the Indianapolis Colts.

Receiver J.D. McKissic measured 5100, 187 pounds, timed 4.58 in the 40, touched 37 in the vertical jump and 10-2 in the broad jump. He also completed 17 reps on the bench. After a good positional workout, running routes and catching passes, McKissic fielded punts for a while.

It should be noted several people told me the workout surface at Arkansas State was a slow, sticky one.

  14. I took your criteria and cross-referenced it with the list of players we've shown interest in so far (http://www.draftindy.com/?page_id=1051) and here's what I got:

    1. Noah Spence OLB/ Leonard Floyd OLB- pass-rusher

    2. Karl Joseph S / Vonn Bell S / Darian Thompson S- safety with coverage ability to complement Geathers

    3. Braxton Miller WR/ Leonte Carroo WR - cuz... why not? It's a WR, "can never have too many good WRs"

    4. Isaac Seumalo C - here's the C we need

    5. Yannick Ngakoue OLB - another pass-rusher to strenghten an aging/bad pass-rushing core

    7. Marshaun Coprich RB/KR

  15. Lets say Minnesota is hell-bent on taking a WR and the Colts are on the clock at #18 and miraculously all WRs are still on the board. Minnesota decides they want to have their pick of the litter, but they are afraid their favorite will be taken by pick 23. They call Grigson and offer #23(Minnesota's first round pick) and #86(Minnesota's third round pick) to make the move up.

It's hard to list all possible scenarios with available players, so I decided to formulate the question like this - list the players that you like so much that if available at 18 you'd refuse such an offer and you'd just make the pick at 18...

Do you think this scenario is realistic?
