The chargers hired Anthony Lynn and the Broncos hired Vance Joseph there are no HC job open anymore Toub was talked about. I personally don't want a specal teams coordinator as HC I'd prefer a offensive coach this time around.

I was wrong from earlier but he interviewed for both positions. John Harbaugh was a special teams coordinator before the Ravens took a chance on him and look how that turned out.  Dismissing him due to being a special teams coordinator is short sighted in my opinion.

  2. It depends on who is hired for the GM position but if Ballard is hired then keep your eye on Dave Taub.  He is the KC special teams coordinator.  He has worked with Ballard twice in Chicago and KC.  He has also worked with/under John Harbaugh, Andy Reid, Lovie Smith, and then Andy Reid again.  He has a very solid reputation as a candidate that is ready if someone will take a chance on him.

Seems lateral to me. They haven't been much more successful than us since Grigano came around. With a better roster. Not just 2 games. I just prefer the guy coming in to have a ring that's all.

Ok, I can see wanting a proven winner.  I don't view it that way.  The coach's job is to win; the GM's job is to find talent for the coach to win and that is the characteristic that I would be looking for in a new GM.  The ability to find talent.  Ballard just has more of a track record in my opinion of finding talent.

The Seahawks dudes have been to the super bowl twice since 2012. For such a short time frame. That's impressive.

It is impressive but it also just not them doing it.  They don't even have the final say in personnel matters (neither does Ballard).  I put more of the success of the Seahawks on Carroll and Schneider.  Mainly Carroll, he is a great coach which is why I prefer to hire a candidate with multiple stops and successes acquiring talent which is the GM's primary function.

Wait, so they not only got smoked by the chiefs with luck but then you bring up the bears where manning smoked them in the Super Bowl? Lol.

So you are going to make a decision on a GM on two games against the Colts as some sort of vindication that Ballard is not worthy of being a GM.  Again what KC game are you referring to?  The game in his first year taking over for Pioli?  What an asinine concept.

Your razzing me and you don't know the Bears haven't won anything since 85, lol.

I am not razzing you, I just do not agree with you.  You have a very black and white definition of winning anything though.  Super Bowl or nothing?  I recalled incorrectly, it happens.  I thought they won with Rex Grossman but it must have just been the NFC Championship.

My point is why hire a guy from a team you have pretty much owned and done better than, even with Grigson?

In my opinion that is a silly way to hire a GM.  Look at the rosters, who has more talent currently? The Chiefs, Seahawks, Vikings, Colts?  Then look at the track record of the guys and then the league wide reputation.  You are really stretching to judge a front office candidate based upon a teams W-L.

I prefer my candidates to have actually won something  . Chiefs don't impress me much . I'm liking the Seahawks guys because of that and their ability to build a defense.

Fitterer and Kirchner haven't one jack on their "own" though.  You want to include all front office then Ballard won a Super Bowl in Chicago while a member of the Bears organization.

Sorry but need i remind you that luck came back 45 points to beat the chiefs defense lol. I think i prefer a seahawks defense.

Ballard also had a hand in building those great defenses in Chicago with Urlacher and those guys.  Fitterer and Ballard only find the players, it takes the coaches to put them in position to succeed.  Just because you hire Fitterer does not equal the Seattle defense.  I prefer Ballard and Patton because they have contributed in multiple roles for different organizations.  By the way, KC had the seventh best scoring defense this year in the entire NFL, (1.2 points per game behind Seattle).  What game are you referring to? The Colts got smoked by the Chiefs this year.

Fitterer without a doubt. Compare his teams success to the other candidates. Seahawks have been consistent every year since 2012 and the vision of having a defense like the Seahawks would just be scary...plus they would make up for Lucks mistakes. LOL!

Chiefs...eh. Ballard would be a poor mans choice. Chiefs are good but not Super Bowl good. Just enough to make the playoffs good.

The only reason why they are not Super Bowl good is the QB though.  The rest of that team is loaded.  That will not be a problem here.

  11. I voted for Ballard.  I like his long history in two different organizations in multiple roles and still finding players or at least assisting in finding players.  I think that he would build a very strong roster through FA and draft.

I do like Raye's past history with San Diego though.  I would be willing to give him a shot as I think that he can identify talent.

LOL. They're WAY worse than the Colts are. Not only did they flat out suck this year, but they had to vacate the wins from 12-13 seasons. That's not in any way shape or form an upgrade.

They vacated wins due the NCAA being ridiculously biased.  ND self reported, failed the kids that cheated, and suspended all of them while the investigation was happening.  The NCAA still decided to hammer them due to some of the kids that cheated were playing during that time frame.  ND took the absolute correct approach as soon as they were notified of possible infractions and they got hammered.  Meanwhile UNC can have fake courses for athletes and not get in once of trouble, ridiculous.

Finding better more important things to do with your money and time on a Sunday does not make you a fair weather fan or a bad fan. Holier than thou, "real" fans are the absolute worst thing about any fandom.

It doesn't make you a bad fan but that is a pretty good definition of a fair weather fan which is a fan that only watches when the team is good.  For the record, the poster that you quoted was stating that many posters/fans that are complaining about this mediocrity either have not or do not remember worse times.  The Tobin era was much worse.  The Jeff George era was worse.  There was even a time in recent Colts history that both Elway and Dilfer REFUSED to play if drafted by the organization.  I do not think that happens currently.

Kiffin coached for Tampa or Oakland? I heard that Tampa 2 was implemented on both teams so how is that possible? I honestly think everyone is screwing with colts fans, and we're the only ones not laughing or in on the joke.

He didn't run the Tampa 2 in Oakland.

So I see Brad Wells tweeting a whole load of stuff about a Gruden deal (Manning and Gruden willing to work together, Gruden wants 4 years, 4 mill etc.)

Take it for what it"s worth.

4 million a year sounds light doesn't it?  I would think you would at least be talking in th 7-9 mill range.  This leads me to believe that this can't be true.

I love the "he could make it stop with a simple announcement" thought process. It's like one kid saying another kid could have the next turn on his own video game, but the other kid puts him in a headlock and won't let go until the first kid says it is now his turn.

"The first kid could get out of the headlock if he would just say it's the other kid's turn!"

    lmao

This analogy makes no sense.  In this situation who is in the headlock and whose turn is it? Really not following the point you are trying to make.
