- Trade value chart shows that our picks 46 and 15 could get us to pick 7 (assuming TEN would make that trade). Is there a player you would use pick 46 to trade up for? Remember, this is a genuine difference-maker. If its a hit, the pick 46 you give up is peanuts in terms of price.
Only player I would trade up for is MHJ for obvious reasons. I would only trade back if we were going to receive an obvious starter as part of the trade. Otherwise I’m sitting put and drafting a starter at 15.

Ballard said they were reengaging a week ago. I would think we will know this week. Blackmon couldn’t have endeared himself to Ballard when he scrubbed his Colts social media stuff way back when. Obviously Ballard is giving him another opportunity to sign. So there still is a chance he will. But Ballard will not wait forever. He needs to address the safety room before the draft. Hopefully his agent knows the market for safeties. Blackmon is one of many still out there. So it’s his move now. The clock is ticking.

There is still plenty of time.I read he’s returning to Iowa city for his workout April 15th. He was at the pro day it held off working out. Not quite ready.

Idk? Even though this off-season has seemed slow, (we signed 14 guys, whether our guys or not) and unentertaining, I couldn't be more excited about the possibilities that are out in front of us.
The unknown is a little exhilarating.
So many possibilities.
I think Dejean is a definite possibility for our pick at 15. I don’t believe he worked out at the combine due to an injury. I read he’s completely healthy and will go through the drills at his pro day which is coming up shortly. He will probably kill it and jump up the draft boards falling right into our laps. There is no consensus on his best position in the NFL. Safety or cornerback. He’s a great kick returner as well. I think Ballard could be very tempted to pick Dejean. Big 10. Very versatile. I could see him really liking him.

Would be an expiring deal, with $15.1m cap hit this year. Could sign to an extension though and reduce the number.
I think we make another move before the draft, hopefully a couple, but yeah, for most part, teams will start to look to fill holes once they see how draft plays out and what holes remain.
Draft can't help our veteran Safety need though.
I have mentioned trading for Baker in some of my earlier posts. I like this move better because of his age and Ballard could extend him and he would fit in perfectly with the current extensions of our own players. He’s in his prime so he would be a great get imo. Safety room fortified with an all pro for years down the road.

Hunter would have replaced Paye most likely which would have been a bigger upgrade worth the contract (without giving draft picks away).
How I always look at these trades is what the floor and ceiling of player A is compared to the current player B, and are the assets that are being traded/contract being given worth the difference between the ceiling of current player B to the floor of the new Player A.
That is why they pursued Hunter and not Reddick. Like I said. If he meets the conditions of the trade the Jets will be happy giving up the 2nd in 2026.

See the above comment about why Reddick costs way too much, Howie would love to give Reddick for Dayo and Paye and would laugh is way to the super bowl. While your philosophy would destroy your depth and rotation players that would leave the DL gassed and unable to last the season. It's the same thing Grigson did. After 2-3 years you will have the oldest roster in the league, no young talent and have terrible cap space.
The cost for Reddick was a conditional 3rd rd pick in 2026. Not 2024 not 2025 but 2026. The price for Reddick was definitely worth it. He’s only 29. A new contract will secure him for three or four years. Howie and Joe Douglas are buddies. They are both happy with the trade. Ballard thought Hunter was a better fit. It’s about finding the right fit when a trade is made. Ballard could still be shopping for all we know.

I find it hard to imagine Ballard trading up for a TE. He has invested a lot of picks in the TE room the last couple of years. And for various reasons he hasn’t seen all of them play significant snaps. Seems like a big price to pay and bale on them. At pick nine that player has to start and is predominantly a three down player. I find it hard to believe he would pay that big price. We are in a great spot to draft a premium player who would happen to be in a position of need. I think he just sits tight and see who falls.

I said they have what ifs in place. That doesn't mean they will know who they will pick. A team could surprise them and want their pick. No way of knowing no matter how much you think you have it figured out. There could always be a surprise in the offing.

I think Bradley would be able to use Parsons effectively. I couldn’t believe they were able to get so many sacks last year. Missing Grover for a quarter of the season didn’t help either. To have a chance at having a good defense you need talent and a little experience wouldn’t hurt. The secondary was the Achilles heel last year. They intentionally went with young and inexperience. And we witnessed what happened. Ballard trying to get Hunter is telling I think. He could have focused on the secondary in FA. In fact we might have been in on McKinney. Not sure. If so he was trying to add exceptional experienced talent to the defense. I think Gus knows what he’s doing. He just needs a few significant upgrades to finish the job and hopefully our young players in the secondary make a big leap.

Ballard wasn’t afraid to go after Hunter. Same age as Reddick and his contract is more than Reddick. 29 might be too old for you but not for Ballard. Grover is 30. He didn’t do too bad either.

I couldn’t agree more. It’s really hard to guess on the compensation. It appears to be all over the place. The Buckner acquisition was pretty straightforward. A Parsons acquisition seems similar to me. I have to think Ballard is poking around on some of these players for the reason you mentioned. His big contract Hunter pursuit really surprised me. He’s hungry for a veteran ER. No doubt.

I think Ballard would be more inclined to trade for a DE than a WR especially since he tried for Hunter. Eagles just gave Reddick away and Burns went for a 2nd and a fifth. He’s the same age as Burns. So I’m not a sure 1st would be necessary. He would do an extension like he did with Buckner. I would bet Dallas would take our 15th like the 49’ers took our 13th for Buckner. They aren’t feeling the same pressure though as SF. On the other hand they want to sign Dak. They might decide they can not afford both. So I like your thinking. Timing is everything. Getting Parsons would be a difference making acquisition.

No they don’t. They will have their board in place when the draft starts. They have no way of knowing what will take place in front of them before they pick. They can guess on different scenarios but it’s just a guess. The can not possibly know all of the scenarios. Guessing doesn’t equal reality. I’m sure they are doing a lot of what ifs. That’s what I would expect. But that’s a far cry from definitely knowing what they will do with the pick.

If the team doesnt value corners this way then maybe they should start. I dont like to pigeon hole what we draft this hard but our secondary is a bunch of nobodies and our Dline is ok, better than ok actually. We dont even have many snaps for a rookie unless they are a really good edge right out of the gate. A rookie DT from this class isnt beating Buckner or Stewart.
Ballard said he is not done addressing the secondary. So it’s fair to say he will make an addition or two up to the draft. I don’t think they have any idea what they will do with the first pick right now. Not a clue. They obviously like the players they have that form the core. You can tell that by all of the players they resigned. By the time the draft is here I will bet there will not be a glaring major hole on the team. A hole that will definitely point to what position they will draft. A great spot to be in for sure.

According to Harmon Odunze is the first receiver he's ever charted that has completely green route tree everywhere. He runs every route and he get gets open on every single route.
BTW MHJ's chart is not as impressive, but he mentions he was doubled the most out of any receiver in this draft class and his chart is still really really good.
So green is good, yellow is average and red is bad?

I think corner could actually be BPA. Being a position of need could just be coincidental. We have no way of knowing what the Colts board looks like.

I think they will be there. He strikes me as a Ballard type of pick. High Ras score I’m assuming after he tests. Supposedly very athletic. Can play multiple positions at a high level. Would be our kick returner too day one. He took Malik Hooker at 15 so I could see him taking Cooper there as well. I could see him moving up into the middle of the 1st round after his workout.
