Terrion Arnold will be our starter but I like him as an idea
I am good with Arnold as well. Should be a beast.

I think he would be a good singing. Long rangy corner who is still only 28. Came off a solid season after staying healthy finally. Would be a good cheaper option to help add a vet to the room. Would be outside starting day 1 and could help Jaylen Jones and Brents improve with competition. Any thoughts?

You have more mobile guys for one but you also see more Achilles injuries than ever before. I’m still curious about the playing fields and turf in general. I would like to see stats of what injuries have spiked based on playing surface. Knees and Achilles to be specific.

If he goes to a good team which is very possible, as in being drafted mid to late in the 1st round, he will be good right away. A team like the Vikings should draft him, they pick 11th and have Jefferson and a decent team. Cousins is gone.
My assessment of Penix Jr - strong arm and accurate, has the clutch factor as well. Downside, can he stay healthy on the NFL level. He tends to take a lot of hits. He is better than McCarthy, although McCarthy's team won it all vs him. Just 1 game. McCarthy is the next Mac Jones.
The Vikings did draft Hendon Hooker last year. I am curious if they see him as a potential starter. They grabbed a bridge guy in Sam Darnold so I am not sure if they go QB early. Obviously it’s a high value position so I could be way off.

So far you have multiple teams cutting very good players because of cap. Cap casualties this year seem to be some very talented players. With this being said I know we don’t go after top money seeking guys but there are solid players that could be huge for us. What are thoughts on some of these players available now. Plus some more will be added….

With some teams needing key positions outside of WR, I can’t see 3 WR’s plus Bowers all gone by 15. I think Rome is our guy at 15. FA will tell a lot for teams. Many WR’s could move to other teams. OT will end up being something that shakes up some boards IMO. Maybe 3 gone before us. Add in maybe 4 QB’s (teams always over draft). I can see a guy like Rome slip to 15.

I agree. Grover is a key piece for our D line. Him MPJ and Kenny would be my priorities.

Sweat from Texas would fit more as the 1 tech to replace grove. Run stopper but can still shoot the gap to disrupt the pocket.

I love when they drop the first mock. Looking at this at the end of April once the actual draft is always fun. Many names will be different. I would take Bowers with a smile though. Solid TE and great future weapon for someone.

Yeah, I have been vouching for him for a while. I just don't see Ballard paying $15 mil. a year for a safety even though he warrants it. But if we sweeten the pot of guaranteed money and give him a 4 year $48-52 mil. with $30 mil. guaranteed, close to the $36 mil. guaranteed money for Jessie Bates, there is a good chance he considers us.
I could see him signing a contract for 12/year if there were heavy guarantees for sure! I hope we are right and hopefully Ballard sees the value in a solid FS as well. I just think Ballard wants to stick with Rod Thomas and Nick Cross. Subpar safety group but I don’t know.

At first, I looked at FS Antoine Winfield Jr but compared to Xavier McKinney, Winfield was used move in the box and his stats guess say where inflated with the number of blitzes. Loved to get McKinney as he would compare more to what the Colts use as a true deep threat safety. Some even questioned if MLB Okereke is one of the main reasons why McKinney flourished this season. McKinney seems more suited as a single high safety where he dominated in 2021 and shown he struggles moving up in the box. McKinney is better suited for zone coverage and the Giants ran Cover 3 in 2022 but ranked last in their usage of zone. McKinney appears best suited to play deep for a zone-based team.
Now I figured McKinney initial value was around 10.5M APY but wouldn't be shocked to get a deal closer to what Jessies Bates got last season around ~16.85M to 17.5M APY. After resigning of our own Colt's players that didn't leave us much to sign other key positions, namely I have a similar topic regarding upgrading our pass-rush adding on the defensive line and at the price point McKinney was out of our range in order to sign draftees.
I would love having McKinney. As you said he fits Gus’ style and it allows us a playmaker and center fielder. Contract wise yes I bet he sits near 15 mil a year.

I will say every year contract amounts are drastically off in these mock offseasons. Xavier McKinney will get more than 7mil a year. Teams can bid pushing that price to 10+ for sure. Projected contracts for DE’s usually are the same. Huff will more than likely hit higher than 15 as well. Teams spend big each year and he has shown great potential.

Not only would I disagree since there are a lot of good players in this draft but it’s only been 2 years. This draft like many has a lot of very solid players that will have good names now and throughout their careers. Look back in just 2 years and you might not agree with your post.

Playing is what will help AR get better in the pocket and reading Defenses at game speed. He has shown he can get better. They want the franchise guy to improve not Minshew. Now let’s hope the accuracy on out routes improves a lot in a short time.

JT probably realizes he really has no trade value now too. At least for what he wants.
If he was wanting 10+ a year he just got hit by reality. No team is giving that. He could hope for a raise and maybe a year or two added but nothing huge for sure.

Maybe colts were waiting for some of these other running backs before making a offer to JT. Maybe this moves it forward now.
I agree. His agent was probably hoping for some money but not happening.

This tells me that they plan on moving forward and Taylor has a choice to make. Play and hope for a contract next year or waste a year but we have moved on for the year. Get Moss back and we have a decent RB group.

Well the owner of the team IS the person who pays the players.
This is exactly the owners job.
Does he have to go to social media about it? No.
I mean you pay a GM for all of that. The owner just signs the checks.

The fact that Irsay is being the key voice and not Ballard is alarming yet again.

I will say that last year the media and fans expected a decent Matt Ryan to help with the offensive game. Our o-line plus poor play from Ryan really hurt. We have not addressed the o-line so it’s hard to say that it’s improved just yet. Also having a young QB could still create play similar to Ryan. Killing drives and having INT’s because he is learning. The D hopefully stays solid. With this I will always hope for a playoff team but I could still see maybe 6-8 wins.

Ballard is not drafting a QB at 4th overall and then drafting a QB the following year. He would be fired for sure I doubt we end up being the worst team anyways but even if we are top 5 we draft many other positions.
-
A. 1. QB obviously
2. CB
3. IOL
B. 1. O line
2. D LINE/ Edge
3. WR

I would love this if it happened honestly. Latimore would be a huge addition. Cap wise his 2024 year still hurts so Ballard would have to get crafty with money from other deals. He likes to keep a cushion throughout the season. Overall good job though.
