We are modifying our moderation rules for game time, in response to your feedback.
We will NOT be creating the post game threads. Posters can create post game threads......but please, clearly title them and do not create duplicate topics.
We WILL continue to lock game time discussions that are created or are occurring anywhere but in the game day thread.
If you are not familiar with our game day forum, it is here: http://forums.colts.com/forum/14-colts-game-day/
Moderators create and lock game day threads (at game start and end) in the game day forum. While the thread is live you can reach the most current page of the thread by clicking the Game Day link in the main menu.
Please help keep the site organized and do NOT create duplicate game time discussions. If you do, they will be locked.
Hopefully this process will work for everyone. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Colts Fans are an important part of Colts.com, so we've made some changes to reflect that.
Effective today, logging in to the forums and logging in to colts.com are one in the same
In other words, in order to comment on articles on colts.com, you must be a member of our forums and also agree to our code of conduct.
The very cool thing about this is, that colts.com articles appear here in a new forum called Colts.com News.
If you post a comment to an article on colts.com, that post will appear both beneath that article and also here on the forums in the Colts.com News forum along with your profile Picture and a link to your profile page.
Also, as part of our tighter integration with colts.com, we have a new look. Our site layout and colors now mirror what you see on the article pages (for example here: http://www.colts.com...18-55caf884ecd0 )
FURTHERMORE: Our members posts appear on colts.com in another couple of different ways
Recently active threads appear on the home page.
Recent Blog Posts are featured on the articles pages (for example here: http://www.colts.com...18-55caf884ecd0

As always you can join or log in with your facebook or twitter accounts as well.
Enjoy and let me know if you have any questions.

In the next week or so, we expect to upgrade our site. You'll still have all the functionality you like, there will be improvements.

The content editor will be better and faster
Mobile browsing will be better and faster
You will be able to mention somebody in a post (for example type @nadine) and that person will receive notification.
You'll be able to quote just a portion of a post, rather than the whole post (you'll still be able to quote the whole post as usual as well).
The menu structure will be a little different. It will include a new way to find content called activity streams. You'll have the option to create your own so, you can discussions the way you like.

We'll all be learning this together and I think it will be just a matter of learning the new functionality, which we can do over time.

The one thing I wanted to flag for you is this. We will not longer have separate login and display names. If you have changed your display name over time, this will affect you.

When we change, log in with your current display name. If you've forgotten it, you can request it be emailed to you. So be sure your email address is current (you have access to it)

I cannot tell you how many times people have lost access to their account because they cannot remember what email address they used.

That's it. Let me know if you have any questions.

On friday afternoon, my girls and I headed downtown to check out the free stuff in Indy's Superbowl village.
We took the shuttle in from the old airport to save us having to park downtown. It only cost $2 each. On our way in, it took quite a while to navigate to the court house which is where we parked. So, we were quite glad we were not driving. They've got quite a few streets blocked off for the village and traffic is slow!
I felt so pleased for and proud of the City. Everything looked so festive with giant Super Bowl graphics everywhere. And it was just so cool to see so many Colts fans, wearing their Colts stuff EVERYWHERE. This was clearly a party for our city.
I did see a few Pat fans and even fewer giants fans. There were in the minority. Perhaps they were in restaurants and bars.......I don't know. But us Colts fans owned the streets for sure.
By far the most fun place in the Village was the Zipline. You could stand directly under it while brave souls when zipping over head, many of them UPSIDE DOWN. They were yelling and so was the crowd below. Very fun.
The zipline was right in front of the convention center which is where the NFL experience is. Also there were other games and the super cars.
We did get to the stadium but it was mostly blocked off...and we got questioned by security as we went around the barricade.
He said "Can I help you?"
We said "We want to see the stadium"
    He said "OK"
    weird
We went into the proshop and it was full of superbowl gear. The hats and regular mens tshirts were the usual price. But the women's stuff was outrageously expensive. $100 for a tank top.
If you want something to remember Indy's Superbowl, there is some stuff that doesn't have Pat or Giants logos on it. Check out the local stores. We saw tshirts at the grocery store that were $15 less than they were at the proshop.
Lastly, we headed down to the music stages. By this time it was dark (but still warm). We had thought that we might catch Fitz and the Tantrums.
But the crowd was really getting seriously large at that point and the stage area was packed. We managed to get almost all the way down to where the 2nd stage was but, it was packed and I mean packed.
I started to get more than a little claustrophobic. So did my girls. We decided to bag it and head home instead of staying.
I did see people with small children (even baby carriages) in this crowd. In fact I almost fell over one. I would not recommend bringing your children and babies into this area. The crowd was well behaved, it was just too dense.
We just could not believe how warm the weather was. I mean it was like 50 degrees and no rain or snow. Very unusual for February. I hear it's a phenomenon called the 'Arctic Oscillation'
Very convenient for it to happen this year, for sure.
All in all, we were glad we went, glad we wore our walking shoes because we circled everything twice I think. Indy did the city and the state so proud.
We may not be in this Super Bowl but, for me, it will always be INDY'S SUPERBOWL!

Nobody likes to be condescended to. Being on the receiving end of patronizing and belittling comments is annoying and frustrating and can be a cause of conflict between members here on the forums.
Technically this is not against the rules but, if it is persistent and causes ongoing issues then moderation may have to step in.
However, we think it's important that the people posting make every effort to resolve their own conflicts.
    Some things to think about.........
    (1) Am I condescending? (Do you like to sarcastically talk down to other people in an effort to make them look beneath you? Take this quiz to find out just how condescending you really are!)
    (2) Are I REALLY being condescended to? Just do a reality check. At times I find it interesting here that people do not notice the condescension doled out here on the boards when it is being done by someone they agree with and being done TO SOMEONE they disagree with. And yet, notice it readily when it comes their way
    (3) What can I do to handle condescending posts directed at me?
There are a lot of choices that can be made here. I get my share of these sorts of comments directed at me and I have found this to be the best way to respond
    What works for you?
  8. Nadine
I've been updating/clarifying our rules and thought this was a good time to remind everyone that as a member, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for abiding by the rules.
The single best guideline to posting here is to be civil to one another. For the sake a clarity though, I've highlighted some important rules for posting here below. The full version is here
Please note that moderators issue warnings for rule violations. Generally, these are 'verbal' warnings with a 1 point value. Points go away over time however, if you begin to accumulate points within a 30 day time period, you should know that your posting privs here will be restricted.
Also, depending on the nature of the post your privs can also be restricted immediately (for example, we 'toast' spammers on sight). Other than spammers, immediate and/or permanent posting restrictions occur only when, in spite of our best efforts, a member will not abide by our code OR when someone loses their temper and posts with an extreme lack of judgement So, don't do those things.
    RULES
    (1) Each member is allowed one registered account.
    (2) Please be respectful of your fellow members.
Insulting "nicknames" are not respectful and not appropriate to use in the forum. Even if you think it is clever.......odds are no one else does so don't do it.

Sometimes people get frustrated with each other here and sometimes people will call each other trolls.
A troll is someone who is here only to cause frustration and to provoke an emotional response.
But, just because you get emotional, does not mean that they are a troll.
Football fans are passionate and sometimes not very nice. But just because they might make you frustrated or angry does not mean that they are not also a fan.
I came across an interesting blog about this today: http://www.blogworld...t-surprise-you/
    That made an important point
So, that person that frustrates you might be a troll but, maybe not. Maybe they are something worse.
In any event, it's best to stay away from those posters who provoke you

A friend sent me this video and I just wanted to share it with all of you.
I have no words for how this impacted me. Exactly what I needed to hear and see is the closest I can come. I've saved it along with this picture that my daughter sent me. She received it from an Italian Friend. It says
    Life is short, be happy.

Wow, what a difference a year makes.......
Remember last January when Rob Lowe sparked internet mayhem by tweeting that Peyton Manning was going to retire?
Almost a year to the day, Rob Lowe will appear with Andrew Luck, Reggie Wayne and Jim Irsay on an episode of Parks and Recreation.
This is Mac's chance to watch the show. I seem to recall he never heard of it.

So, you either had something that you just had to post or for some reason, you decided today was the day you stopped and started posting.

Whatever the reason, welcome! We're glad you're here.

It can be a bit confusing getting started on any web site.
Breath deep, it's not as hard as it looks and most everyone here will help you out.
To get started, check out your settings
There are a lot of options there but one you should play with right away are your notification options.
If you have any questions, please shoot questions to me or any of the Community or Forum Moderators.

If you have just joined, you belong to the Rookie Group. This is your time to read and reply to threads and get to know the members and how we operate around here. It's also a good time for them to get to know you. If you like, you can make your first post here. Another thread you might want to read and reply to is here: http://forums.colts.com/topic/36427-i-love-this-forum/

A good rule of thumb is be nice, be civil. Don't be 'that guy'......even if you run into someone who.....well IS that guy. We have all types here, you are not going to like all of them but I'm sure you will find many that you do like.

Don't expect everyone to be as knowledgable as you. We are casual as well as avid fans here. Don't feel stupid if you are not a football genius. Most of us aren't. Lucky for us there are several here who actually ARE and are more than happy to explains X's, O's and even salary caps.

Our members are male, female, all age groups, & even fans of other NFL teams. All of these people find ways to get along in real life and we expect the same here.

Here's another idea, as you read through threads, click the like button. Everybody likes likes. It's a good way to start letting people know you are here.

Read the rules if you want specifics. We are a moderated site. We aspire always to be a family friendly site. If you violate the rules, you will likely hear from one of the mods. And as you probably heard your mother say "We don't care who started it"

Rookies have posting restrictions. Please do not take this personally. We do this to catch spammers, trolls, and posters with bad attitudes. This makes for a much more pleasant place for our posters. As a rookie, you may post up to 5 posts per day and all of them must be approved by a moderator before they go live. Don't worry, this only lasts for 10 posts. After your 10th post you belong to the New Member group. New members are pretty much like Members, they just have fewer posts. When you reach 100 posts, you automatically become one of the Members.

Rookies cannot create threads. But once you graduate to the New Member group, that restriction is lifted.

    Looking forward to your posts!

Let me know if you have questions. Here's a couple of "how tos' to get you started: http://forums.colts.com/index.php?/blog/1-moderation-and-other-site-topics/
